Romanized Russian lyrics:
Za Seregu iz Rjazani,
Za Koljana iz Permi,
Nasha pamjat', nashi rany...
Slysh', bratok, na grud' primi.
Pod pyzhuhoju - tel'njazhka,
Pod tel'njazhechkoj - zheton.
My po krugu p'em iz fljazhki
Za desantnyj batal'on
Jeh-ma, rukava povyshe,
Da pojasa potuzhe,
My vyderzhim s toboj, bratok,
Byvalo huzhe
Uletim my pticej v nebo,
Vysoko, azh von kuda!
Razlichim tam byl' i nebyl',
A pogoda - ne beda.
Prygnem v gory, prygnem v more,
Esli nado - hot' kuda
My protivniku na gore,
A pogoda - ne beda.
Za Seregu iz Afgana,
Za Koljana iz Chechni,
Nasha pamjat', nashi rany.
Slysh', bratok, eshhe plesni.
Pod pyzhuhoju - tel'njazhka,
Pod tel'njazhechkoj - zheton.
Zapevaj, bratishka, nashu:
Pro desantnyj batal'on.

VDV - Playful decoding of the acronym: Uncle Vasya's Troops.
Vasily Filippovich Margelov (December 14 [27], 1908, Yekaterinoslav - March 4, 1990, Moscow) was a Soviet military commander, commander of Airborne Troops in 1954-1959 and 1961-1979, Army General (1967), Hero of the Soviet Union (1944), laureate of the USSR State Prize (1975), Candidate of Military Sciences (1968).
In 1921 he graduated from the parish school. As a teenager, he worked as a loader, carpenter. In the same year, he entered a leather workshop as an apprentice, and soon became an assistant master. In 1923, he entered the local "Bread Product" as a laborer. There is information that he graduated from the school of rural youth, and worked as a mail forwarder on the Kostyukovichi - Khotimsk line
Since 1924, he worked in Yekaterinoslav at the Kalinin mine as a laborer, then as a horse driver (a driver of horses carrying trolleys).
In 1925, he was sent back to the Belarusian SSR, as a forester in a forestry enterprise. He worked in Kostyukovichi, in 1927 he became chairman of the working committee of the forestry enterprise, was elected to the local council.
In 1928 he was drafted into the Red Army. He was sent to study at the United Belarusian Military School in Minsk, enrolled in a group of snipers. From the II-th course - foreman of a machine gun company.Communist, Member of the CPSU (b) since 1929. In April 1931, he graduated with honors from the United Belarusian Military School...

“Горе” -- in this case means “Trouble”, "Misfortune". It means “We are trouble for the enemy,” or “We are misfortune for the enemy”.
"Mountains" have nothing to do with it.))
ГО́РЕ - trouble/misfortune but if we change the stress from О to Е then it's about mountain (Гора́) and on the mountain would be "на ГОРÉ" . no wonder he fucked up here
@Dr Disconect "Горы" и "Горе" -- these are two different words.
They may also have a similar root. In other slavic languages, like Croatian "gora" means mountain aswell, but there are other words for that which sound nothing alike. "Gore" means worse, or "above/up." Which may give a hint as to why they sound so similar. Same train of thought as an "uphill battle" in English.

True, Cossack style music holds a special place in my heart

В подтверждения этому приведу Вам пример - Alexey Retard выше написал (Залихватский казацкий стиль) я сам с Дона и Кубань рядом а эта колыбель казачества и здесь не говорят казацкий, здесь говорят казачий.. слово казацкий употребляют именно Русские а сами Казаки с Дона так никогда не говорили, нет такого слова в казачьем говоре юга России.. "горЕ". Фродо идёт к горЕ. From word "гора" - mountain
The meaning depends on the stress on the syllable

doesn't 'Gora' mean mountain in Slavic languages?
@@hamzak2181 "Gore" means "Mountain" and "grief\sorrow\trouble". Depending on the context and pronunciation. For example, "The enemy is sitting on the (Gore)mountain" and "In our family, (Gore)grief, grandfather died". The Russian language is very rich and difficult to translate. One comma can completely change the meaning of a sentence.
For example
"Помиловать, нельзя казнить." (Pardon, you can't execute!)
"Помиловать нельзя, казнить." (It is impossible to pardon, execute!

I would love to see Lyubehs song about Alaska, still to this day i dont know what they are really singing about in it
My interpretation goes like this: It was written couple months after the downfall of the Soviet Union . Probably the euphoria of newgained freedom was already over and the reality of living in a country that lost a (Cold) war kicked in. So the way to deal with such emotions (embarrassment, sorrows, uncertainty) was to "demand" Alaska back. It is only a sarcasm when you realise, that living in an anarchy and sudden poverty, demands like that were the last thing a regular man would be interested about.
Lyricss be like Alaska and Siberia are two cost of one river, they share this and that, give us Alaska back :)
Damn! First I was like yeah it's recruiting song, not that much from the depth of the human soul, but it grew on me. It is pretty catchy.

Thank you for the video and the lyrics. I have some suggestions for English translation.
Zheton - should be translated as a dogtag. You don't put a badge under your t-shirt.
I think most of the commentators covered that VDV is not a Mountain to their enemies but a nightmare/disaster.
I also think that "...take it on your chest" is wrong. I believe it's a figurative expression. "take it to your heart/soul" or even better "embrace it".
Word for uniform is hard to translate with correct connotation. It's slang for a specific half-woolen field uniform of VDV. Pолушерстянной (ПШ)/(P Sh) means half-woolen. Abbreviations "P" and "Sh" led to the slang пэжухой. So, it's not just a uniform, but a special VDV uniform.
you're right 100% Zheton should be a dogtag
