    Hey Nerdville,
    You are building so many wonderful things but the best of them are the relationships. The 'things' will be gone in 50 years but the way you honor your children will bear fruit for generations.
    Go Nerdlings, go!

    That stop-motion unboxing was awesome, I'm sure it took a long time to do, but the results are beautiful to watch.
    I agree, with you on the build, It was an absolute dream to do. Luckily for me, my MK2 only took 3 days to arrive.
    My other printers were built for learning too, but the MK2 is in a class of it's own.

    • @NERDVilleUK
      @NERDVilleUK  Před 7 lety

      I'm glad you agree. There comes a time where a DIY printer needs to stop being a tinkering toy and start being a full fledged tool. Very glad to have got the Prusa it means I can send a print knowing it is dimensionaly accurate and just get on with my other projects at last.

    Love the stop motion and time-laps in this video. Well done!
    Am also thinking about getting one myself, because I am a true starter in the 3D printing theme and don't want to tinker around with the cheap ones where it looks like you have to tinker a LOT until they really work. And it seems nearly everyone is hyped about the mk2 :)

      Honestly, this is not a paid review of any kind. I strongly recommend this printer. I have been able to print CAD models with a 0.1mm +/- tolerance and parts have just snapped together like they were machine molded. AMAZING. Not say that things won't go wrong and they do but this will be covered in the Final part The ONLY Review

    An error made with assembly of the printer: One can see the Z-xis metal support rods are extending far above the orange brackets on both sides. They should only be barely protruding from these top brackets. Have a look at Prusa's website and compare it. This could possibly be affecting stability or prints. I noticed when Tom assembled his printer in that epic 13.5 hour video, he also put the rod in to find it didn't go away the way down, but realized this was wrong and changed something slightly and the rod went all the way down.

  • @TheVoiceOfKojie
    @TheVoiceOfKojie Před 7 lety

    I noticed that you didn't go with the kit linear bearings and looks like you went with the ingus drylin bearings. Was there any significant noise difference on those versus the kit bearings ?

    • @NERDVilleUK
      @NERDVilleUK  Před 7 lety

      Hey, Felix.
      It's hard to say as I did not use the standard LM8UU bearings and take a dB reading then moved over to a the Drylin bearings. If anyone has a Prusa on their stock bearing and has an iphone 6s to measure the dB I can do the same my end maybe that would be comparable enough.
      Although I feel the noise this machine produces is acceptable and there are other parts you can print from Thingiverse which does make a major impact on the noise levels.
      Also, I would never use the quiet mode as the current sent to the stepper motors is much reduced and so it takes the smallest of interference for this nozzle it missed a step in the layer and throwing out the print. ALL of my failed prints were because of this and since then I have had zero miss stepped prints since changing the mode to normal mode.

    • @Chickey
      @Chickey Před 7 lety

      It was a good £50 or £60 i'm sure. I have to say though i'm getting some good results with my CTC now and quite happy with it now i've gotten things dialed in a little.

    • @NERDVilleUK
      @NERDVilleUK  Před 7 lety

      Colin Hickey I've not given up on my CTC but was just tired of using lame slicer for it. Also I was finding myself tinkering more with that printer than actually getting work done.

    • @Chickey
      @Chickey Před 7 lety

      Yeah that was my first lesson in that with something like the CTC it's rarely set and forget although i must say i've not had to level it for a while and using PLA i'm getting very reproducible results. I've went back to painters tape on the glass for now and fixed a major skipping issue which was wiring and it freezing/crashing which was a lack of grounding so much happier with it.

    Also you realise that the Prusa i3 is a RepRap printer right? In that you can print all of the plastic parts yourself (legally and actually), and that all of the other bits are available from China, cut to length even, for incredibly cheap? With a lead time of about 3 weeks. Yes even the RAMPS and Arduino guts of it :D Oh and you can use an old PSU from a dead or obsolete computer to run the darn thing ^-^

    how long did the build take?

    • @nilla3d
      @nilla3d Před 7 lety +1

      It seems to be taking most people 6-10 hours on average.
      If you check my channel out I streamed the whole process and between assembly and talking to people in chat it took approx 11-12 hours all together.
      Its a relatively easy kit to assemble but there are a few parts that take a little time and care to do properly. Overall I'd highly recommend the Mk2.
