@@lylebest343 as he is still alive, that should be “is” not was. But for me, his way of playing, which is basically doing whatever he feels at that moment, and being able to do it tastefully, melodically and with great feeling is unsurpassed. Put it this way, there are others, such as Jimmy Page, who aren’t good enough to string Ritchie’s guitar, who are, shall we say, much more highly thought of. Naturally, there are thousands of talented guitarists…but greatness is subjective. For me, he is the greatest.

RJD IS A LEGEND. You can’t say you were late to the party, as you weren’t even born. How are you expected to know about this??? At least your learning about all these yesterday stars, through your channel. I myself was unaware of Rainbow, as they were not played on the radio. I became aware of them after winning an album of theirs and was blown away after hearing it. ❤️🤘🎸🎻🦘

You sir have my respect. Kudos to you for not only listening to Rainbow but for “getting it”. You understand. You don’t “hear” music like this, you feel it. Ritchie is the greatest guitarist of all time. He, like other top tier guitarists, plays in the moment. That song, the following night, would have a totally different solo section. Maybe longer, maybe shorter. There’s a story behind this particular concert. The night before, at another gig in Germany, a bouncer started beating up one of the audience, so Ritchie leapt of stage and (I’m not entirely sure how) righted the wrong, for which he was promptly arrested and spent the night locked up. He was freed quite late in the day and had to tear down the autobahn at breakneck speeds. This gig didn’t start until around midnight I believe, but the audience knew he was on his way and waited patiently. Nobody walks out of this lineup to get the last bus. As always, whenever he’s fired up, Ritchie pulls out all the stops. He’s on fire at this gig.

Dio is probably the greatest rock singer ever, however, I prefer this song sung by David Coverdale as per Deep Purple's Burn album and especially on Purple's live, Made in Europe album. Coverdale's more bluesy vocal quality suits the song better in my opinion. This is still fantastic - you'll not find anything but an excellent performance by RJD - but worth checking out Coverdale, as he made it a standard, continuing to sing it when he formed Whitesnake.

Then their Dad gave them the Rock Band video game and they are now on their 3rd album, touring Europe, and supporting Muse, Guns 'n' Roses, Three Days Grace, and Halestorm. The band is *The Warning* and they have a very loyal, international fan base. Some of the great bands in the 70s did not make great money. The record companies, the promoters, and the management made the money. They often helped furnish the lifestyles of their artists but the money was controlled tightly and not by the artist. The music business sucks for the artist most times.

I am told that Ritchie Blackmore's net worth is about 20 million dollars currently, which is a lot, but with all that he has done in his career, that's not much.

Problem with Ritchie is he thinks he’s more important than anybody else in the band, don’t get me wrong great guitarist but it takes everyone to make a band !!

The more I hear Dio wailing away over this track, the less impressed I am. In the end, I just prefer to hear David Coverdale singing his song. There are better versions of the song by Rainbow than this one, notably the one from On Stage.

Nightwish absolutely sucks. Stick with Dio, man. Ronnie James Dio was the BEST Rock vocalist ever.
