My hair was completely destroyed over the years of Olaplex treatments. It not only severely broke my hair but caused baldness, sensitivity, hair loss and thinning. I'm almost bald at 40. In hindsight 100% now know this is what happened over the 5 years receiving these treatments every 8 weeks in salon as well as at home use. Spending thousands of dollars and knowing this is what destroyed my hair makes me so upset! I wish I could be in the lawsuit.
I'm so sorry that happened to you. I can imagine your frustration, and disbelief with the result when you were doing something good for your hair (or you thought). I wish you much success and positive thoughts on your hair journey.
The lawsuit is only for $75,000, and it’s 30 women, that means ever woman would only get about $2,500

I have left Olaplex 3 in my hair overnight several times and I’ve had absolutely no issues.

Several times? Well try every week for a few months. It took about a month or two and I lost handfuls of hair. The product is garbage.

I have just used three of the products. This morning… Following directions, and Im very pleased with how my hair looks and feels.
I am 68 and have bleached my hair since I was 15. 😝 So, perhaps if, I have a problem, It might be my sad old hair? 😝😊
Why would she have empathy when people r claiming her products caused the hair loss? She proved they do not. If anything she should be pissed they r destroying her company!

Today I just discovered that I am not alone in this Olaplex nightmare experience. It took only 2 uses of Olaplex #3 (left on for about 30 min) in a 2 week period to experience the worst and most aggressive hair loss ever. My scalp itches from time to time and I am super scared that all my hair will be gone soon. I wish I didn’t have to experience this to tell people that this is REAL and did not only affect 28 women but at this point thousands.

I'm so sorry you are going through this experience. Thank you for sharing your story, it will surely help others. With the discontinued use, may your hair get stronger and scalp issues subside. I have heard many people seeing results with stronger hair with less breakage after using K-18. It might be worth trying. I pray you see improvements and start to love your hair again soon.
This same thing happened to me last night. I used 0 & 3 for the first time ever and my hair was falling out in clumps in the shower. Which led me to this video. It’s scary that products can cause hair loss this fast.

Thanks Jodi for this info. I had not heard about the law suit. I also think 75k is not a lot of money for 28 women to be suing for. It must be a hard case to prove. I’ve been using olaplex shampoo, conditioner & No 7 oil for about 2 years with no issues. Maybe a good practice would be to change up our product routines after a while.

Thank you for this well rounded response to this issue. I've also experienced recent hair loss. I'm still in the process of ascertaining it's cause i.e. stress, heredity, nutrition, hormones, auto-immune.... I have, however, been a sporadic user of Olaplex 3 during the time period where noticeable hair loss has occurred. It would be great if you could share any new information that may have come out regarding this specific law suit. Most other commentators simply shrug it off due to the fact that there could be multiple causes for hair loss in women (they've also, probably, promoted Olaplex in the past).
Hi. I'm sorry you're experiencing hair loss. Hopefully the cause is something as simple as using a product that doesn't agree with you. I've had alot of success using K18, and UNITE has a Boosting shampoo and conditioner that I've found makes my hair feel and look thicker. They might help you with your styles while your hair growth improves. Hang in there, more great hair days are ahead!!

Yep, similar thing happened to me too. I applied olaplex on my hair and my scalp started itching like crazy and then started burning. I washed it out as soon as I applied it, however the burning was still there and I had like hives on the sides of my face. I then started googling and found a Reddit sub Reddit of women who experienced similar things. Luckily I washed it out asap but had I left it in my hair definitely would have burned off.
unfortunately there are so many places like winners london drugs, amazon etc. and there is no way to authorize the authenticity the product. so many people are buying bootlegged product

I left Olaplex 3 on my hair for an hour and my scalp broke out in horrible sores and blisters. Worse, I now have serious bald spots in front and massive thinning all around. That took about 2 weeks after using it. I am horrified at how I look and just bought a wig and LED treatment cap to try and repair my poor scalp.
I'm so sorry you had this experience. Thank you for sharing as it may help others. I've heard people have had positive results from the LED treatments. Praying your scalp recovers quickly.

I’ve been using olaplex since it came out and have never once had any issues, my clients Also use olaplex and haven’t had any problems. It will be interesting to see what happens in the lawsuit. There will be a small percentage of the population that will be allergic to certain products, depending on if they are using the products in the proper way, but that could be for any kind of product. Keep us posted. 😊

I personally have no allergies to any hair product and have never in my life had adverse reactions to any hair products. Olaplex is the only thing that has ever damaged my hair to the extent that I had hair loss, hair thinning, and hair breakage. It only was for a few months and then I discontinued the product.

@@warriorgoddesscrystalgeome6337 the small percentage your are refering to is (at least) 10 000 people.... with a lot of those people literally using this product the way it is advertised on olaplex websites and/or by their hair professionals in salon... so yeah i'm pretty sure that if a product hurt 10 000 people (and still counting) it souldn't be sold at all....
My friends with naturally curly hair have sworn by Olaplex since it came out. I only recently started using the No5 conditioner after being stuck in a conditioner rut 😢 I use it every other wash and my hair feels amazing 😊

Wow I’ve been using olaplex for years especially the 6 and 7 oil after I wash my hair . The leave in shampoo conditioner . I’m gonna throw them in the garbage . Just bought it not to long ago. I remember referring it to Dawn . All the chemicals we use omg . Now I know why I have some breakage .

Hi! I can't confirm if these products are the cause of your breakage. The information is confusing to sort through and the opinions of experts also varies. I sent my mom the shampoo and conditioner last summer and her hair kept breaking so we're in the processes of eliminating products to narrow down what the cause is. I love Kerastese and can recommend them with great confidence! (when in doubt, use Kerastese!)

I purchased the Olaplex holiday set. Haven’t had any hair loss issues, However when I leave No. 3 on overnight my hair feels hard and looks fizzy. Stopped using for a while, but recently started back with the Olaplex 0, 3 & 8
Used as directed about 10 min each application. No longer overnight
I found Olaplex 3 & 8 is all my hair needs. When I run out, I will look for other options
But, I might repurchase Olaplex 3 & 8 in the future

Hey Jodi! Wow! First of all, if my hair fell out in patches as in the picture you shared, I’d be asking for more than $75k! Secondly, people should know by now not to take advice from teenagers on TikTok. I’ve never used Olaplex but I would be willing to try it. People are always looking for reasons to sue companies imo. Maybe it’s legit but I imagine they’ll have a hard time proving their claims.

I used the products on my virgin hair and have never had more hair loss. I told my sister this about a year or two ago. Haven’t been using it now and my hair is not falling out as much.

I’m a man and this thing made me lose so much hair while I was using it. I finished my small no4 bottle. I thought maybe I was just crazy. But a lot of hair falls out 🥲 I’ve been looking for new shampoo now.

Hi Trisha, I keep hearing this. I'm so sorry you had that experience. I've been using K18 with really good results. I didn't have damage from Olaplex but a few people who had mentioned good results from K18 repairing their hair. Might be worth trying.
My wife had been using it for a while and ever since she has been shedding hair .now she is so emotionally unstable and i don't know what to do angry wife is an angry life

I tried Olaplex I wasn’t happy with the results and also found it confusing. I gave it a couple of goes but never really saw the results they claim. My hair is heavily bleached so now I’m trying the L’Oréal Pro Bond I’ve only done application without the shampoo and conditioner and I’ve already seen a difference.I’m go to grab the shampoo and conditioner this week so I have the whole system but so far I like it. Jodi if you can could give your thoughts or possibly a review on the L’Oréal Pro Longer?
Hi Lilly. Sounds like you had a similar experience as I did. I wanted it to work :) I'm so glad you're finding good results with L'Oreal Pro Bond. L'Oreal knows hair, that's for sure! I haven't tried the L'Oreal Pro Longer.
Are there any professional stylists out there who have some thoughts or insights on L'Oreal's Pro Longer products?
Olaplex has ruined my hair, just had to cut my hair short.. Im a hairdresser and im trying to resore my hair with clarifying shampoo and deep moisture masks... Dont use it is my advice.
The CEO is just defending the product and not being sued..

I’ve been bleaching my hair for 8 years. It was always remarkably healthy up until last year…yes, when I started using Olaplex. I got breakage in patches as well, when I first started with it. I didn’t think it was the Olaplex because of all the great things I’ve heard. Over the past 6 months I’ve had several patches of hair fall out and it’s awful! I still did not link it to Olaplex until I heard about this lawsuit, but now I’m wishing I could be #29. For reference, I only wash my hair every 6-7 days and I was using Olaplex #4 and #4P (Purple Shampoo) every wash, in addition to a moisturizing Biolage conditioner and Olaplex #7 leave in which I would leave in for 10 minutes. Maybe it was my fault that I never used anything other than the Olaplex, but I only wash my hair once a week which is what it states is the time frame to use the Olaplex. I’ve stopped using it, am planning on selling the unopened bottles I have left, and am going back to my old hair regimen. Unite 7 seconds shampoo, Biolage conditioner, Moroccan oil treatment for 10 minutes.

@@saxyfly Obviously, only people like the many, many people who defend the spectacular efficacy of Olaplex (including those the commentary of this video) would be interested in the purchase.
I was so excited to buy Olaplex, I was beaming when I left Ulta with specifically the #0 in the spray bottle and #3. When my hair started falling out and breaking right after I started using it, I was in shock. I used the product according to instructions, I didn't overdo it. It's horrible to watch your hair come out in chunks. It was obvious it was Olaplex, since that was the only new product I introduced to my hair. I took photographs and sent them to my sister in law who has an in home salon. She knew my hair and she could clearly see something was terrible wrong and that I had hair loss and damage. I finally took the products back to Ulta and talked to the manager and cried because my once beautiful hair was a mess. She was kind but said she had never heard of a problem with that product line. After I got home I looked online and discovered I was not alone. I don't know why some people have had such a terrible experience, including myself but I accept that others have used the products and have not had any problem at all. When you've experienced something so traumatic it's hard when people dismiss it. I am one of those that had damage from Olaplex that I'm still dealing with almost two years later. Hi Debbie. I'm so so sorry to hear you had this experience with Olaplex. I understand that feeling of having healthy hair, and enjoying how it looks after styling it, or not styling it. And to have that change to not wanting to do anything with it because it's so damaged. I'm glad you were able to identify what was causing the damage. Even though it's taking a while, your beautiful, healthy hair will recover! If you haven't yet, you might want to try K18. It's a little pricey, but I've been using it for a few years and love it. I used it for the first 4 washings, then once a month. Sephora has it, I didn't see it at Ulta last time I checked.
I hadn’t heard of this lawsuit. I bought Olaplex and used 0 & 3 last night. After I shampooed my hair was falling out in clumps! I was freaking out! So I immediately googled and came across all these Olaplex hair loss videos 😩😭 What the hell is in this stuff that causes hair fall out after one use?!
I'm one of the ones who followed the directions, have had hair loss, sores, dermatitis and migraines. These all got better very quickly after I stopped. Nothing else changed. I am left with some damaged hair now, that I'm having to contemplate cutting off after I grew it out from a pixie. So so bothered by the CEO's response and responses that suggest I didn't follow the directions.

I was using olaplex number 7 and number 9 for 4 years to my bleached dyed hair and I just recently noticed the hair thinning and breakage and splitting. I thought it’s from hair bleach but now I came across this video I have second thought, my hair look like it’s been cut but actually from breaking and I don’t understand why, now I know what causing it as I don’t go out without putting olaplex on my hair every single day as I thought olaplex is helping my bleach hair so as they claim.
I'm so sorry you are experiencing breakage and loss. It might be worth not using the Olaplex for 6 months and see how your hair responds. You'll see in the comments, some people absolutely love it and others have had serious hair loss, breakage and even scalp issues. I hope your hair recovers quickly!
It could be but then again I have bleached hair as well and it kills your hair. Also, do not wash your hair every single day. That alone will cause breakage. I haven’t bleached my hair in two years and it’s finally thicker and growing in nicely.
The shampoo dosnt contain those strong ingridents to really clean the scalp, and If you only use that and you use a lot of silicones I can see how that buildup might cause Hair loss and yeast 🤔

I'm not qualified to speak on the chemicals impact on different hair types. I expect we'll learn more as experts address the issues/concerns. I'll be sure to share what is learned. (that all sounded so vague, I apologize lol)
I love Olaplex, I am on my 2nd bottle and have never had an issue. Olaplex has saved my hair! Olaplex has stopped the breakage, my hair is the strongest its ever been, however I do not chemically colour my hair, or use any heat, the only colour is a 1X a mo henna. I think the people having issues must be experiencing a reaction between chemical services. As you stated it made your colour brassy, who knows what is in home dyes, straighteners, etc. that can react with Olaplex. I think the CEO of Olaplex did the best she could, there is only so much you can say when there is pending litigation.
It's been eye opening to read the various experiences people have had with Olaplex for sure. Almost very extreme one way or the other. Those who love, love it. Those who have had complications have suffered hair loss, breakage, soars, etc. I'm interested in learning more and will pass it along.
I have beautiful white hair. Since I began using Olaplex, I have been losing hair by the comb fulls & have had severe scalp itching & small bumps on my scalp.
I stopped using it 2 weeks ago & the hair loss has decreased dramatically. I also know 3 other people who’ve had this problem as well.
Very disappointed. Spent my $ on this product line & can’t afford to waste it, since I’m on fixed income.

My hair broke off in chunks after using olaplex. One of my friends said I have an interesting hair cut. I had not cut my hair in many months, but the breakage made it look like I randomly cut my hair. It’s absolutely awful what Olsolex has done to my once long hair. Now I have to regrow it all. 😢

For many women it starts with breakage and it's not until it gets really bad were they able to identify the cause and by then the damage is done. I hope you are starting to see some healthy growth since you stopped using the products. Thank you for sharing your story.
Not sure if it made my hair start breaking but no 4 and 5 surely made it hella dry! And no 3 did absolutley nothing. Its just not worth the risk.

I have been using olaplex for years and it has done wonders to my hair, I have never had an issue with it and I use it on my clients as well. With that being said, I stopped using olaplex because I finally tryed amika and I love all of their products 😅😂 lol

I too have experienced a lot of breakage on the crown of my head! I'm a licensed Cosmetologist and have been using all Olaplex products for about 11/2 yes to try to get my hair healthy. I'm still confused! Wth! It can't be a coincidence that so many people are experiencing the same problem. The website states it can not be overused. I disagree. I'm now using K18 to repair what the Olaplex has done, and it is amazing but pricey. I have stop recommending Olaplex, I hope the company will address this problem.
Hello Johnna. I'm so sorry to hear about your hair breakage. The results from Olaplex have been pretty split down the middle. Those who love it, really love it. Those who have had breakage, have had significant damage. I'm interested to learn more as the lawsuit progresses. I've started using K18 also, and have seen less breakage and feel like my hair is getting healthier. I hope you have similar results.
This product destroyed my hair.. I had extremely curly hair my entire life and now since using it I have stick straight hair and open wounds on my scalp and have extreme breakage.. I followed my hair dressers instructions and also watched videos before using.

While it appears the lawsuit has been dropped, I hope the message is still getting out so people who are having similar results will have an easier time pinpointing the cause. I use olaplex I don't like the shampoo or conditioner it doesn't work for me I come out of the shower with a Rat's Nest of ahead and I've tried it a couple times and eventually I just gave up on that but I do love their number 6 Bond their number 9 n number 3 mask they work wonderfully for me!!!

I started losing my hair Summer/Fall of last year. I assumed it was from Covid or honestly thought I was dying because I’ve never lost hair like that before. I was losing handfuls of hair in the shower and then more after shower when detangling (it was awful) trash bin was scary 😳 concerning…I actually bought hair extensions (1st time ever) for my 40th back in December for my birthday gig to help with making my hair look somewhat normal. I’ve always had super long thick/strong hair. I talked to my stylist about it and she was concerned too she mentioned it might be “Covid” hair that is a thing…. I started taking vitamins thought maybe that would help.The months still went by and kept losing more hair. I just so happened to see a post on FB awhile back about Olaplex and I was like uh what? omfg I’ve been using Olaplex right around the same time I started losing my hair. I immediately threw out the products (I was pissed) paid alot of money for those products @ Ulta/Sephora never had an issue like this before. So I went back to my its a 10 products and immediately noticed a huge difference I wasn’t losing my hair anymore. Go figure.
I am interested in signing up for this because my story is legitimately 100% linked to this Olaplaex. I’ll provide the receipts, photos. I have new hair growth coming in and I’m @ a point where I’m contemplating whether I should I just cut my hair and start my hair journey over or keep the business in the front party in the back look mixed in with what’s left of my hair 🤷🏼♀️ I have bangs now haven’t had bangs since Middle school. Good news is I’m not dying , hair will grow back but this wasn’t by choice. I’m happy to hear I’m not the only one experiencing this 👍🏻 my hair is a little jacked up but it’ll take awhile to get it back to where it was. I never thought this was linked to shampoo/conditioner I was using. Still shocked about it.

Yeah thanks for checking in my hair is still jacked up. It’s just a lot of short pieces mix with long pieces. It’s really annoying especially when I put my hair up. In a ponytail. There’s a Lotta regrowth coming in. It’s kind of embarrassing. Other than that all is fine.
The CEO of this brand seem to not care about any of the women in the lawsuit at all. Like they are lying and the these tests prove they are good for everyone.. but no one person is the same and the test are limited to the amount of people in them.. they should try to find out what happened to the women in the lawsuit.. she was also very cold and to her facts and not anyone else's much less the women who suffered.. definitely not buying the product due to the CEO and how much she cares less about the consumers who it hurt...

I live in the US. I lived in Atlanta for 8 years so maybe it's a mix of the south, LA and the northwest all mixed into one LOL.
I don't think it is the CEO's responsibility to act any real way if there is no proof the product does not cause this type of hair damage. There are many factors that could have contributed to hair loss and breakage... including personal health, medication changes, stress levels and most significantly, COVID which is known to cause minor to major hair loss in those who have contracted it. Certainly, not all people experience hair loss with the virus...but many do, especially after 3 months of contracting it.. She did recognize the sensitive and possible upsetting nature of hair loss issues.

When I contacted Olaplex about this issue, the customer service team was abrupt and without comment. And it was easy for them since no one would communicate by phone. It was only digital communication. So, they could easily hide. This is swarmy and guilty behavior, and it's not sensitive to their customers with questions and concerns. Her Instagram comment is too little too late from a customer service perspective. When you have customers inquiring about a catastrophic problem with your product, your customer service better be repaired with real information and sensitivity -- not hiding and MIA.

Or you know, you could just read experiences and testimony from these women (There literally thousands of women/people in a Facebook group having had the same bad experiences from olaplex for years now) and see they/we followed the directions and even some of those women couldn't have overuse the product since they only used it once but yeah sure, why not being insensitive and show you know nothing about a subject 🙄
This product should be banned and company closed I used product exactly how it said as soon as I finished I could see my hair breaking from the roots to the end of my hair that was past my bra strap down my back now it’s about 2-3 inches shorter and my bangs have broken off I have to wear a headband because I’m so embarrassed and don’t want to reveal my once beautiful long hair to the public it is that damaged I cry every day that I didn’t do more research on this products this horrible company is selling

How does anyone of these plaintiffs know for sure Olaplex has caused this? Perhaps they are allergic? I mean this just feels like they want to find blame for a payout. Also if you’re using the product incorrectly, then that’s on you.
Hi Erika, it will be interesting to learn how/why they have narrowed it down to Olaplex. Reading the comments from the CEO's post on IG, I came across quite a few comments from people who had similar experiences. I hope we learn more.

women have stop using Olaplex because their hair was looking awful and losing hair. Also some of these womens that ended up with issues on their scalp and hair have used it for years. Olaplex failed to test rigoursly on sensitive scalps. I believe they are guilty. I stop using Olaplex because I felt their formula weired on my hair and one of their shampoos made my hair, scalp very dry. We will see what happens in this lawsuit.🙏🤲

I’m not in the lawsuit and was unfortunate to experience the extremely brittle and damaged hair after using it (2018) How do I know it was Olaplaex? The first time I had a salon use it on me, I had unusually brittle hair near the fine hair line I did not know she used it, she never said anything about using anything, I just went searching for a good at home product for damaged hair I found Olaplex no 3 at home treatment I used that one time, according to the directions, and I had a horrible broken tangled gnarled mass of hair that never recovered When I went to the salon for some help as to what I could do, she told me to use Olaplex, which I then learned she had used it on me the two weeks prior and then I explained I had used No 3 and here we are I had to cut it all off about 2 months later because I literally could not comb it wet and clumps of hair would fall off my head and run down my back in the shower I’ve never experienced anything since and it was the only change from my 40 years of life That’s how I know I had no dermatitis reactions, only extremely damaged hair

Now that we have for ONCE a product that really helps for damaged bleached hair, we are going to nitpic and make a huge issue about it just because few ppl may have used it wrong or are allergic to an ingredient but 98% of people - are not. :). I think this is all done by another big company that wants to annoy Olaplex and perhaps even buy them in the end.
are you serious ? did you even tried to read about those victims experiences ? there is nearly 10 000 people in a facebook group (olaplex hair loss) who had issues with olaplex for years now, and people from all around the world. The lawsuit was a big time coming because we tried to sue them for some time now but either didn't have the financial ressources or didn't live in the right country (like me unfortunately) etc... so yeah some months ago, only 30 women sued olaplex, but now it's over 100 and the number is growing with the media talking about it. 10 000 having the same issues and that's only the people knowing about the face book group, there is for sure more people around the world having the same issues. I was there from the beginning and let me tell you, it's heartbreaking what we experienced. And no it was not from our bad use etc... because a lot of people experienced hair loss after only 1 use at a hair salon ! Or used the product after olaplex customer service advices etc... so how is it the fault of 10 000 people ? And if it was like you said because of an allergie to an ingredient then maybe olaplex products souldn't be sold because 10 000 being allergic is a big red flag... If you are all really interested, think about joining the face book group and see for yourselves all the different uses and experiences from olaplex customers and the heartbreaking stories and photos proving our claims and why this lawsuit is really necessarry. Hope you can all understand our side of the story and why those brave women are suing this brand
