Wow. I am in shock, in awe. It is like Evol or Sister. But 25 or more years later, and they are the same, but better. Masters. The Youth, getting better with time.
Let me introduce you (Feel the wind so) Since you saw my shadow self Living underneath you (Over here) She can't resist a tickle out I'm a girl scout Searching for the new stuff Did I mention that it melts away (All gone) She puts a sign out (I want a) Out of order (I want a building that stays) Makes you strongly disobey Guiding you away (I promised you) Chiding you away So quick to hide when I turn around She will rise just to embarass me She likes to dance when it's dark inside Just a flashlight there, for a guide Try to catch me if you can It's free and wild, watch where you stand Below the net, desire it grows and grows Like a strawberry not a rose Prickly patch don't you stand on me Squishin' down in the mud Aah! In your eye.
This is one of my favorite Sonic Youth songs, and I never realised until now that I actually wouldn't mind some more sexy moans (but like in a classy way?) from Kim at 5:41 a la Robert Plant.
If anyone noticed, they changed up Kim's riff to sound more dissonant. If you ask me, I don't like it, as it takes away that 60's/70's vibe away from the pre/post-Kim sections of the song and messes with the melody.
If it was even possible, I think Steve's drumming improved in the later years of the band. His playing style from this album on is just so inventive.

I have LOVED Sonic Youth since `82.
This performance just Frames Sonic Youth.
This... is Sonic Youth.
WHAT LOVERS LIST ON LANGUID STAIN....
Love the tone coming from Kim's les paul junior. So simple, raw and effective
On some real shit, their drummer is fuckin' AMAZING!
Red wine + Sonic Youth makes the exclusivity and preciousness of the 80s and 90s go out the window
Kim sounds amazing in this song. And the band is so damn tight. Such an incredible group.
This song is a masterpiece!
I love the drum beat and fills Steve puts out. Cool to see Lee on keys.
Great song from a brilliant album!
lee on the keyboard, thats pretty sick
Lost count how many times I've watched this.
Man I love this song, so much raw intensity
Kimmy grew into quite a soul .. wonderful progression...
Kids this is one of the bands NIRVANA was into ..& played together...ADVANT GUARD ...
I've probably listened to this over a hundred times in the last couple of weeks. I think my desire will soon be quenched.
Love the keyboard, fits their sound well
Seen them live and like this video shows they are one of those great bands that even though fantatsic on album they re freaking amazing live.

Let me introduce you
(Feel the wind so)
Since you saw my shadow self
Living underneath you
(Over here)
She can't resist a tickle out
I'm a girl scout
Searching for the new stuff
Did I mention that it melts away
(All gone)
She puts a sign out
(I want a)
Out of order
(I want a building that stays)
Makes you strongly disobey
Guiding you away
(I promised you)
Chiding you away
So quick to hide when I turn around
She will rise just to embarass me
She likes to dance when it's dark inside
Just a flashlight there, for a guide
Try to catch me if you can
It's free and wild, watch where you stand
Below the net, desire it grows and grows
Like a strawberry not a rose
Prickly patch don't you stand on me
Squishin' down in the mud
Aah!
In your eye.
She looks like someone else, here
It is Just me, or somebody else thinks that the name is a reference to Beatles and Rolling Stones?
Maybe. It's also possible that when Eric and his cat were tripping balls he realized strawberries were the devil and it became a song title.
This is one of my favorite Sonic Youth songs, and I never realised until now that I actually wouldn't mind some more sexy moans (but like in a classy way?) from Kim at 5:41 a la Robert Plant.
soooooo stereolab
5:19 lol
totally, they are better !

i like it! you can never have enough dissonance. when so few other people try to write with it, since it's hard to work with..
Dingid Forrester i really like the studio version better. but this live kills on its own. im mostly in love with those golden Thurston touches
keys? a strat? an extra guy? NO.
Is'nt this overdubbed or playbacked? Mix sounds like produced on studio
Believe or not, this is their stage sound. I was shocked by the the sound quality when I heard them live.
It's probably a soundboard recording
Weird to see respect from a highbrow audience at the end of all this hard, dissonant work. I guess you just walk off stage and say shucks.
