This Toy alone inspired generations for 40 years. Optimus Prime is the definition of a real hero and a fatherly figure. I was very happy when finally this prime got a another spotlight and a throwback to the original. Every time i look at this figure it reminds me of the phrase ''If your gonna be a hero Peter , Be a real hero. Be strong enough to be gentle ''.
As someone who got the original when I was a kid back in the '80s, this toy makes me so happy. This IS Optimus Prime. He existed before the cartoon. The blue-eyed cartoon version was basically the commercial misrepresenting the product it was trying to sell.
I also love how authentically '80s that chromed Matrix chamber looks even though the original didn't have it.
I have the original still as well. This this is awesome. Now all I need is reissue of the GI JOE tomcat, I broke mine and all these years later I still kick myself for doing that.
I remember back in those days trying as best as the figure could to recreate the poses. Oh, if this articulation existed back in the day.......

I had a lot of these. My favorite was........me and my grandma went to target way back in the day in LA. walking by the toys was omega-supreme😮omg. She said no and like a spoiled brat tears started streaming down my face lol but this was omega-supreme it was worth it because nobody I knew had it this was the toy of toys at the time and there was only one box. I got my a$$ whooped when we got home but totally worth it lol

If Tamara Tomy continues to make these I will continue to buy. This is what a premium toy should look like. All other companies should take note
3093exciter l agree. I really hope the missing link line makes a prowl Jazz hound bluestreak and definitely a Megatron with the gun mode. Release all the autobot cars. No more blaster and soundwave reissues.
This is the one I actually want. Cartoon accuracy is fine, I love it but if you are trying to emulate the actual toy you gotta go with the actual toy colors.
The nostalgia is off the charts but, for me, Earthrise Prime is the GOAT! I was 10 when Transformers arrived so the G1 figures flood me with good memories. But what's great about the more recent figures (War for Cybertron and the like) is they look and pose the way I imagined the G1 figures did when I was a kid. They were great but so static and rarely looked the way they did in the cartoon it required a lot of imagination. It was cartoon first, toys second for me, so the more they look like they did in the toon, the happier I am :)
Yeah I can't WAIT to see what they pull off for Studio Series.

Personally, as a guy that grew up with G1 toys I can say that diecast and chrome plating aren't all they're cracked up to be. I was always frustrated by chipped paint and rubbed off chrome as a kid. I'll always take color molded plastic and paint any day...that being said, I still have the toy colored figure on order because hell yes I do!
Diecast is also more expensive than plastic
I'm extremely happy with my C-01Missing Link Prime!! It was defiantly worth the wait!
I went with the toy version. I always loved the picture on the back of the box of G1 Optimus Prime.
I'd love to see more of the g1 toys get this treatment.

The fact tht this toy is been out for years and to this day still have fans from the younger generation buying it it’s just crazy to me
Very nice review, 100%. I've always enjoyed the positive energy and posing in these reviews. Esp when you are not in the G1 era but still able to appreciate the redesign of the product. Keep them rolling!

Amazing how much knowing about the Diaclone figures answers so many childhood questions 46 years later. Like the flying thing on ultra magnus's chest and iron hide not having a head etc. I didn't learn about any of this until last year !?😂

Speaking of without the trailer one, it would be the most expensive and best desk toy where you literally cannot stop fiddle with it. Personally, the trailer doesn't do anything to me but raised the price and would eat alot of space. Nice review btw!
Pretty nice how this version has even more G1 accessories and I love how the OG G1 figure has more articulation with this release at least to my knowledge

Die cast isn’t coming back in this economy because it would add to the price that everyone is already complaining about. At $25 a deluxe this line isn’t affordable to a lot of parents right now.
Next thing you know we get g1 remakes for every g1 toy and even power master optimus prime
Everyone always thinks it a fuel/gas rod/pump. It's not. Its a welding gun/torch. Remember the trailer transforms into a repair bay.

The graphics on the trailer are not tampos. They really seem like they are, but they are in fact stickers. Mine were on slightly off center, and I managed to slightly peel one of the corners. You can feel the screw holes behind the stripes on the outside too. I applied the stickers from the sheet to the trailer, and they too also come off looking like tampos

Once reviews started coming out, I cancelled the toon accurate version as the toy look looks way better. I then pre-ordered a second toy version.

The missing spring-loaded launching pad gimmick is actually a plus for me. That thing always kept my roller popping out of the trailer.

I'm actually going with C-02. I love the toon colors. I have like 4 OG 1984 Takara "T" Optimus Primes in great shape already. With C-02 I have an original 1984 Takara "T" trailer that I picked up from eBay to pair with it. Old paired with new.

What would be sick for a shelf is if you make the old and new optimus prime shaking hands and on the half with the missing link all the g1 stuff and the earthrise with the newer transformers.

Still, anyone know where the detachable trailer tower comes from? Because I don't remember it from the G1 cartoon.
I love that this has tampographed areasthat even the new Master piece toy coloured version uses stickers for . Like the forearms and knees and what not i hate using stickers that need millimeter perfection or they look awful specially when they only give you one set
now, the original Convoy model was great for the time, and imagination was still 99% of the whole play time...
It absolutely would have blown all our minds if the toy had all that articulation
Vintage Optimus Prime
The talk about die-cast being integrated because of perceived quality is pretty mistaken. The original toys used die-cast in their production because, at the time, die-cast came out cheaper than plastic! All of this because of the big oil crisis of the 1970's, and not because Takara/Hasbro wanted to produce a higher-quality product.
They did what they do today, they went with the cheapest option available, in order to maximize profits. The thing companies almost always do.
