You guys raised a really resilient child. To put in so much work into one single company, getting laid off overnight, and then quickly moving on with a new plan... and based on the way you're commenting on other Tesla layoffs, it really does show that you two were parenting well. Props.

Maybe you should have taught your son how to be more financially responsible with the money he makes and not buy and expensive car before actually owning a home. The fact that you son is willing to sleep in his car before trying to sell his house speaks volumes about his poor decision making skills. It's pathetic that you come on all these videos and mention your son. People sleeping in their cars speaks to the cost of living in California and about the extreme traffic that commuters have to deal with. I also worked at Tesla and slept in my car at times instead of commuting 3 hours to Modesto each day. This is not uncommon. But unlike your son I invested my money into Tesla stock and now don't have to work.

@@ramonhurt69Do you really think anybody believes your made up story about living off your Tesla stock. You obviously have no job, a crappy job or a job you’re miserable at. You’re unhappy with your life and unlike these laid off workers who will persevere, you have to post nasty comments about others just to make yourself feel significant. As you mature and develop into adulthood, you will realize, writing inane comments on CZcams is for children seeking attention and serves no purpose.

If you’re working at a company that has recently had layoffs, get your resume ready and start applying for jobs because chances are you could be next! Don’t ever think you’re safe. If you have a backup plan, fine. Do what you please. If you don’t, you will be in trouble. In a down economy, it could take you months to find a job and you will burn through savings quickly!

This isn't "decades ago." People apply for hundreds of jobs, mainly by websites and forms, many requiring psychological testing. A lot of the jobs posted are ghost jobs-jobs posted to make the company look prosperous and that they are expanding, when in fact, the job doesn't exist. People can go through rounds of interviews only to be ghosted by HR. It's a different world. Jobs want 3-5 years experience for an "entry" level job. That's a way of paying mid level people low wages. It's BS.

It's like getting the wind knocked out of you. Absolutely take some time off to recharge and reflect (Go on Vacation, go on an adventure somewhere you haven't been :)). You've been a dedicated employee, and you have some financial security to allow yourself a break. Don't look for an opportunity to jump on it so quick. I was laid off from SpaceX with 4 other people. It was my dream job. From the time I was asked to go see my senior manager, to the time I was escorted by security off of Kennedy Space Center was less than 10 minutes. My supervisor did not even know until I texted him. You are a number and you may work in an "at will" state like Florida, which I did. This is explained to you when you are hired. I was shocked and upset but ended up getting a much higher paying job afterward. Having that company on your resume is a good thing. I will never tell someone to not work at SpaceX, but I will tell them that there is no guarantee you won't get laid off or fired. Apple, Google, and other similar companies all do this. The thing is to not wrap your whole life around the job. It's just a job. Don't get caught in the cult of personality. The billionaire doesn't care about you. That said, car manufacturers and the public were sold the EV Holyland, yet the United States Petroleum Reserve was simultaneously drained to 40 year lows to keep gasoline prices low. I'd say a good part of the EV chaos right now (which shows a few places, not just Tesla) is due to this.

In those days, Elon was an altruistic genius and we were told that all transportation would be electric before 2030, Tesla would have a seemingly infinite market as legacy companies went out of business and the stock price would rise into the stratosphere. Now, Elon is an internet troll and the stock has been stagnant for three years. The new mantra is robotaxis and robots. Again, we are told the stock will go to the moon. I think Teslas are the best engineered affordable electric cars but Musk is a jerk. I am waiting to trade my 2018 Model 3 for the updated Model Y in 2025.
