    Hi Carl. There were four main reasons I purchased this off ProAv. AF was the most important, followed by colour science. It's being used for a very long term project so rubustness was third. Fourth was something you did n't mention. Continuing advice and support from yourselves. Hopefully Canon will also suprise and delight us early birds with a nice free 10 bit firmware upgrade! Everyone else can pay a licence fee. Ouch! Who threw that? BobUK.

    We have watched a lot of videos of ProAV before we purchased a cinema camera and we are very thankful for making trustful videos. We decided to buy a Canon C200 and after 3 months of work we love it. We really agree on those 5 reasons! It‘s a fantastic camera, really reliable and the image quality is pretty awesome.

    Really Canon C200 is a great camera, whenever I will upgrade to Cinema Camera that one will be Canon C200 only, thanks for making this video 😇👍👌

    It an awesome camera but too much on the extremes to be useful for everything. You either get full on raw lite or highly compressed 8bit 420 mp4 files. Nothing in between. Get 14 minutes of raw on a 128gb cfast card, $280, or an hour of mp4 UHD on an 128gb SD card, 69.99. If Canon opened a restaurant like that you'd only have either small plates or enormous ones and both very expressive and almost overpriced compared to the other restaurants around the corners. But to each their own. Yay Carl is doing longer reviews again :))

      If you actually work with the 8bit codecs it actually holds up quite well in post. Don't let it fool you.

    The DPAF and RAW recording pulled me to the C200, coming from a C100mk1 this is a huge upgrade.
    Oh and great video, I wish a camerastore in the Netherlands would take the time to produce videos like this one.

    From what I understand, the C200 is the only Canon cinema camera that can film up to 120 fps without any crop factor. I'm guessing that is due to the having the latest Digi6 sensor inside it? While the others will crop during slow motion filming because they don't have the Digi6 sensor. Filming in slow motion while maintaining full resolution picture is important to me. Also does the C200 come with XLR audio input?

  • @DB-nl9xw

    Will full-frame kill the need for Super35? Is there future for the C100? Will Canon release an RF version? So many questions!

    • @ProAVTV
      @ProAVTV  Před 5 lety

      Full frame definitely won’t “kill the need for super 35”. Just like how people still use micro four thirds cameras like the gh5 when super35mm exists. They are simply different formats.
      I would absolutely love canon to release a new camera in the c100 category. Basically a C200 without the raw function. It would be a great addition to the line up.

  • @wassarts
    @wassarts Před 6 lety

    Yep, nailed it - I love mine.
    The only downside is my Tamron SP 15-30mm F/2.8 will not work with it, worked fine on my C100 the lens has been sent off for firmware check but nothing they can do. so worth noting

    • @wassarts
      @wassarts Před 6 lety

      Hmm thats interesting, is there any documented evidence for this, my 24-70 has worked perfectly for months

    • @JamesJacksonFilmz
      @JamesJacksonFilmz Před 6 lety

      He's making it up. Don't ever take anything from Johnathon Frumdehood seriously, he's a troll. There's no such issue.
      The real issue with Tamrons you may run into is that Tamron lenses don't send information to the camera (at least the newer cinema line cameras like the C300 mark II and above). I had the Tamron 85mm Prime and I can't change the iris no get any auto focus support.
      This is seems to be an issue with Tamron not canon and Tamron doesn't seem to be interested in fixing it at the time being. I would recommend joining the C200 facebook group, they have great support.

    I hope the C200 II with internal 10-bit 4:2:2 and H.265 comes soon. C200 has no middle codec. The 8-bit is not so useful.

    Great video, thanks a lot! I am in the process of buying a C200 myself and have a really stupid and noob question but.. i will ask anyway simply because I dont know about it or how this camera works. When shooting RAW, are any video profiles or LOG modes selectable or can/need to be applied (like when shooting MP4), or because its RAW, basically is just RAW straight out of the sensor with no procession and end of story? Thanks again :)

    C200 or UMP for both events as well as feature films. UMP can record on many codecs even prores 422 and on dual ssd's and it's film like look gets compared to ARRI & RED.

      Personally, the C200 is a more flexible camera, especially for events work, because of its AF, Low light, design and choice of small or large codecs. But the image is also lovely out of the BM UMP so it does depend on your priorities
