As an INTP, you might be right about strict but somehow neglectful parent. I believe today I'm raising an ENFP boy, such a joy, thank god.

It's great to hear about your experience as an INTP and your perspective on parenting! Strict but neglectful parenting can indeed shape personality traits, often leading to an introspective and analytical nature. Raising an ENFP child must be a delightful and dynamic experience, filled with creativity and enthusiasm. It's wonderful that you're providing a joyful and nurturing environment for your child. Remember, every personality type brings unique strengths and opportunities for growth, and your understanding as an INTP can offer a balanced and thoughtful approach to parenting. Thank you for sharing your experience!

But how is it possible then for the same parents to raise different personality types children? It cant be only the consequence of parental upbringing? It is also a set of childs character traits , isnt it ?

I have no psychological background, but I can say it is incredibly difficult to treat each of your children the same.

Thank you for your insightful question. Indeed, while parental upbringing is a significant factor in shaping personality, it's not the only one. My video on INFJs summarizes and generalizes real cases, showcasing how different people with similar experiences can develop different personality types. The title of the video reflects common patterns but doesn't encompass every possible scenario.
From a psychological perspective, personality is shaped by a combination of genetic factors, environmental influences, and individual experiences. Siblings can have different personalities despite having the same parents because each child interacts with their environment in their own unique way. They might respond differently to the same parenting style due to their inherent traits and personal experiences outside the family, such as friendships, school, and other social interactions.

Great video. I just have some issues.
    1. INTPs in love isnt isolated to just intellectual basis, that's more into the sterotypes than the actual representation of a type. We do fall in love based on connections and feelings.
    2. I believe youre suggesting that nurture creates the mbti type, maybe im wrong, but if thats tge case, its the first ive heard of it. Because what involvments do the factors like brain patterns and temperament play into the situation? Also, parents with similar parenting styles don't always have INTP kids, so on what basis did you derive your conclusion.
    Again, lovely video.

Thank you for your insights. My intention was not to suggest that nurture alone creates MBTI types. Personality development is influenced by a complex interplay of genetic factors, brain patterns, temperament, and environmental influences.
However, family environment can have a significant impact on how these traits are expressed. In my counseling experience, I’ve seen how a particular family environment can amplify certain tendencies, such as those seen in INTPs.

What about if a child has a warm and loving family but faces ostracization and/or teasing by the peer group outside the home, for example, in the neighborhood or at school? Could this cause a child to develop INTP traits?

    • @EmotionalOdysey
      @EmotionalOdysey  Před měsícem +2

Experiencing ostracization or teasing from peers can indeed impact a child's personality development, even if they come from a warm and loving family. While a supportive home environment provides a strong foundation, negative social interactions outside the home can lead to changes in how a child copes and interacts with the world.
If a child is not naturally inclined towards the INTP personality type but faces significant social challenges, they might develop some traits associated with INTPs as a coping mechanism. For instance, they may become more introspective, analytical, or independent as they seek solace in their inner world to escape negative external interactions.
However, this does not necessarily mean they will fully develop into an INTP. Personality development is influenced by a combination of genetic predispositions, inherent traits, and a wide range of experiences. While external teasing or ostracization can encourage certain coping behaviors, the child's core personality traits will still play a significant role in their overall development.

@@EmotionalOdysey Your answer is very interesting. Thank you! I had a rough time with the other kids growing up and retreated into my shell. But as an adult, I am well-accepted by my students and colleagues at the community college where I teach. As a result, I am much more gregarious now. I also founded and ran a performance troupe (made up of adult actors and dancers) for eight years as a pet project. I thoroughly enjoyed directing the group, writing plays and choreographing dances, and making up the performance line-ups -- and, of course, performaning on stage, myself! I have always wanted my artistic endeavors to be seen by audiences, even when I was a shy child. I've taken the MBTI test on the 16 personalities website a number of times. I've tested as an INTP four times and as an ENTJ four times. Now I'm wondering if the INTP result is a shadow of my true ENTJ self or visa-versa!

Today is the first day i saw your videos, and I can't stop watching one after another. Thanks for making these high quality informative videos. I'm an infj and son is INTP. Being developed in asian region i wanted to build my son as a self dependent man who will do his work not depending on his female partners etc. Watching this vedio i am feeling slightly depressed assuming that he might be emotionally suppressed because my approach. Me n my husband both have very good relation with my son, but both of us are very busy with our work. So we try to provide quality time rather a lot of time. Knowing all the info about intp, i was wondering as a caring but strongly logically wired mother how do I make sure my son shares his emotion with the family members or friends when needed rather facing it alone. He is 14 only, is there something i can do things for him. I was loner throughout my life and always thought dofferently from others and used to hear that why am i always need to go in different direction than others. I used to think my son is like me, and have him a lot of space and decide by himself. Not sure if he thinks that there is none to share his emotion. Curious to know from you.

Thank you for your kind words and support of our videos! It's heartwarming to hear that you find them informative and engaging.
Your reflections on your parenting approach and concern for your son's emotional well-being are both commendable and relatable. Parenting is indeed a vast and nuanced topic, and every child is unique in their emotional needs and responses.
The fact that you're reflecting on your own experiences and how they might influence your son.As an INFJ and a parent to an INTP, you're likely already attuned to the subtleties of emotional expression. Your son is fortunate to have a mother who is so thoughtful and proactive about his emotional development. The fact that you're reflecting on your own experiences and how they might influence your son.Your son is at a fortunate age where he can still learn and adapt. By providing a supportive environment where he feels comfortable expressing himself, you're already doing a great deal for him. It's okay to be concerned, but also trust in the relationship you've built with your son and the positive influence you have on his life.
Keep the lines of communication open, continue to provide quality time, and know that your caring and logical approach is valuable.I will be releasing more videos related to family dynamics in the future. Through ongoing learning, we can refine our educational methods and improve the way we nurture our children.
