- Just which demons in Innocent Sin are homophobic? I wanted to find out.
This is my first time ever even touching any sort of video editing, so forgive any weirdness - Hry
"What he and I have is not taboo..." That is so sweet, and my heart is melting. Definitely one of the best responses during a demon negotiation in this game.
Some of the responses were surprisingly cute when I was going through all of them - that one is definitely very high up there though - I'm glad it was in the game

this experiment is even funnier if you contextualise it in the game. like tatsuya just says "guys lets go grind in the abandoned factory" and then spends the entire time flirting with jun in front of demons.
Persona 2 IS' demons could be then categorized as: Allies, Clueless but supportive, Utterly clueless, Homophobic, Jack Frost, and Christians.
Not all Christians are homophobic tho. God loves ALL His children. I know plenty of Christians who are allies and most are just clueless but supportive or utterly clueless. You just only see the really homophobic ones in the news and on social media.

I mean, based off of the like Christian definition of what demons are, yes, but the SMT and Persona demons are a result of the collective unconsciousness, so are therefore reminiscent of human feelings and perception. If you look at it that way, the numbers actually make a lot of sense I think!

@@quil72Christain demons aren't allies, they're nilhilistic embodiments of evil and non-existence. They don't support gay rights, they support NO rights. The more evil and injustice there is in the world, the stronger they grow. They despise existance itself, everything God has created, and seek to return everything into nothingness. Since God created gay people and everything God created is good, demons and the forces of darkness hate gay people, but that won't stop them from manipulating both sides (getting gay people to abandon and hate God and getting false prophets to hate God's children) to gain power and influence.
Most pagan religions were not accepting of homosexuality so that should answer your question.

The rumors are that both P2 and P4 are getting remakes, wonder if they add more demons if the new demons will be less homophobic. Also hope they add more flashbacks that are optional so that we can see more similar stuff to the wedding store flashback

@@masureiiiii they refused to add femc to p3 cause that would mean rewriting the answer since Shinji can survive. They will not go out of their way to deleting the romance cause that would mean rewritting alot of his character

It makes sense that daemons are homophbic in SMT, since daemons are reflections of the human subconscious and Persona 2 takes place in 1999 where homosexuality was a lot less widely accepted. In a game like Soul Hackers 2, (2055) Strange Journey, (2020) SMT5, (20XX) or the eventual Persona 6 (2028) that take place in the future, daemons would likely be a lot less homophobic.

Note: "Demon King" is the nickname of Oda Nobunaga, what makes this funnier is that "Rokuten Maou", Kanji's ultimate Persona in P4 is also supposed to be Oda Nobunaga.

we're slowly getting better in terms of progressiveness in modern persona times at least! they removed the transphobic scene in persona 3 reload, so we're getting somewhere at least :D
i appreciate the work you put into this video. it definitely could have been a short and sweet presentation of the results, but the additional commentary and discussion of queer representation in the games really elevated it to a thoughtful discussion. even if not created for the right reasons, persona 2's lgbt rep in 1999 is still powerful to this day. i hope going forward we can tell better stories about gender and sexuality in the persona series now that we have a new director.
Oh yes! I've been playing through Reload after not letting myself get spoiled for any of the new/updated things and I was pleasantly surprised by that change (makes it kind of a funny scene now too)

I am genuinely curious what they're going to do in Persona 6. I know that there's a difference in progressiveness when it comes to same sex couples in the west versus in Japan (I'm definitely not an expert on that front though), but I think they've come to realize that the games are also popular to western audiences and I'm interested to see if that has an affect on what they decide to include in the games
I doubt that the reason some Demons are angry is simply because they are being ignored. Anyway, Jun is so cute! If I were Tatsuya, I would choose him.
Ohh...I just noticed the channel is not a big one, but really would be amazing if more content like was made, sure the persona 2 fandom population would increase, I approve it!

Technically P2 isn’t the only game to have a LGBTQ romance , if you’re playing as the female protagonist Kotone in p3 you can romance Elizabeth and Aigis

huh, if there was a remake of these games, this and Eternal Punishment, would they combine the games or expand on them?
My guess would be that they'd either combine them or just release them as some sort of bundle. I can't imagine them adding any more actual story on though - everything already wraps up so nicely and with an air of finality about it

@missNekolover91 They're probably both about 30 or 40 hours long, so somewhere between 60 and 80 when put together. And I doubt that they would - it's a very different style of game and I don't think social links would fit into it nor do I think they're super necessary for the story that it tells
@@quil72 hmm yeah I get it, but since the newer games have social link, it could fit the 2th game, they would need to expand on the characters more, even tho they seemed perfect already
Say what you will on Tatsuya x Jun or the rocky progressive legacy Persona 2 has, I sincerely hope relationships influences demon dialogue in future MegaTen games even if on a level like this.

He was a homeless starving artist in Munich post-WW1 and had to do homosexual sex work against his will in order to pay for food, which along with the rising fascist sentiments in Munich radicalized him into the monster we now know. Didn't help that both the people who denied him from art school, which contributed to his poverty, and the rich people who he was forced to sell himself to, both so happened to be Jewish, leading to Hitler to delusionally believe that all Jews were out to get him and were "sexual degenerates." He believed that the whole war was a conspiracy so that Jewish people could make the German people poor and enslave them because they were the only ones with wealth post-WW1, which was actually because of their smart investments and lucrative multi-national banking jobs and not some crazy conspiracy. Hitler was not only an anti-semite, but also a crazy conspiracy theorist and radical homophobe because of his negative experiences shaping his world view. If even just one of various factors in Hitler's life was different, WW2 would have never happened and Japan would rule the entire world minus America which would be a theocratic hellhole. Hitler was a false antichrist set up by God in order to steer the worldline away from Japanese world domination, similar to how Cain was set up to kill Abel in order to become the first murderer and martyr.
