My father too was arrested during the emergency, he was the founder presidentof jan sangh ,in assam ,he waa paroled only aftrr 9 months,i was a chil d of 14 years ,my father being the only bread earner , we faced many problems financialy , thanks to some uncles ,friendsn relatives we survived, but i will never forget those dark days

A fourth year mechanical engineering student was kidnapped from his own hostel during this time, and no one knew until much later what happened to him! In his memory we started our cultural fest- ragam.(His name was Rajan)

Interesting video. What you haven't mentioned is that the Maharani was imprisoned in special quarters in the jail, with a courtyard and had good properly cooked food delivered to her 3 times a day. She was the people's favourite and Indira Gandhi didn't want to face yet another backlash by making sure the Maharani lived in squalor. I think there were 2 other queens also imprisoned. There were rumours circulating that the queens plotted and planned Indira Gandhi's assassination. But that's never been proven. And nobody really knew what happened to the so called "hidden treasures" that the Maharani possessed.
