If you press that button on the board twice it will display AF followed by the cfm, makes it really quick and easy
Great job brother. Didn't know some fans were adjustable on speed by adjusting the dip switches. Adding 100 cfm and dropping the cooling 4 or 5 degrees had to feel like huge improvement. Thanks for posting and keep up the good work!
you are a thorough technician and good at explaining things...thanks. my furnace is so loud i cannot talk on the phone while it is operating. crazy that years of discomfort can be solved by 2 minutes of work and no local techs have been able to fix it.
Did you just turn one of those switches down?
Same thing happened to me after a new installation of a furnace and A/C system.
It struggled to keep up cooling the 2nd floor while the basement was a meatlocker with tons of condensation on everything metal; the furnace, the lower ducts, etc..
During a routine inspection, which of course I paid for, he found that the airspeed was set too low at install.
So I had to pay good additional money to find out the same company didn't set it correctly at the very expensive installation.

Had my system installed during winter, just ran the system for the first time Air flow was terrible. System was set to the lowest setting at 750... One dip switch move, system poring out cold air.. Really great job and thank you.....

I know this is not the place to ask but do you happen to know if main board by EWC controls has adjustments for fan speed?
I replaced my main board with this new one so I could use google nest thermostats and for the past year I feel it doesn’t blow air like it used to.

2:09 - great video, I have the same system and noticed the bottom isn’t taped and warm air is blowing out. I plan to tape it up like you did later in the video but was curious what ensuring no air escapes helps - warm air exits the house versus pumped into basement (increased humidity)? Thank you!
The coil box standing half open was probably the biggest reason for poor air flow. The adjustment only added 100 cfm. Spreading that out though all the duct work. I know that is not nothing but air will take the path of least resistance. What was the temperature in that basement?
So on my furnace, could I reduce the fan speed by flipping DOWN one or two switches? Would it be from the same switch set?

I measure with device about 480 fpm at a vent quite distant from furnace. How does that likely compare to cfm at furnace. I now my ac is undersized at 1.5 because installer said my old air handler couldn't handle my hotwater system air handler. Now I have 75000 btu ruud. 11 years ago. Ac seems challenged a bit. Air coming out vent is 13 f lower than thermostat room temp. Also note is that I run my fan continuously. When heat is on fan speed increases from the continuous feed. For cool it remains at continuous speed. If I put fan to auto it does come on with ac but at that continuous speed, lower thsn heat. Should note that when guys installed new furnace 11 years ago they didn't even reconnect my ac wires. I did that myself and maybe I even set speed too low then.
I have a Rheem R96V gas furnace. It's pretty loud. Will lowering the CFM reduce the noise? Am in a 2500 sq ft house (2 floors). What is the ideal CFM? Thanks!!
Did you measure the total static pressure the system was seeing while at 1,200 CFM. maybe the S/A ducting is under sized???? If the return ducting is lined make that there is not a loose piece of liner flopping around :)
With an ECM blower motor that unit is probably rated for a Max 0.8 in.wc. total static.... 0.5 is a sweet spot to be at.

great video. i recently had a new rheem system installed in the summer and just recently started using the heater and it seemed to me that the blower on heat cycle was lower than when on cooling cycle. can you adjust the fan speeds of these independently? just happened to see your video and how easy it was to adjust of course you have to know which 1 to adjust the dip switch. just counting the times the light blinks and multiplying by 100. thanks
Yes you can adjust speed for heat and cool. Look in your manual and it will show the dip switch settings for each.
I think they are labeled on the board heat and cool by the dip switches
What controls the fan speed when the furnace is not actively burning? I want my fan to run all the time during heating and cooling. I want to increase the fan speed only when the AC is actively cooling. Standard speed otherwise.
Biggest issue there was the air leaks at the evaporator
How about the two code violations you didn't mention, one with the furnace and one with the tankless, and I didn't even include that awful gas piping which hopefully have drip pockets somewhere. I think you will be back with cooling issues as 100 CFM doesn't make that much of a difference and it would have been nice if you mentioned the tonnage of the A/C and furnace blower capacity.
You didn't even point out the lack of a drain on the coil That thing is gonna be rusted out and break that furnace so quick I'm surprised that lasted 5 years.
You sir, are blind 👍🏼 it has a drain and a clean out. Look back at the video.
@@diyhvacguycame here to to tell him the exact same thing. You can clearly see it off the left side of the a coil. Dude took one hvac class and thinks he’s an expert.
