Low testosterone and oestrogen levels can impact your cycling performance but more importantly both your physical and mental health. Experienced dietitian Steph Cronin explains what you should be looking out for to keep your levels high and what are the biggest factors that could decrease them.

One point of clarification - testosterone is the most abundant bioactive hormone in both men AND women. On average, men will have an order of magnitude more testosterone than women, but women still have more testosterone than they do estrogen.
Proof of this is how estrogen in Australia is measured in pmol and testosterone measured in nmol.
I thought I had low T but then saw a picture of a rim brake tarmac that was sub 6kg.
Pitched a tent no probs.
Yeah, rubbing your rims is a great way to stop your bike.

Thank you Steph RCA a informative factual video we all need to listen to .
Let´s behonest. Most of us now that is unhealty to be very lean as a result of an agressive diet, but the pressure of society ( Cyclingmates, peope at work etc. ) is high. And when you get greased up like " Hey you looking lean...wow!" ,then most of us give a fuck about hormones etc! Cos that feels so good !
You don´t have to be fast but lookin pro, counts more for a lot of us out there.I know this stupid af but that is how it is ....at least in my experience over the years.
Interesting about the women and their cycle, the team doctor in formy college swim team had the opposite opinion. She said "It's not uncommon for a female to lose of have an irregular cycle during training." Or does this mean that basically all NCAA swim teams train too hard? And this would happen even we when we were doing single practices, forget about doubles.
this title is relevant to my interests lol
Cut away to froome when Ryan talks about “cracked athletes” 🤣
4 time Tour de France winner gets no respect from rca 😂
OK. Here is a good one. I have low sex drive, I have an underactive thyroid controlled by thyroxine. My testosterone tested "normal".. do you beleive that during to the thyroid I should have testosterone replacement to I crease the levels from normal more to the higher range? What's your opinion?
Testosterone is obviously important for men and estrogen for women, but BOTH are important for ALL.
Don’t just test one of them, BOTH tell the story much more completely, no matter your gender
Eggs and milk before bed boys.
eggs yeh, milk I'm not sure.
@@MichaelWilliams-rc4dz high fat milk like pauls farmhouse organic mixed with eggs before bed and drunk has pretty much the exact micro nutrients your body needs to generate test at night in deep sleep. Try it and you will notice in the morning after a few days. Unless your lactose intolerant, then eggs and tallow probably is your best bet.
Cholesterol is key. It’s a precursor of testosterone.
@@Thezuule1 Nonsense. Your liver makes all the cholesterol anyone could possibly need.
why is that good ??
I used to drink soy milk for a few weeks, but it makes my sweat smell like cow over time. So gross, plus, I knew it unbalances your testosterone levels.
soy blocks estrogen which will raise testosterone in most. Look how fertile asia is and how much soy they use.
@@durianridersthere are very few asian countries at replacement fertility rate. T:E ratio of asians is typically < 1.
Exactly why the pejorative "soy boy" started.
So gross but drinking the pus in milk no problem?
