    Not only getting the school supplies, but the smell of them-the smell of new paper and crayons, also organizing them in my desk, these were my favorite things about going back to school.

    That cash register!…..I gasped when you unlocked it, opened it, and the bell rang….exquisite! Your quilts are beautiful. My favorite memory of fall is walking or driving through multicolored leaves falling from the trees….it’s mesmerizing. Thank you for another fun video. Blessings and take care.

    My favorite memories from back to school was buying crayons/colored pencils and many tablets. To this day I journal and always kept score for both my boys little league games. My grandson is in his senior year at college and plays ⚾️ and I still keep score from home. I still spend a small fortune in tablets 🤣 Taking notes on flosstubers takes a lot of paper 📝. Always look forward to your videos and have notes on the three quilts you have lined up and have used the All Hallows Eve fabric a few years back and now wish I had bought more jelly rolls but will look into the Pumpkins and Blossoms line. Also was taken back by the Pam Buda Butternut and Peppercorn jelly roll. Happy Stitching and enjoy your son being home from school. 🧵🪡👏🥰❤️👵

    Favorite fall memories are numerous, seeing friends I hadn't seen over the summer, football games, seeing the leaves change color n drop, even though I'm in my late 60's I still love walking thru the rustling leaves, kicking them around like a 6 yr old 😊

    I have never been antique-ing, but I really truly love the cash box. What a great find! I love your quilts and that particular joann fabric for the table runner. I like using ticking prints as accents, backing, and linings for various projects. I enjoyed seeing your thread dye process. About the favorite fall memory, mine was of some really pretty skirt/blouse combos that my mother made for me for my 7th grade school year. School started on my birthday that year, and I remember thinking that was a gift from the Lord because He knew I loved school. I love all your videos and always watch yours first whenever you have a new one.

    I loved getting a new box of 64 count crayons at the beginning of the new school year. Their waxy smell warmed my heart and all those beautiful colors were reflected in the changing colors of the forest trees on the nearby hills. I loved watching the vintage Fall cartoons, one I especially loved showcased Jack Frost with his artist's palette painting all the flora in Autumnal colors. My parents were both bakers, but didn't bake much in the Summer heat. As soon as cooler temperatures arrived, the baking started and I loved the smell of cinnamon rolls fresh from the oven, filled with rum soaked raisins, crunchy pecans and drizzled with creamy white icing. These were a few of my favorite Fall things.

    That money box is so cool! Super find! There are a lot of things I love about fall: the smell of a Big Chief tablet for school (yes, I am old), the smell of freshly sharpened pencils, the smell of fallen leaves, the crisp wind of fall, a relief from the heat (I don’t like to be hot). I could go on and on. The smell of a baked apple pie. Yum!! Happy stitching!❤

    I live in Eugene and it's nice to find FlossTuber's in Oregon. My favorite childhood memory about back to school is my birthday, Sept 10. I'll be 75 this year and the only other special back to school memory I have is buying new clothes for school. We lived in Indio, California when I started the 2nd grade. For some reason my mom bought me a cute sweater & skirt set. I loved it and wanted to wear it for my class photo. Indio is in the desert! So I remember being miserably hot at school that day.

    My favorite memory as a child was also back to school shopping! It was something I continued as a teacher. The elementary school my kids attended got smart and the PTA bulk bought supplies you could order. Each grade level made their list, you sent in a check, and they even delivered it to the classroom! The items were name brand! With bulk buying it was cheaper than buying them yourself. Love seeing all your goodies!

    What another beautiful visit tonight and a lovely way to celebrate the first of September. A favorite memory of mine in preparing to go back to school was shoe shopping..now mind you I went to Catholic school and we wore the white leather laced shoes. But after running barefoot all summer going into Kinneys or Thom Mc Ann and getting new shoes was a treat! It was thrilling to find out how much our feet had grown. Also the smell of the clean leather was delightful and that fragrance can send me back in a second. Our PE shoes were navy blue keds which new was another treat. Even though it is still hot I long for a new pair of leather shoes every September..definitiely NOT white leather tie shoes..lol… Cant wait to see your quilt progress! Happy September!

    First I just want to say that this was my first session with you and enjoyed it tremendously. I loved the cash box you scored! My favorite fall tradition was going apple picking with our son. His birthday is in the fall and we always made an annual birthday trip to an orchard..

    Growing up in NY state my favorite memory of fall was running through the fallen leaves while watching the leaves continue to fall down from the trees. The beauty of the colors of your stitching, quilting and wool work always catches my attention.

    Lori that drawer is fabulous. Quilts turned out beautiful. Do you do anything special to your quilts to keep the colors from bleeding when you wash them? Thanks for sharing have a great week! Glad the storm is leaving.

      I would recommend using a color catcher. These can be found in the detergent isle of the grocery store.

    Thank you for sharing how you use a damp/used tea bag to tea dye floss. Just curious do you heat set. Beautiful quilts!

    • @texstylust
      @texstylust  Před rokem +1

      Thanks for watching! No need to heat set. Tea and coffee actually stain the fibers. If you bake fibers (as is popular), you’re really just burning them darker. If it wasn’t dark enough after rinsing, then I would dab it again.

    Thank you so much for tea dyed floss tutorial. That looks really easy! Do you ever put it in the oven to dry, or do you always just let it air dry?

    • @texstylust
      @texstylust  Před rokem +1

      I always air dry. There really is no reason to put any fiber in an oven (although I know it’s popular). That basically burns the fiber.

      @@texstylust your floss looked so pretty. I have never done any, and you made it look so easy maybe I will. Good to know about the oven. Knowing me I would forget it and over do it anyway.

    How do you wash and store your quilts?

    • @texstylust
      @texstylust  Před rokem +1

      It depends on the quilt, but most that I use for daily are washed in the machine with a light detergent and dried in the dryer until almost dry, then draped. When not on a bed in use, they’re stored flat; stacked on each other on a spare bed. I need to up my game and find a cupboard to store in, because they’re heavy to move around!

    • @OMGImIrish
      @OMGImIrish Před rokem +1

      @texstylust do you use cold water and hand wash cycle for the washing, and low heat in the dryer?

    • @texstylust
      @texstylust  Před rokem +1

      @@OMGImIrish Usually cool water and low to warm temp on dryer. It really depends on the fabric, type of batting and type of quilt. I try to address it in more detail on the next FlossTube.
