I have dealt with severe cervical, occipital and shoulde tension most of my adult life (I’m 34) and have tried EVERYYHING to address it. I also have breathing issues and difficulties projecting my voice. Recently I noticed my tongue looked different from my fiance and learned about tongue tie. It makes sense that it’s never been addressed as a child because I was not breastfed. I have never heard of this but I failed both tests miserably! I’m looking into being formally evaluated and getting myofascial therapy and a frenectomy and am hoping it brings me some relief. What I cannot believe is that with all the specialists/dentists I’ve seen over the years, no one thought to evaluate this!
So glad you found my channel! Unfortunately, this is a story I hear CONSTANTLY :( Just know you are not alone! I hope this brings you knowledge, empowerment, and relief!
I can fit 4 fingers with my mouth open all the way. Then with my tongue behind my teeth it's a little less than 2, then with the suction/click, I have to force my mouth to be able to open less than 1 finger width. It's usually teeth clenched when I do that. I already have my tongue tie release scheduled though
About 2 fingers baseline, barely 1 posterior. Definitely talking to my doctor ASAP as I've had chronic jaw and neck pain for years that I've attributed to stress.
Im tongue tied, and now I think it has a lot to do with how I sound. There's really naslly speech, then there's how I sound. They sound almost the same, but my voice sounds more like Im holding my tongue even tho I can pronounce any word. I don't have any nasal issues of any kind. I didn't pass this test.
Yes, that can happen! Many tongue tied singers do not have speech issues or pronunciation issues, but they do feel tension or pain and also the sound or tone quality can sound forced or tight!
I failed the 3rd exercise. 😭 I have been feeling discomfort in the jaw and neck area lately. I also noticed how I can't seem to tame my tongue when I practice singing. Does that mean, I possibly am tongue tie??? 😭😭😭
I have had a stuttering-like condition my whole life. It sn't exactly stuttering as much as it is mumbling through sentences unintelligible. It isexacerbated when I am nervous, and I also tend to to take a lot of sporadic breaths while talking. I dd this test and it was 3,2,1 for the spaces between the jaws. Could the tongue tie explain these conditions?
Yes, that is common and easily avoided. Surgeons can gently move either side of the vein without cutting it. It may make the process slower, adding maybe 5-10 mins, but shouldn't change the quality of the release.
Yes tongue ties are genetic so he chances are high. Of course, not a guarantee but definitely suspicious. I’d watch and see if he has other symptoms: mouth breathing, nasal congestion, chronic ear infections, poor sleep, food, pickiness
@@theshark2804 AH HA. Well I’d find a local dentist that specializes in tongue ties for kids and start there! You can just Google “tongue tie” and then your city. That will give you a good starting point. I also offer free consults as well

Yessss!!! Hooray! (But maybe make sure you talk to a tongue tie person, because sometimes "regular" doctors have no idea about this lol)

Yes the chances are very high! Id seek a formal diagnosis! (thats probably why you have so much tongue issues- its not the technique!)
I failed

Yes yes yes!

Oh no! well we know what that means........
Mine really hurt, too. 2 to 1 finger. lol

Can you get your tongue tie released if there is a big vein in it?
Yes, that is common and easily avoided. Surgeons can gently move either side of the vein without cutting it. It may make the process slower, adding maybe 5-10 mins, but shouldn't change the quality of the release.
My son just turn 4 and has very limited speech. So I tried your test and I didn’t pass the 1st test. So maybe my kid has the same problem
