- We're still in the mountains of Lake Tahoe... it's still dumping snow... and it's still kind of miserable living in the van. đ If it weren't for the great snowboarding and spending time with friends, we probably would have left already, but we're trying to make the most of it and hoping for a few sunny days sometime soon. âïž Enjoy!

At 65yrs old I have found that I now appreciate the little things more as days go by. Even the rain has it's moments of pleasure, and believe me, here in Washington State we get plenty of it. The 2, I mean the 3 of you are so blessed to have the freedoms and lifestyle that you have, and you share those blessing with all of us. I have learned, from watching Gus, to have fun wherever you are, regardless of the situation. I mean just watch dogs, they enjoy life to it's fullest, they will roll around in poop or the stinkiest dead thing they can find and revel in joy in what they just accomplished. Now I am not saying that either of you should roll around in smelly things, but get down on your hands and knees with Hazel and see the world as Hazel does. I do this with Gus all the time on the trail, in the house, at the park, and it gives me such a new perspective. Not to mention he loves it when I meet him on his level. For me, I remember the days when rain meant playing in puddles and floating stick down the street gutter or trying to catch snowflakes on my tongue. The bad days are so few and far between, they are there to help you reflect on all the good you have experienced. Well, I thoroughly enjoy all your content, even when Hazel does not make her appearances. Cheers!

Thanks for saying and showing such nice things about my home. You definitely need four wheel or all wheel drive to live here happily in the winter. My husbands says , âA little snow here is heaven on earth, 3 or more feet is hell frozen over.â But even in our 70s we donât want to live anywhere else. Love you vlog.
Sun is coming in another week! But frankly, all this snow and rain is AWESOME for California - even though, shoveling and snowblowing is getting tiresome.

This is the most I've ever related. The snow is beautiful....it is picturesque....it evokes emotions. But, it also sucks being permanently wet. Can't wait to see how you guys dry out. Safe travels, friends!

North Lake here checking in. That last comment to stop snowing is not ok. If you love the lake so much you have to know we need the water. Van life in Tahoe is a per season thing. Good starts to winter like this bring elongated joy to adventurers, but being safe is key when in the elements, and though I'm sure it's equipped with heat and other comforts, a 2wd vehicle up here is never ideal.
As people who have been living around Tahoe for the past 6 years, we fully understand how BADLY we need this precipitation. We're glad for it and trust me, we're stoked that we're having such a good winter season so far. Our comment at the end was us hoping for a little break in the storms to get our van situation figured outđ Thanks for stopping byđ

Hey guys. Long time watcher, first time commenter. Tahoe transplant 2011 to 2015. I'm a few years older. I think I've been where your heads are but I hope you snap out of it soon. It seems to me that the van is not working out, it's not the lake or the snow. I miss the Lake everyday and hope to be back some day. Stay up. I'll be watching. - Jim

These last few mins are the reality of van life. Itâs OK to live in one place. Our ancient ancestors evolved from nomadic to developmental for a reasonâŠItâs good to grow roots and be a part of a community/family.

Hey you guys! What do you think about snow tires, better than chains? We just moved to Europe and bought a VW Van 2x4, wondering how it will perform on the snow. Btw here in Spain, the riders are not used to 4WD trucks

Ps I felt the same while I was RVing for a few years... there's really nothing better than Tahoe overall.
Just got back from Lake Tahoe and boy was that week terrible. IF you come to tahoe during the winter, DO NOT BRING 2 WHEEL DRIVE, you need at least 4 wheel drive and snow chains. It was during a winter storm but still, watchout for towing scams too in case you get stuck.
Have you considered a baja trip? Beautiful this time of year. Eye candy everywhere. We did the drive from Phoenix to Cabo a couple years back in our Prius with two kids. You look like you could use a couple of weeks in a warm, sunny, friendly place.

@Cody and Victoria rock climbing in Guadalupe canyon, swimming with whale sharks and orcas somewhere between bahia de los angeles and la paz. Amazing scenery in Valle de los cirios.
Beaches like la balandra and santispac. Pure beauty and a great vibe down there!
Be sure to stop at Bertâs Cafe near the Y. You want to talk about the best chicken fried steak and biscuits and gravy in the worldâŠ. Thatâs your spot!!!

Overnight is really tough in town. Weâve been crashing in friends driveways. I think Safeway allows parking overnight. Lots of people stay at the snow park on Carson Pass
the dog in a van all day while you play and work. feed him chicken at 0.99 , top bottom roast 4.00 , cheap hamburg 4.00. never feed cooked bones. dogs never cook their prey.

No. I actually use a custom 709 lut but you could probably use the Sony 709 lut. Although I believe my slog luts wonât need to be converted
Have you thought about getting into cross county skiing? A lot less people on the trails vs on the chair lifts and much cheaper. Shuffling with skis is not skiing. Learning to properly cross country ski can take years to learn.

Hearing people complaining about too much snow because they live in a van might be the most California thing I've ever heard. Especially after the warm and terrible winters the last few seasons. I live and dream for seasons like this and hearing people complain just boggles my mind.

We lived in tahoe for years too until we got priced out and had to move down the hill. I know it sucks that someone else is having success on social media but I see you over on your channel making videos in Tahoe too and I'm sure you wouldn't be mad about 189k subscribers...
