- In a shocking incident New Market GB Abdul Kayum Talukdar was shot dead at a blank point by unknown miscreants on the night of 8 June between 8:45 to 9:00 pm at Lhomithi, Signal Bosti, Saam Bazaar area. New Market Business Owners Association has decided to go shutter down from 9 June until the justice is served.

Firstly, the law enforcement agencies should diligently investigate the case and book the culprits at the earliest irrespective of the community. Justice should be served without delay. RIP to the departed soul and my deepest condolences to the bereaved family.
Secondly, indefinite shutter down is never a good and fair solution. The GB union along with the authorities should carefully review it's statement.
