This film single-handedly helped me get through my deployment in Afghanistan. This script essentially became the background music for the entire year, and brought me so much joy during a very emotionally crushing experience. Thanks to each of you so much.
I'm sorry you joined the army.
I love this, I am glad you were able to power through the difficult phase

Everyone is entitled to their opinion.
THANK YOU for your service. My Papaw served in WW2 in the Korean War. We lost him last year at 91
I will always preach that Hot Rod is one of theee most underrated silly comedies of all tiiiime!!!
Hot Rod contains perhaps my favorite line in all of cinema:
“The bathroom here is nuts”
Saw if after long time this weekend. Almost died of laughter at this scene.
Such an insanely quotable movie. Some people have Napoleon Dynamite. Some people have Borat. I have Hot Rod.
I have dodge ball quotes and tropic thunder quotes
"Borat" is fucking gold.
But "Hotrod" is hella underrated... I love it.
Just like "Grandma's Boy"
“I’VE BEEN DRINKING GREEN TEA ALL DAY” goes off in my head an inordinate amount of times during the week.
Soul of a bottlenose Dolphin
Hot Rod is an underrated masterpiece of comedy. My friends and I still quote it regularly. Just yesterday I said "don't even ask, just bring it!"
Hot Rod was one of the first things me and my best bud bonded over 12+ years ago. We did Kevin's spin dance move at our senior prom and still break it out every once in a while
I have purchased 3 hard copies of this movie. I randomly saw it theaters bc my buddy got free tickets. Hands down top comedy of all time for me. I cant even count how many times ive seen this. I lost my 3rd dvd of it so now it'll be four haha. Perfect movie. Thank you guys.
Vastly underrated movie! One of my all time fave comedy films.
When you're going on a date, you put on a shirt and ride your bike to the daaaaaate 😂

Oh God, there is two now????
You’re a legend and you’ve done it again, thank you! Have a great week see ya next week!
These sponsors really are like "Yes, the kinds of people who are big Hot Rod fans are homeowners and employers".
Dude, it's insane you guys have gone so long without watching this!
Hot Rod is one of the best movies of all time, it's up there with Pineapple Express and Scott Pilgrim when I come to quotes and iconic moments!
Love all your guys work, and I hope you come to love it as much as your real fans 🙏🏾
Richardson's dance is one of the top 5 OMG I can't breathe and have laughed until it hurts all over laughs for me. I dearly LOVE this movie.
Pools are perfect for holding water man
The crucial part of the line where Kevin is showing Rod his browser is where he said it’s something else he’s working on “for mom”
I know Seth thinks it's "dumb," but this is the movie that has made me laugh the hardest, the most consistently. I consider it one of the funniest movies ever.
"My name is rod, and I like to party"
"I know for a fact, that you do NOT PARTY!" 😂
Hot Rod taught me how to make friends. no joke just started doing shit like they did as a 9 year old. Before that I pretty much didn't talk. My parents were worried. now they're just disappointed
Finding and setting off bags of fireworks with strangers sitting on a curb is the only way to make actual friends that I'm aware of. The movie really delivers on sound life advice and I'm glad it worked out for both of us; though I think I was 20 when this movie came out but fuck man, Never too late to make your first friend XD
both the “i’m rod and i like to party” scene and “i said you look shitty, goodnight denise” *sprints away* make me howl with laughter every time i watch it 😭 also this made me go back and rewatch the film today, just as funny as the first 4 times
Hot Rod and Superbad are the 2 best comedies ever
"You can never never never never Never Never Never Never "
Im gonna watch palm springs tmrw. SO EXCITED
Hot Rod is one of my favorite movies, great to fall asleep to!
There's honestly nothing I enjoy more in life than a deep inside-baseball dive into niche goofball comedic fare from the mid-aughts. My face hurts from grinning the whole way through this. I love this film so so so so much. I can't wait for part two, but I could listen to these buds tell stories from the film for another twenty parts. Cool beans!
I’m a simple man. I see Hot Rod I click
Underrated movie. So good!
This is my hat now! This is totally my hat! 😂😂😂
I been drinking green tea all God damn day!
@@y5mgisi 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽😂
Don't you ever tell me how to live my life again
Thanks for making a special for my favorite movie with my favorite people ❤️
Had to pause this podcast, to go watch HOT ROD again. It will always be on my list of favourites.
Childhood favorite. Hot rod molded my humor
My daughter is 13.. and I've literally never heard her laugh so much in her life. Even the broken window bit had her going a while.
been waiting for this one
Hot Rod was my sons favorite at 2yrs old! Was Hot Rod for halloween and He would wheelie his balance bike and ask if we wanted to see a Big Ass Stunt! 😂 he is 8 now still Loves the movie and most jokes are still over his head... He asks and we tell him some stuff is still above his pay grade to explain... Huge Fans in our house!
One of my favourite movies. Plus playing John Farnham, brilliant.
Honestly one of the greatest of all time
This is the hardest I’ve laughed listening to these episodes. They’re all great, but Hot Rod is pure gold.
I grew up watching HOT ROD and it pretty much formed my sense of humor lol
I watched Hot Rod for the first time when I was in elementary school. It replaced the Producers (2005) as my favorite movie. I turn 23 in a few days and Hot Rod is still one of my favorites. This is such a treat, thank you :)
I can not get over Jomra's joy doing the ad reads 😅 it's probably my favorite part each week!
"Thet's not a staplah... this is a staplah!" - Office Dundee
Sine the day I watched HOT ROD I've used "You're the voice" as my alarm clock... cause I want things to start super positive and then get crazy
Had to scroll waaaay too far down to find the first mention of this brilliant scene and song choice
Single greatest film of my generation ❤❤❤ thank you lonely island for staying weird!
Hot Rod is literally my favourite film. Every single scene is highly quotable and the cast is heavy as fuck. Love that they got Ian McShane. Really good.
If you haven’t watched “Hot Rod”, do yourself a favor and pause this podcast & go find a copy to watch at least twice (if not way more) then come back and listen to this podcast.
I love HOT ROD, still one of my favorite comedies!!!!
Seth calling himself the Connor Roy of this podcast is so funny
I can't wait to find out if it was a huge box office success!!!
Yeah don't you ever tell me how to live my life again. I saw Hot Rod in theaters Summer of 2007 with my siblings and they wanted to see Hairspray after, but I ended up just seeing the glory that is Hot Rod again by myself. My clip of the Cool Beans scene I recorded in the theater still lives on my dead Motorola Rizr Z3 somewhere in the universe. Hot Rod will always be a comedy classic and hits all the right humor notes - the random jokes/bits and reactions are on a whole other level, and some lines/moments that may not seem funny on paper are hilarious due to delivery or not sitting with/explaining the joke and you're laughing like "wait, what was that??", it's beautiful. The perfect comedy and in a league of its own and still brings me and my friends to tears from laughing. It truly is a movie that was made by friends and you're along for the ride, the love shows through, Hope the boys keep making more movies like it MAY YOUR HAMMER BE MIGHTY
Hot rod is one of my all time favorite movies. Watched it dozens of times.
Hot rod is a core childhood memory and one of my favorite movies🤣 I can just see the mom hitting a backflip and it just pans to Andy’s face and he does the “whatever” face like in b99🤣
This was one of my favorite movies through high-school. I have many great memories of watching this at sleepovers
If it was a three way bachelor party...that's that incredibad.
The first time my sister watched Hot Rod she asked if y'all followed me around for a few days to get ideas. Needless to say the movie and all of the characters resonated DEEPLY with me.
The idea of Rod flipping a waterbottle, then his mom backflipping made me laugh incredibly hard.
Hot Rod is my favorite movie, it was a mainstay at house parties, and the way Ian McShane said "you couldn't beat a drum" was absolutely devastating
I am rewatching now and all these jokes are landing for me. I love when he find s out frank is dying and wips out a Baton and says one more for the road.
I highly recommend Whoopie Boys. You won't learn anything, but there are stellar moments and likeable leads being rascals and a boy meets girl to move everything along. Great ensemble with Denholm Elliott, Eddie Deesen and Taylor Negron all banging out quotable lines. We used to watch it after work every night for like a year. Wore out the VHS. Beer was involved.
While I'm here, the "Morning Of" sequence in Hot Rod gave me, truly, my biggest laughing fit in 20 years. Speaking of stellar moments.
I love Hot Rod so incredibly much. I just recently rewatched it (for like the 5th time). It is utterly hilarious. My brother in law of 15 years of age absolutely loved it too.
There is no tool…in this pool 😂😂
This movie is so fantastic. I am delighted others fell in love with it, too.
I’ve always loved Hot Rod and it’s a go-to. It’s ridiculous and hilarious and full of heart and I’m so glad it found its footing.
This was our school's one dvd that was watched whenever a teacher was out
I love Hot Rod so much! Im so glad you did this episode
about the puking; hot rod is one of my favorite movies ever made, and so the last time I came down with a stomach bug i put it on while i recovered from throwing up, only to realize as I watched it that rod pukes like five times in this ninety minute film. other than that it’s actually a pretty good sick day movie lol
one of the first movies i remember watching, and its still one of my favorite movies ive ever seen
Cool beans. One of my all time faves
Best podcast going! Love it so much
I don't want to listen to this podcast, but I needed to make a comment that HotRod is one of my favourite movies
As a Brit I'm offended you bleeped the C word! 🤪
Also I love this movie and I love you guys, I could listen to you talk about it for hours ❤❤
youtube hates the C word and demonetizes and age restricts videos that use it. so stupid.
what a classic 10/10
OH MY GOD YES
WHaaaWHY are they saying WwwHHHaaaatt whaaaaaaatttt way
Family guy did the same joke with "cool whip"
Omg best morning in ages!!!!❤❤
In the movie commentary, right at the end when the Technicolor logo came up they joked that Technicolor would be a good dog name. And so I had a little dog named Tech. RIP.
The "WHHat" Gang Starr reference is JFK 2 LAX.
How doesn’t this have more views…?
Sad that it wasn't received so well, I watched it with my brothers and cousins on a campout and none of us knew anything about it and it wasn't an instant favorite for all of us. It's one of my kids favorites now too
babe wake up there's a new The Lonely Island and Seth Meyers Podcast episode
"Dave's not here man". A partier turned professor, or even partying professor, legit!
I had a piece of metal fly into my eye when trimming a bracket for a staircase. Building houses for a summer job. Not a lot of green tea tho
Great hearing the guys who wrote it quote it 😅 love this film
The vibes at the end of this podcast were very “THE DOC’S ALIVE! I mean he’s in the old west but…. HE’S ALIVE!”
I love this movie, I love this pod.
A friend of mine and I were talking about it and we would love to hear the comedy film Mt Rushmore or top 5 from each of the guys.
So many questions I didn't even know I wanted answers for that have been in my head for the last 15+ years are getting answered here and it's so good. I've been wondering why the hell Kevin had a Whoopee Boys poster on his wall since the first time I saw this movie and the answer has somehow surpassed all expectations. I can't believe the studio offered that up as an option.
Gotta do a video podcast guys! stoked to start listening!
I missed it in theaters and grabbed it in the $3 bin at Walmart one summer night. Easily the best $3 I have ever spent.
I can't believe they didn't mention it came like a week before superbad. I rented hot rod accidently instead of superbad. My brother was mad at me cause superbad was what all our friends was talking about. Then it became one our favorite movies. 😂
Damn. I need that bottle flip scene.
I second what @bhseigel said but for my senior year of high school. You guys created what I feel is my core humor identity. Ha. Favorite movie to this day. Been so excited for this episode.
It also was in theaters at the same time as super bad and the simpsons movie if i am remembering right.. hard to break out with that competition
Great podcast about one of my favorite movies, it only took the inclusion of subtitles even if they are in English, I think artists tend to forget that they have a global reach
i recently found a sealed copy of an hd/dvd copy of this movie in my storage.
yey.. more
A lot of us were drinking way too much before the pandemic. Doing gummies is a much better alternative 🎉🎊🐿️
Yay!
Great podcast, gents! Sorry to spam comments, but that's what I was thinking throughout. I'm one of that percent that listened til the end (I do a little channel myself).
Love your work, SNL, and especially the Incredibad album!!! You too Seth, SNL legend for sure!🎉
56:48
New episode? Cool beans.
Hoping for some stories about the QotSA cameo in part 2
The "I Like to Party" bit is a classic. So much so that I was a bit disappointed to hear about how it was put together. Was hoping for an entire episode on it. Sort of. Not really. But sort of.
Directors cut of hot rod now!!!!
You know, pools are great for holding water.
Nooice!!!
i watched it super recently for the first time its a little crazy how much gen z-type humor there is in it lol
