Wudang Monk Spade is a versatile weapon that allows practitioners to use defense as attack and retreat as advance, combining agility with poise. In olden times, Taoists often carried spades when traveling that could be used for self-defense or to pave the road, hence it was also called "convenient spade." Zhang Haoran, 22, has been based in the Wudang Mountains, a sacred Taoist area in China, for eight years. Wudang Monk Spade is his main focus. #kungfu #kungfumasters #wushu

Very nice! "Accumulation" is probably the best word to describe how these skills manifest. No 'Chosen Ones', no magic formulas - just years of conscientious dedication. Well done! :)

Yes, that is the correct attitude. My motto for my students to learn is:
"Ten years to black belt. A lifetime to mastery."
I am now in my fiftieth year of study and practice. Those who are green continue to grow. Don't call this old man master. I am but an older student. Humility leads to wisdom.

Awesome insight into the Wudang Monk's life. May I know if they accept foreign disciples to their monastic life?

YES. There are Americans, Europeans, Africans and East Asian disciples in Wudang. One achieved Grandmaster level and is now teaching Wudang kung fu in Spain.

Was there for 6 months back in '13. Yes. They have been accepting foreign disciples since more than a decade ago. It's now an industry there, with kungfu schools offering lessons and board, whilst often teaching classes of foreign students in english
