The thing I love the most about this, is how deep it shows that Trip is. He's played off as single minded and goofy, but Trip is really poetic when he wants to be.
The reason we value antiques so much is because of their history, and the fact that they have survived through centuries of events that we can't really fathom the interconnection of, because our minds are focused on the here and now. Antiques connect us to our past, and stand as a beacon of hope that what we build today may last for generations, and connect us to the future. Their physical beauty is there, but it is only a surface level of beauty, just like with people. What is inside people, the history they survive, and the workings of their minds and emotions, that adds value to who they are. The history that physical objects survive add value to those objects.

It was filmed during the golden age of Star Trek. Next Gen, DS9 and Voyager had just been shot overlapping and telling their stories in a continuous time line. And then Enterprise happened. It broke the continuity and took a step back. And it looked different. More like on a submarine than on a Federation starship. And the stories were different. And the entire tone was different. Gene Roddenberry painted this great view of the future, the enlightened, unified, interstellar community, in which humans are the leading players. And suddenly, just after Voyager arrived home and concluded the stories, there was this leap back.
It broke Roddenberrys tale to a degree. At least in the first seasons. I liked the Xindi story.
Picard sadly also broke Next Gen to me. There is nothing left of the good, positive feel of the future. In season 1 Star Fleet had become an isolationist, frightened organization, looking more towards the inside. It just felt wrong.

@@virginiaconnor8350 They still had chemistry on camera, in fact great chemistry which is why the writers focused so much on them season 3 onwards. In fact if you go back and watch seasons 3 and 4 again Archer (Scott Bakula) actually takes a backseat to both of them, when during the first two seasons he was the primary focus with T'Pol a distant second.
What she said to fans in interviews was that she found a relationship between them to be highly unlikely given Trip was an emotional human and T'Pol a Vulcan, but honestly, she said a lot of critical things off camera. She was not a happy camper while Berman and Braga were in charge particularly in seasons 2 & 3 with the ponfarr episode and then the neuropressure episodes. Once Manny Coto took over halfway through season three and largely cut out that nonsense (but particularly season 4), she was much happier as she got to portray T'Pol the way she wanted too and Manny just let her do her own thing which is why some fans noticed her character gets a lot colder in season 4. With the exception of a few periodic segments with Trip where she reconnects with him she's classic Vulcan whereas in season 3 she's much much more emotional. I remember reading a piece about her trailer where she prepared for shots and how she had it plastered with Trek memorabilia particularly images of Spock and the original series cast. It's pretty cool but Jolene is actually a huge Original Series Trek fan. And very true to her character she was never a fan of the spot light offset. It's a shame she didn't get to do seasons 5, 6, & 7 with Trip and the rest of the cast.

Maybe Trip should have played a "Jack Benny" movie. My Dad told everyone he was 39 every year after that. It was almost believable til he died at 64.6 yrs. I almost died-of Covid-at 65.6 yrs., but I just say I'll be 67 on my next birthday. Still here!

I knew they can get old, but man, 65! Can you believe it?"
"Allright, Trip. Listen up everyone, this is the Captain..."
