Saw the documentary 4 times and I was in awe each time. Excellent watch in recent times and like BR suggests, I wish they had covered more of Veerappan’s childhood and more on his family background.

One of the incidents that impacted me most from the series was Srinivas. I think from the questions and answers - it was the same for everyone. I fell in love with this documentary as soon as I watched it. I spent the next couple of days recommending to people and discussing it.. This interview was absolutely brilliant.. So insightful! I loved the firefly quote.. Every single thing in the documentary was measured.. Deliberate.. Am so glad BR asked about the lighting used for police vs people.. That kind of stood out for me when I watched it.. ❤ kudos to the team.. And kudos to BR and Selvamani Selvaraj for this amazing interview..

Being from Karnataka, episode 3 is really close to us.. such an amazingggg narration, goosebumps!!!
Also being from Karnataka, I was in school when Rajkumar was abducted, I saw the whole incident unfold before my eyes, school was shut for weeks. YET, I thought, the incident didn’t deserve an entire episode. I felt like it was pandering to a certain section of the audience which might question the screen time given to the incident. Episode 3 was a little dragged and boring.. that said, it showed how veerappan sent two states and it’s political parties into a tizzy.
Great to see BR doing interview for a documentary.. Wont hurt to see him review a few documentaries.. Seeing the number of docus netflix is releasing I hope it reaches the larger audience

Fab! Just fab!!! Most of my previous generation or mine have seen Veerappan or the law enforcement force portrayed either as a 100% villain or as a 100% hero in movies (case in point Captain Prabhakaran and Adharman), but it’s good see the the dichotomy of both sides brought to the fore with some objectivity. As always, Baddie was on point with his structured approach to the interview and more importantly his follow up questions when things weren’t as clear for the audience. Kudos!

Excellent work from Selvamani selvaraj and he should've shed more lights on the forest area because from our viewers standpoint we should how really like to know how the dense forest of veerappan would be like, and moreover its been a main character of this documentary which protected him for decades....

Also, for me - the worst part of it all, is that they cut his trademark moustache off before showing the body, for me that was the "maximum" revenge the police could do, for one man that - to put it in great english = "viralla vittu aatifying".

@@ungammoi Bidari Didn't torture people on his own right from Day one, you need to analyse the sequence of events here, it was veerappan who is the sole reason for all the attrocities, he poached elephants and smuggled sandalwood for his own benefit, and burnt alive the good samaritan forest officer , STF were pushed to the corner and they had no choice except to see people who help this criminal with suspicion and they had to take extreme measures, i am not justifying what STF/Bidari did, however you need to understand their perspective first, none of this nonsense would have happened if verapan stayed within his limits, instead he instigated war on Police officers and forest officers to satisfy his own ego on 2 states , he is ego maniac and hardcore criminal.
One of the best documentary India has produced, kudos to director and his team. It was exciting and moving. I remember only few details like the picture of veerappan and other members, dr.rajkumar's kidnapping. I was in elementary school but now seeing all the officers, journalists and everyone who made sacrifices was informative as to the time, energy and resources spent for one man. Excellent documentary.

Veerappa doesn't come come from poverty. He had 7 acres of cultivated land. He borne in forward caste with political support. Muthu Lakshmi also equal responcible in Veerappa cruel activities. Why people were behind Veerappa? The bad and illigal activities attract more people immediately.

When Phoolan Devi who was murderer, bandit and massacre got negotiated settled down for prison and became politician. Why they don't want to forgive veerappan? because of the dirty politics. After 1989 when he became fugitive, he never cut down any sandalwood or murder any elephant. but whoever from outside or corrupted forest office when they cut down trees or kill an wildlife. its fall on veerappan name. Should have asked the director does he believe the encounter of veerappan?.
I didnt like the Narrative he set at the end of the Series. It was Good documentary and had us exposed to lot of Photographs which were not in the Open to public. Lot of people close to Veerapan were interviewed well. But the balance between attrocities by Veerapan - STF - Politcians were not evenly balanced and narrative set at the end of the documentary towards Elite perspective rather than who made Veerapan what he was. It was a typical System vs Individual story.
Oh according to you who made verappan ? the Police ?? stop blabering without knowing the facts, verappan is a criminal to begin with, he poached thousand elephants and smuggled sandalwood for his personal benefit, he is not some robinhood, Police/stf had to make some drastic efforts to put a full stop, thats it.

Brilliant Brilliant Selvamani ❤Riveting Docu series 👏
Muthulakshmi was only 14 when she fell for a much older 39 year old veerappan.. who had a heroic entry into her life .. safe to say she was groomed into the role of an obedient loyal wife. Her world was Veerappan’s world .. she grew up in his world.. she didn’t know anything beyond that life, so her adoration towards veerappan is justified. As for veerappan, he was a criminal and he loved the image of an elusive Robin Hood. He loved the attention he got, a narcissistic personality, he didn’t care for the villagers, if anything, he needed them to cover for him & his crimes. He only had the villagers to depend on. The reason I say this is because, despite the torture the villagers endured in the hands of the police, veerappan never surrendered, what mattered to him was his selfish desires.
There is not even a single creature showcased in any matter except humans; which is about a guy who lived his life in the wild.

The documentary only maintains a pretense of being impartial. The actual extent of police brutality including murders, violent sexual crimes, torture killings as a sport is barely touched upon. Hope someone can make an actual documentary focussed on the lives destroyed by the stf pigs without having to pander to any big corporation or the state's version of events.

Tbh - I felt it was touched upon.. When muthulakshmi said it herself.. They discussed the 'workshop'.. But I personally wouldn't want to listen to more than that.. It was horrible enough to listen to it this once.. And think about it this way- for more of this to be exposed- we are going to have to get people who went through it talk about it- to live through hell once more.. I don't think it's fair.. Personally- what was said was enough and audience are mature enough to understand both side view points..

Just a name-drop doesn't suffice. These are voices that have been ignored and stifled. They deserve to and must be heard. Apart from Muthulakshmi's account and another officer briefly talking about it, the documentary seems to focus on every other thing but it. It just feels dismissive. A mainstream documentary touching on the atrocities would bring attention to the ongoing struggle of the survivors and could possibly make a difference.
We're not asking for a torture-porn angle. We're just saying that it doesn't feel right.

The documentary only got to the tip of the police brutality.
It was addressed and acknowledged. It was certainly not neglected. All sides were covered in this documentary. That said, this documentary is about Veerappan, no matter how you look at it.. he is the common denominator.
