The return of the legend
0:11 this shot of Wellington riding along the british lines looks like a genuine painting from the 19th century, simply amazing. You actually feel like you are there, seeing the redcoats preparing for battle. Waterloo is one of the few movies that doesn't feel like a movie, it feels like you were transported back to the past. Historical movies nowdays don't understand that. Not saying that they are bad (as criminal the historical inaccuracies can be, the Ridley Scott movie looks good), but this element of immersion is lacking today. Historical movies feel like regular movies, when they actually should be the closest thing to a time machine we can have.
