    I own a EV too.
    You can't compare Ooty to Chennai with Chennai to Ooty. Because of the hill.
    Uphill consumes 2x to 3x more power.
    Downhill charges your car for 10-20%.
    Chennai to Ooty will require atleast 3 charges. you need to necessarily top up at avinashi before climbing hill.
    I had recently completed a trip to Kodaikanal.
    My observations are.
    Zeon is costlier but fast and reliable. Strategically Located within restaurants
    Tatapower is cheaper but slow and usually located inside their car showrooms.
    Relux is totally unreliable and slow.
    Most hotels in hill stations allow to use their AC power outlets for a nominal charge.
    My average power consumption was 22kwh/100km from Chennai to Kodaikanal and 18kwh/100km from Kodaikanal to Chennai.
    Average of 20kwh/100Km.
    The travel cost was 60% less when compared to Diesel.

      Hi Karthik - This is very useful information. Do you have similar data for Chennai to Munnar. I am planning to visit Munnar via Dindiugul. Munnar is 160 Km from Dindigul and there is no charging point in between. I feel my ZS EV will not be able to cover this distance. Let me know if you have specific details for this route.

    • @doctorskarthik
      @doctorskarthik Před 5 měsíci +2

      Certainly, range anxiety is a genuine concern. However, if you have family members susceptible to motion sickness, the ride quality of an electric vehicle (EV) is remarkably superior, effectively mitigating motion sickness.
      My spouse shared that she can comfortably open her eyes and appreciate the scenic beauty of winding mountain roads only in an EV. In contrast, when traveling in an internal combustion engine (ICE) vehicle, she invariably experiences motion sickness and keeps her eyes closed throughout the journey.

    Negatives of EV :1. Extra time take during any trip to charge. 2. Waiting time at EV charging (in future) 3. Amount spend for charging (in future when peoples start to buy EVs, definitely pvt players / Govt will hike the charging fare) 4. Performance of EV in long terms is a question mark. 5.Durability of battery over the years is also a question mark.

      1. With Cars like ZS EV, you can charge in every 250kms. So your wait time is your rest time/eating time in a restaurant. 2. With more EV buyers, more infra, hopefully. 3. Amount spending will still be much less as oil prices increase as well, and at a higher rate than electricity. 4+5 People have driven EV more than 100k, no issue. Battery is supposed to last much longer than people own a car.

    Charging duration of 30 minutes time after about 150 km, does not seem hurdle, but safe and good relaxation. Street talk is that if AC runs, then mileage rate will drop significantly. Also in this review , only one passenger cum driver trip is covered. In case of 5 occupants with luggage full in dick , and long night travels with continuous lighting beam, there may be mileage drop.. In my opinion in case of elemination of organic fuel driven vehicles, then charging points for EVs should be installed at least 10 to 15 times the number of present organic fuel supply points. In case of more vehicles simultaneously in ques, how the waiting time is uncertain. So a thorough review would be usefull to understand EV absolutely.

      Mileage drop would be there upto 25%. I haven't used EV cars, this is significant in ev bikes, but not significant when it comes to four wheeler. 70-80kmph will give decent coverage, beyond which there would be drop in range. Driving in peak summer days will result in dropped range. All these equates to ICE engines as well.. but nobody discuss this as there's plenty of fuel stations deployed.

  • @ashwinpmkachu
    @ashwinpmkachu Před rokem +7

    To begin with, I appreciate your efforts. Have been following your videos since years. Not a new visitor.
    Yindha maari, planned travels ku mattum than work aagum. Just what if the charge station that we planned to use is down or doesn't work or if there is a big queue?
    These kind of EV cars are only suitable for city drive and most importantly this would be very much appreciated by people who have more than one car and one of them is EV.
    More than EV cars becoming affordable, it's about having charging stations adequately. Only after we have 30 or 40% petrol/diesel bunks equivalent Charging stations, this would at-least be sensible to start using EVs for those who have one car for all City, outstation and every purpose that involve planned and unplanned trips.
    And not everyone/everytime would plan for multiple breaks. So this would force people and there is no other option. And also it's not like a small coffee break, this is going to take some significant amount of time.
    This EV tech would become very much feasible and sustainable only when battery swapping becomes possible. Like LPG gas cylinder that's returned upon emptying and just load a new one, similarly all cars in a country should have a consortium that caters battery to EV cars. So go to a battery station and return used battery and get a charged battery and just keep going.
    This way the waiting time is reduced to almost negligible ones. And its the vendor who is running this service would be taking care of the maintenance of the battery. But again, with this kind of approach, there would be more hazards as the battery is getting handled by various people.
    But for EVs to become trusted and reliable and practically feasible, there are two things needed. 1) Absolutely fast charging needed as people don't even wish to wait in long lines currently in petrol bunks. 2) Good number of Charging stations matching atleast 30-40% of the petrol bunk count.
    These days EB current bill is sky rocketing and charging at home is definitely going to add significant rise in monthly bills right? May be if you could clarify and explain people about the costs that a middle class family would incur when using EV cars (assuming charging done at home some times and sometimes at charging stations perhaps).

I came to know the struggle in charging, since most of the station in highway was overcrowded. Waste of time spending in restaurant and lounge for hours together. i don't recommend this scrap machine in India. It's better to buy CNG vehicle. Cost and fuel wise cheaper and mileage. My cousin owns CNG Baleno. Which gives 30 mileage in highway and costed only 10 lakhs. Interestingly CNG price drop to 74 rs in APG & Pratham station in Chennai. Service+ tyre -- ₹210000
    Total after 8 year's -₹2950000
    Even if you sell it for ₹800000
    Your total cost will ₹21.5 lakhs!!
    If I buy Nexon EV ₹1700000
    Fuel - ₹75000 to 89000 at Max for 8 years
    Service+ tyres - ₹110000
    After 8 years of using Nexon
    EV total cost approx ₹1899000
    Even if I can't sell my car ,I'll save ₹2.51 lakhs dude ,
    So isn't this is a good decision!!

      After 8 years will the battery of ev cars not degrade? And even if you plan to sell either people will not be ready to buy or you need to change the battery pack and sell or keep it with you and battery packs are seems to be very costly, unless there are any new upgrade or change in battery technology

      You should compare only the Venue or Brezza or even Nexon petrol with Nexon EV. Not Creta.
      In your comparison, for that extra 2 lakh, you get a bigger vehicle to drive without any range anxiety.

    EV is a good initiative sir. But now, the usage of ev vechicles are low. When it reaches half of the count of petrol/diesel vehicles, the wait time will be large. Next, afforably Tiago EV, Nexon EV are the competitors. Again, which consumes a lot of time because of 24 KW charging support. But the point is, even though ev is green, the way in which electricity is produced is not green. Indirectly, it is equally polluting like other source of fuel. And, if we go for a trip, planning for charging stations and waiting in the middle can mess up the plan alot. So, EV is can be used for local commute and short trips. It will tiring for driver to wait and ride for long trips.
    Just a thought Birla sir. Please answer if you have any solution for this.

    That's why the battery is charging fast till 80%.. You will need to charge till 100% to save the life cycle.. otherwise your battery will degrade much quicker due to life cycle issue

    My question is simple. There is only one charging station is there. What if two cars were already in line and another car is being charged. Each car will take 40 to 45 mins then after three cars you need to charge yours. You need to be there till your visit. So you need to wait for 2 hours and then another half an hour, so totally you need to wait for 2.30 hours minimum

Long story short - fought with watch men and also he tried reaching the owner to open for emergency situation. But he didn't response. We have reached here because zeon app showed it is available. Atleast they could have turned off.

    So EV charging routes are expensive, it's because the collaboration with vendors and other subjective may attract the people. EV has great potential in business, to avoid uncomfortable ride music is used to ease it , so obviously Spotify and Amazon music is required. The routes provided by these vendors has higher possibility in getting attention of EV owners to get into their business like advertising and promoting stuffs ,and considering Charing ports and time , it might take close to 5hours in the worst case it's its more than 500km journey. 5 hrs is for charging and waiting in a queues etc. Fuel cars outperform ev in these cases. EV two-wheeler is an different case. For an day-to-day basic, ev two-wheeler is an game changer.😊

  • @dronasystems
    @dronasystems Před rokem +1

    Don't think EV is advisable for inter city or interstate travel. Ideally the charging stations need to have at least 20 charging units. And all parking slots in restaurants need to have charging stations. If not you will have to wait for an eternity in queue.

The same if you do with petrol car , u have to spend around 8000 rupees , if youf has mileage around 20 km/litre. Otherwise it will be more than tat. So ur savings are around 5500rupees.
