Throwing Tiny Porcelain Vases - Matt Horne Pottery

- For a bit of fun, I had a go at throwing some really tiny miniatures in porcelain on the wheel. Throwing small can also help with improving your technique, as the precision is a great exercise for practising your throwing skills.

Clay: Yes, Master.
Wow thankyou so much ive officially found what I never knew I was looking for my life is complete
very interesting Matt, never had much luck at throwing small myself. thanks for sharing
Wow! I'm gonna try. The narrow top part has always been scary for me!
It's so cute and tiny! Definitely trying this
Amazing! Hope you can make more miniature pottery like this~
So satisfying to watch you are really talented 💙💙
Very cute tiny pots making
I’m taking a ceramics course in college and I am taking another course next quarter for wheel throwing and I want to make tiny vases. Hopefully I have the skill to wheel throw. I have such a love for ceramics even if I suck at it.
So cute the tiny vase
you r really tellanted! thanx for sharing
He is doing where well.great
Ahh. here is where I've sort of ended up with my throwing - lots of small bottles and such. Happy accidents really, having to trim off tops more and more, then trying to rescue something. It's fun. Now when I intend to make one, it goes horribly. haha! But I love practicing!
Omg😍😍😍I would buy one of these tiny vases just to be able to say I have a vase made by Matt Horne!!😆😆😊✌️💕
Hi I’m thinking of starting to make miniatures pots just asking what clay you use plus how do you fire them and what glaze do you use thank you for taking your time 👍🏻
Great
I love miniature pieces! Would love to collect and make all the diff shapes. Don't have a kiln :(
The perfect size for one buttercup
If you throw minis again, try using sculptural tools for ribs instead of the credit card. Over the years I have carved particular shapes for bowls, etc. You can also trim the credit card to make it smaller and than shape it as you wish. I know the minis are not your thing, but you obviously have a flair for them. Purchase a cheap THIN cut off tool (most of them are pretty big for fine work) and use that for cut off of rim. Or use a long sewing needle attached to a pencil sized dowel with epoxy putty. A great cut off tool for big and small pots. Lovely form on your pots of all sizes.
Cheers.
Where can I get one a pottery wheel where do they make these so small
We're can you buy natural porcelain or Koalin clay.
انت فناااااااااااان😜💓😍👍🏻♥️👌🏻
I just finished a ceramics class and I wondered if there were miniature ceramics. Sure enough... 😂
How to make a pot wheel
Pl explain me
How do you trim these? Hand trim?
so question, could you do a video on the economics of pottery making? I want to do this as a way to make money threw collage and have fun but I have no clue where to start

This isn't an easy question to answer - the best way from experience is to keep making and do as many craft shows as you can, approach galleries and generally put yourself out there to get known (getting known is the hardest part and can take time). I hope that helps :)
Would you turn the bottoms before firing? I've never managed to turn my miniature vases/bottles without messing them up.
Yes I would :)
How would you turn the bottoms on the vases with such narrow necks?
@@galengower3541 you would make a chuck, or some use a cup...I am super new to pottery, "turn the bottom"? Trim? I'm talking about trimming. Idk what turning the bottom is, but if you need to work on the bottom, then make a chuck (lots of videos on that) or use a mug:)
Hi! does anyone have any advice as to how to get a tall even neck on regular sized vases? When I try it always collapses. Is my clay too stiff or soft for a vase, or is it a technique thing?
Too much water makes mine fall apart...
@@Lyddiebits I finally got one to turn out!! Yayayayayayay
@@lilywatkins6812 how exciting!!! I have not attempted a tiny one yet:)
Is that white cement?
No it's porcelain
hehe
KREZI
Nice. Not sure why you sped up the video though. Would be even more satisfying to watch in real time :)
Aha,it seems I am the first to arrive from Reacts"10 oddly satisfying" who will be joining me?
