Such an exact procedure and such a wide range between max and min. ;)

You can’t check the oil without following this procedure because that’s not the way a dry sump system works. This isn’t a lawn mower. Plus, your method would only allow you to check the oil on a cold bike that’s been sitting for a while. The oil checking procedure on an Indian is the same way.

Yes I agree. There’s only 2 points or time when the oil level can be measured correctly. Either operating temperature or totally cool. And I believe sump engines requires op.temp. Thank you for the comment and safe rides.

To save time for idling the engine to heat up the oil, I usually dip stick/change oil after ride from work.

Hekko hfjchan. That’s true. But must cautious because of the hot oil.

It's very important to do this correctly. If you put too much in it will come out in the oil condisit pipe

Yes the engine oil level is really important issue. And it is easy to check occasionally, or even more regular intervals.

If you're willing to play this game go ahead, but it's unnecessary, and poor engineering

God only knows why they make it so difficult. I followed your procedure and then I walked away from my motorcycle till it got cold and I checked it again, and the oil level was exactly the same place on the dipstick.

German Engineering once again screws up. How about fill the oil correctly and run the bike on center stand level for a few minutes. Let the bike completely cool, like overnight. Next day check the oil level, and scribe a line on the plastic dipstick showing the cold full mark. Then never play the German Engineer game again. Check the oil cold anytime you'd like.

Great idea. But how close the scribed line will be to the min level mark? And if it is close, one will be topping up all the time when checking the oil.

Have you seen the range on the stick? No, it doesn’t need to be exact.
