Thank you. Had a throttle body come loose and couldn't figure out how to get them out without seeing the access window on the right side in your video. Whew!
Glad it helped!!
Just watched this video to install on my sdr 990 - mine is the one with the tank in the way of the front plate. Watched it frame by frame - this guy is a pro, don't expect it to be this easy! Dropped torx bits, lost screwdrivers... But that's just me - all in all - best tutorial ever!
great instructor. best I have seen ! no fancy music, no ahm..ahm..ahm, cut to important pieces, just perfect. thx.
Thanks for posting this video! I have the instructions that came with my kit, but seeing it first hand is super helpful. Just installed onto my SuperDuke 990 yesterday and it's like having a brand new (and improved) bike!
Biggest improvement for my 950 , 1290 , works great .
Great video, looked a bit complicated and tedious but very doable, great instructions, very detailed, Thank you.
Thx alot fore this. the intake is my next uppgrade on my smr and this made it look like childsplay
Thanks the video makes me want to try this for mine
Very clear tutorial and I like the video editing with the time frames underneath the video. Thanks!
Thank you! Funny thing about that, CZcams changed their timeline appearance and how things work so we can't do that anymore, but it was a cool little feature at the time. Glad you liked it.
Did the upgrade installation on my 2012 990 adv, I wish I would have had this video at hand! I still need to buy and install the Dongle for the FI light, as the European model differs from the US model still a bit of guidance on that. Great product! Worth every penny 👍👍👍
Que moto maravilhosa!
great video! do you have one for 1190 adventure?
I have installed on my 07 950 SMR And recently on my KTM 990 SMR , One the best investments I've made for performance , Keep up the good work !
Do you remember what size of jets you used for the 950 SMR when installing the new filter?
@@foursidegraphics it’s fuel injected lmao
Still really helpful👍, thanks.
Thank you!!
will it benefit me to add the Intake system to RC8(meaning the one for the Adventures)
would it be possible to just keep the SAS cylinder plate with the hose and just plug the hose it since its a mess to undo the screws?
If I don't re-map my 990 advr, will it run poorly or what could the consequence be?
Hi I have a question for Chris , I have a 950sm with the Rottweiler system, what should I do with the Y float vent hose? Should I put a cap on it ? Please help.
nice video , i bought the kit ! but i have a question , do i use the stock VELOCITY STACKS ?
yes you do
Hi Guys very good video. Do you have one for the 1190 Adventure?
Of course, it's probably our most popular intake system. Although the 690/701 intakes are doing really well right now.
Sorry but bit off subject but with the carbon husqvarna subframes could you do a fe 350 2019 model plz
Haven't managed to find the video of the oiling process for the rotty filter you mentioned is available. I oil it just like any other foam type filter but there will be customers who have never had to do it before buying your product.
What's the purpose of oiling the foam filter? If it's all oily and wet, doesn't it attract more dirt and grim?
All foam filters should be oiled. That is what the dirt particulates stick to. Paper uses surface area and finer holes, but doesn't flow well. Dirt bikes have been using oiled foam for decades.
Hey, thanks for the great video, really clear and precise instructions. Just fitted mine and the SAS removal but now getting the FI light on permanently and can hear a sucking sound when ignition is on. Any suggestions would be great?
We would make sure the dongles are plugged in properly. Check those and if there is still an issue give our support lines a call and those guys can try to walk you through any issues. Not sure about the sucking sound though. Maybe record it on video and send it to info@rottweilerperformance.com. We have never heard that one!
@@RottweilerPerformanceI have 990 super Duke year 2005 and this sistem solve the problem with the throttle on slow speed an revs?
@@cristiantamasila8667 There is no complete 'fix' for that, but there are large Band-Aids. Some of which are this intake, and especially better mapping with a fueling controller like a Power Commander. Other than that, the fuel injection was archaic and it kid of is what it is, but this stuff will help.
@@RottweilerPerformance getting 9 blinks on the FI light. Tried the old SAS connector and same thing so thing SAS is ok. Any suggestions?
Hi, I would like to eliminate SAS on my KTM 990 SMR. Which kit do you suggest? Can I do this job without removing air box or remove and re- installing is necessary? Thank you in advance.
You can either choose the SAS stage 2 or 3. They both do the same thing, but stage 3 will allow you to check the sync on your throttle bodies easily and at any time if you are into that. You will have to remove your airbox, but if you are installing one of our intakes (you would be crazy not to) then it's all right there and easily done.
Hello . I have a 990 superduke 2012 . I want to purchase a rottweiler intake and sas stage 2 . Does i need a reprogrammation after instal or the lambda make it run correct ? Don't want to damage the motor
You won't damage the motor, but those engines were not fueled very well and all and a Power Commander V will work wonders for it, stock or not. We would highly recommend one, and we can set them up for free, but you certainly won't blow your motor without one. They will just compensate at 14.7 AFR in closed loop.

On the 950 i suppose you will have to change carb jets to suit higher flow in the intake, but in any case after conversion the bike will not be street legal anymore!Or does it?
That part we leave up to you. On the jetting, you should change it. Our Factory Pro Ti needle kits are a great way to have what you need on hand. www.rottweilerperformance.com/jetting-kits-for-ktm-lc8-950s/ Typical starting points (with that kit) are 168 front - 170 rear main - needle in the 3rd from top - pilot at 45 - float at around 4mm. That can go up or down depending on your altitude but will get you in the ballpark quickly. The Flex Jets are also key to fine tuning on the fly.www.rottweilerperformance.com/flex-jets/
Hi. I have a 2006 950sm and it was running great after this install, but then developed a condition where if I accelerate aggressively or hard, it starts to back fire like crazy, feeling like my chain snaps, or that I'm about to explode. Any clues what could have happened? A vacuum leak? My carbs dislodged?
It sounds like you just have an air leak somewhere. It could be at the exhaust with a crack or a gasket blow pulling oxygen in or an actual lean condition in your cylinders. I would just check the boots thoroughly to make sure the carbs are seated properly and check that if the emissions have been removed (almost everyone does) that there are no air leaks where the hoses used to go but that bike should not have much in the way of emissions because of the date it was manufactured. You should also re-jet the carbs with a the jet kit linked below. This is crucial on the carbed bikes. www.rottweilerperformance.com/jetting-kits-for-ktm-lc8-950s/
@@RottweilerPerformance -- Thanks for that. I did re-jet with that kit so I should have everything in order as far as parts go... and it was running like a dream for about a month... But I'll take a closer look to what you suggested. I'm starting to suspect perhaps my fuel pump is starting to get weird, but that's just from reading the internet.
@@majorawol That may very well be! Popping is almost always a lean condition, whether it's only in the header or from the motor itself you will need to figure out. Glad we could help shed at least a little light on this for you.
what height difference is there between the filter and the round one?
None, one is flat top and one is round. Both the same height.
Why do you get rid of the bottom part of the airbox?
It's not needed at all, nor will the fitler system fit with it. There is just no use to keep it.
Y cual es la idea de hacer eso , que beneficio trae?
"And what is the idea of doing that, what benefit does it bring?"
Much more horsepower. Easier maintenance with a servicable filter. The ability to have your filter in your hands and access the throttle bodies with only a screwdriver or coin in seconds. More room for tools. Better filtration.
does this part fit on a KTM 990 SMT? (2013)
Yes, all the 990 kits are the same. No matter the model.
Ok, thank you
2010 is the same yeah ?
Hey does this work for ktm 990 smt
Yes, exactly the same. All 990's are pretty much the same under the tank.
I am getting a whistling sound at low rpms. have you heard of this issue?
It’s your secondary throttle plates. The ones that the computer controls. In some occasions they can be at juuuust the right angle and can whistle slightly. When you open the throttle it goes away. It’s just a byproduct of that bike and harmless.
I have some more question.
- Can you recommend this kit for me. I ride about 35k - 40k miles a year.
- Will this kit affeced the where and there of the bike?
- Does it need more maintenance than the stock setup.
- How long last the filter?
- Can you recommend this kit for me. I ride about 35k - 40k miles a year.
Of course. There are no issues with that. Obviously the more miles on a bike the quicker things wear out, but your use is just fine.
- Will this kit affeced the where and there of the bike?
No, those engines are strong. If anything the filter will filter out more dust prolonging the wear and tear of the engine.
- Does it need more maintenance than the stock setup.
It is a foam filter, so it is washable and reusable. If you get the Snap Out bracket, maintenance is super easy. Use the pre filters as they will catch most of the dust and are easy to swap and clean.
- How long last the filter?
As long as you take good care of it, it should last years. We have some still in use after 5 years. We can supply filters alone to our previous customers if there is any issue.
Thank you for the reaction. 👍
Who's bike ?
How ktm managed to over engineer an intake baffles me.
Meoni must have had been his weekend
