Well being a human right's lawyer doesn't mean he's a champion for human rights, there's an equal possibility that his expertise are being used to defend human right's violations... they are after all governed by the same laws. Given the shady history of the world, i suppose the 2nd option is way more lucrative. It however doesn't mean he might take up causes which defend human right's, but he can, just like everyone else, chose which causes he represents.
Considering his current position in politics, I simply believe that he threw away all sense of morality, honesty and self-respect somewhere along the way. I don't say that all politicians are scum, but those characteristics are more or less a given to have a career in modern politics... especially within a political party, since these people are the only ones willing to brown-nose enough to make it to the top.

"The right to self-defense can be invoked when a state is threatened by another state which is not the case, Israel does not claim that is has been threatened by another state. It’s been threatened by an armed group. Qualify it the way you want, but it’s an armed group within the occupied territory. And frankly, even saying „the war between Gaza and Israel“ is wrong because Gaza is not a standalone entity. It’s part of the occupied territory. But so, in particular, Israel cannot claim the right of self-defense against a threat that emanate from the territory it occupies from a territory that is kept under belligerent occupation." - Francesca Albanese --- She is cleraly a better lawyer.

His reaction speaks of something very dark within him, ie. extreme prejudice that should truly be a case of "never again" - never again should ANY group of people on whatever grounds (ethnic, religious, etc, etc) be considered as less important than any other. This dreadful hypocrite could soon be the next UK PM.... with such double standards, that is frightening. Let's truly hope that South Africa's admirable refusal to cower at the feet of "special Israel" really does mark a shift away from the false morality and downright racism of prejudiced regimes like those of the UK and the US.
