She even blew the whistle. Unreal. Love them.
I was always disappointed back in the day when they left the whistle out.

Kinda kicks off the jam, right?
It was part of the original fake intro, which reminds me of the Beatles' "Taxman." Also, the underwater-sounding vocals bring to mind two other Beatles songs, "Yellow Submarine" and "Octopus's Garden." Some of the lyrics, too, are Beatlesque somewhat: for example, the reggae song bit, is just as nonsensical as the lyrics in such other Beatles songs as "I Am the Walrus" ("Goo goo g'joob") and "Sun King" (the faux-Spanish/Italian lyrics).
@@ClassicTVMan1981X Thanks. Not noticed nor associated before but makes sense now. Cool. 🙂
@@corneliuscrewe677 What? They left that out sometimes? Thank god I didn't know that back then... That would indeed sink the full performance of this quite a bit.
Kim always looks so happy when she is performing. That smile is infectious. What a legend.
Pretty different than the Pixies on stage, who are fucking bored and boring. Which is quite surprising as they are excellent in studio.
Got to chat with Kim after the Pixies 89 Doolittle show at Norwich UEA. She had so much fun chatting with us while signing tickets etc. Frank, Joey & Dave just hid in their dressing room. Have always loved Kim for making the extra time & effort
jha dev Her smile is everything 😍😍😍😍😍
love that smile, still the same after all that time
@@andrewphippsphillips1455, that is so cool! It is always nice to hear about down to earth musicians who take time for people. I had a similar experience talking to two of the women from Stereolab years ago, they were kind as could be after the show and stayed to chat.
If the 90's were a bassline.
It would be
Song 2.
It's a bastard to play, not tricky in itself but the slides are painful and you can't hide if you miss a note.
@@NickHarman thats why Kelly os not allowed to play it again .-)

And tripping on weird acid
I am blown away...I came here curious, wondering how many shortcuts they would have to take to play this live. After listening to this album version for my entire life, I had to know how know what the live version sounded like. The song sounds like it's got such weird production and so many effects, I had low expectations. After watching this, I am not disappointed - I can't believe how accurate they play it live. It's incredible. This is gd incredible.
And they were reproducing a lot of it even in the early 90's!
czcams.com/video/lXqrdL8hqTs/video.html
Thats The Breeders m8
It depends on Josephine’s performance. She always looks anxious especially at the beginning of a song. Jim started at odd time signature and she has to sync her bassline with his drumming.
one of the coolest songs that came out of the 90's
Still a smoking hot song after all these decades, it sounds as fresh and great today as it did then. When this album came out I put it on Heavy rotation for months, it was a good time for a lot of bands and new music, and I'd enjoyed the Pixies in the 80's so this was a nice transition. The Deal sisters are the real deal!
“I’ll be your whatever you want.” I melt every time I hear that line. Brilliant one-of-a-kind song.
Still on my 90s playlist! Gen X forever!
My 90's playlist is called Canonball and it's just this song on repeat..
FOREVER!!
yeah man! we had the pick of a century of d3cades. real heart soul emotion and a multitude of subjects making it into the music

You people ruined the world.
The most legendary whistle solo in rock history

Donna Summer likes this comment...although hers was really disco.
I Fell asleep in 93, woke up in 2019. Wtf happened man..lol
shwerd up brother next thing I know Bill Clintons gonna die and then all my nineties nostalgia will go with him. Also the shadow masters will move on from their previous creditor and come for me which definitely means I gotta off myself since I don't nearly have the resource he had to fend off the shadow masters for as long as he has.
Life is what happens to you while you are busy making other plans...... JL
awwww....❤❤❤
😂 Dude!!!!! Exactly!
😁😀🤘
never gets old..ever
Impossible to dislike this song. Not humanly possible.
Not impossible. I hated this song then, and I can't stand it now. It's my standard reference for the most annoying songs of the 90's.
@Louisa I was having a conversation with a friend at work about some of the most annoying songs we know.
For the 80's, I had "Pass The Duchie," "Fascination," and "I Know What Boys Like."
For the 90's, this song was the first to come to mind.
@@neuideasThen, why are you here replying on a comment of your most hated song of the 90's? Just curious.
@@CharlesNotBronson I was browsing through the comments while showing a co-worker this terrible song. I saw someone state that it's impossible to dislike it, so I added my 2c.
@@neuideas LMAO! That's valid then. Have a good one bro!
One of my favorite songs ever! I blew out my parents 6’ tall Marten Logan solo II speakers while mowing the lawn to this song on repeat in the early 1990’s ..I love The Breeders!! Seen the Pixies, The Amps, but sadly enough never the Deal sisters together. Keep on rocking!! I love it!!!
I remember their humble beginnings playing at McGuffy’s in Dayton, Ohio. Those were good days.
Did they do any hair metal covers😂
Love it! This song was my alarm clock for years. I was never late.
haha very nice!
Run, Daniel! Runnnn!
You just solved my life problems
Did you shoot out like a cannonball?
F$&@ Yeah! Enough said
Just jumped from the original to this, then back, then back again, two beautiful women both then and now still with that glint in their eyes and as for the song .... timeless.
Wow they even got the whistle part in there :D
I always thought it was microphonic feedback
@@chimpsticks1 I think they had to improvise for this show
I think it was on the demo
Really normal for Breeders to play their songs properly! Gosh you guys haven't you ever seen them live? This is it and a whole heap more on sound. Canonball always has the whistle live. This is how they sound! And they were amazing in 2018 and well beyond this song. Nothing new going on here with sounds! Such a great band live!
I thought it was a modem
My sweet daughter rocks to this and so the legacy lives on!
This song is still bloody good and rocks after all these years! Really love the 90s sound and vibe to it.
Welcoming 2021 with good vibes!
This song is timeless.
25 years later... WOW !! Thank you!
Thundard Kim Deal doesn't get enough credit for being the Rock & Roll pioneer that she was. Her sound was so unique. She also took a ton of risk with her music. Pixies and Breeders ... that's an amazing accomplishment.
t was a minit ago
Hell yes!
Now 25... sorry
Kim's voice is so appealing, and Kelly's harmonies blend seamlessly. Iris is an unbelievable song as well ✌️❤️🎸
Kim sings like a pixie 😎
Don’t know why but Kelley seems finding hard to hit a high note. She usually sing much better
Still sounding awesome after all these years!!
I like how she uses her voice to make little riffs. It really gives the song depth.
Isn't that called singing?
I wish I was as cool as Kim Deal
Dandys, nice.
Freddy Labots Andy's dice
FUCKYEA DANDYSSSSSS
Every badass women is named Kim. Kim Deal, Kim from Scott Pilgrim, Kim Jong Un, Kim Gordon and so on
KIM KARDASHIAN! KIM JONG-IL! ;) two more to the list
Very good camera work. They show the right band members at the right time.
I was thinking the same thing.. camera work is immense!
@@damo220 bbc studios really know wtf they're doing to be fair.
The audio on these live performances is always top too, got some great engineers to rig up that many bands for one show and have them all coming through so well

Your reply made me watch it again.. I did spot a little mistake at 2:23 when the operator trips over the amp..
We can let him off though 🤣

A sorely underrated album of the 90's. I listened to this one just as much as any of the coveted top sellers at the time, and I still do. It covered a lot more sonic territory to keep it from droning on, and remains one of my favorites today.
I couldn't agree more. Last Splash is weirdly brilliant album and had a huge influence on how I personally perceive music (I was in my early teens when it came out).
No, it's rated.
@topgoon8160 Stylistically speaking, it had hints of surf, pop, wave, alt-rock, punk, grunge, and country. It's just like, my opinion, man. 🤷♂️
las splash its not underated, pod, their debut(and their best IMO) its underated
OMG those harmonies! I love Kim's voice
Don't forget Kelly!
Sound as great as ever. Such a clever song. I was 23 when this came out so the implication is I am older and SO ARE YOU
Bought "Last Splash" when it came out and i still revisit it often. Awesome to see them still doing this track and doing it well !
My parents didn't really have a lot of money, and I never asked them for anything outside of birthdays and Xmas, but I asked my dad if he could buy this for me on cassette tape and he agreed. I played that tape until it snapped. Incredible album.
I loved them in 1993 when I was 20, 30 years later I love them more💕💕💕
First time I heard this was in September 1993 Alternative MTV. Was getting ready for work and it blew me away!!great tune and great times!’
Badass! Still sounds like high school, thanks!
real legends!!! proud to be a 90s kids!!!
Back in the 1990s, a friend of mine lent me a video tape he had recorded of some TV show I wanted to watch. But VCRs being rather scarce at the time, there was some footage on the tape his brother had recorded of MTV, who was into alternative rock in a really big way.
What I am trying to say is there was a recording of this song on that tape, and it kind of enchanted me the very moment I discovered it.
And the part of me that got enchanted by that song is very happy right now to find out this song is just as good today.
Where were you that VCRs were somewhat scarce? Where I was, they were everywhere.
This drummer hit so hard. Remember seeing them at Lolapalooza and thinking I was seeing his kit bounce while he was playing.
He hung out with grohl a ton in the early 90s.
I love this song as much now as back when it came out. Total bad assery
love you Kim! wonderful to see them; still fabulous and they do loud so well!
Wow!! You were and are awesome ... Time just showed that! Congratulations.
2021...then found this..brings me back to the 90's
Awesome!! I saw them perform this live @ Lolla '94... I love you kim...
As did I. Was in Houston at the time. Still one of the greatest shows I've been to.
Beautiful bass line that one
Lovely rendition
Kim is just a treasure. Love how the audience was nice and quiet in the beginning so the music came through loud and clear.
Still get the chills from this song
A lot going on with the arrangement
No margin for error
Always admired that
C'mon who didn't just want to know them in the 90s....hell even today
Have loved this song for decades
Epic band! They still got it!!
A beautiful and original work of art.
It's cool to watch them do this song live! Sounded great! Kelley is a guitar GAWDESS!!🎸
seattwa agreed! I have always loved this arrangement and their skills in general. Great song from amazing band on an epic album
@@donswanson4855 Absolutely! There are no throw away songs on that album, they are all good. I personally own a copy.

Watching this makes me so happy. Those women are great.
may they never never never stop making the great music they make. one of the 90s greatest gifts to music
we drove from montreal to boston to see them last year and they still sound so fucking good, freakin legends!

Dang, doesn't it feel just like yesterday? Just look at them, aged well, might be got into their 50s now. They were so young back then, so grungy, but they keep kicking ass after all.
When I hear this it brings me back to some of the greatest years of my life.
It never occurred to me that Josephine played that riff on the E string. I've never seen them play this live, before. They are one of those bands that I just never got around to seeing back in the day.
czcams.com/video/fxvkI9MTQw4/video.html
She used to use the A I believe. Much lower sounding using that E, I like to play it on the A personally
This intro has been my Ringtone for about 6 years now.
Awesome they are so cool, in my day this came out and l only ever air guitared to this one worthy choon!! Ever.
Swoon for the Deal sisters.
Sounding as great as ever!! Love you Breeders!! ❤️❤️🎶🎶🎶
The Deal sisters and the Breeders as a whole are just the best.
None of us should never age. Especially these guys. Breaks my heart. Especially when I look in the mirror.
I hope you've aged better
None of us never age, so you got your wish.
I'll bet you're STILL BEAUTIFUL! 💪💪👍👍👍❤️😎I'm 57 and listening in Detroit MI. 😎👍💪
This song is so good, I've no words... fab!
Gosh! Thank you for this! Can't believe 1993 was 25 years ago.
I was just saying that to my wife about another song. A damn quarter century, back in '93, seemed like a sprawling time period. Now, it seems like a quick tomorrow.
In my head 93 was 10 years ago haha
EXACTLY.
Was just thinking the same thing. I was like oh wow this must have been like 2005 or so... what? 1993?? No wonder they seemed to be struggling yikes!
WTF I thought we was still in the 1990'z..
Duuuuuuuuude, this is awesome! Mid-90's freakin' ROCK! \m/
Spoke with them for 5 mins - beautiful souls and thanks for the music!
I remember "93 very well! I listened to 3 bands, Boltthrower, Carcass and the Breeders......
So much talent wrapped into Kim. I miss her playing with the Pixies...
gran ejecución, excelente recurso. GRANDES!!!!!!!!
Recall watching this on MTV in my late teens and of course loving it. This performance? Oh dear....
Brought tears in my eyes while banging my head on things around me. Im so happy!!!
Amazing to see the mileage that has been loaded up on those guitars. They're the same ones that were used to record the original record.
An amazing performance! .....and Kim’s voice... simply magical
it's just so dang sweet isn't it
Going out of your way to sound like the original track ....LOVE IT !!!
Omg this made my day! Such a beautiful classic😍
La escuche en el 94 y aun la sigo escuchando
They are So Cool, and Courageous! i luckily caught them last Year in LA!🙌🏼i seriously believe without Her Amazingly hypnotic Bass lines and Haunting Backing Vocals 👌🏽Pixies wouldn’t have been the Pixies🤷🏾♂️ 🧚♀️💛🙏🏽🕉🙋🏽♂️
Damn strong these two! Music has done them well, power to their future!
Wow. Imagine how amazing it must have been to have seen this live and be in the crowd there.
Great version of this classic :)
She is playing a Seagull S6 acoustic guitar, I had that same guitar but a lefty version, great guitars, Kim has good taste :-)
Seagull a top 5 acoustic. I have a burgundy entourage cW. Nice with its 24.75 scale.
Love this song and the Breeders.
I feel homesick for the 90's. I'd completely forgotten about this song.😢
If you find a way back let me know I'll pay you
I dunno what's cooler, seeing how they actually pulled off some of the crazy effects in this song, or that it's 25 YEARS LATER. A real koo-koo......
Wow I Love them
Still love this!! 💗💗💗
Classic song - love it.
When i was young back in the 90's dancing to that was always a highlight of a saturday night
Isso é ouro puro !!!! Performance sensacional desta música que , na época , me fez desviar a atenção das superbandas do Grunge e olhar com olhos apaixonados para a banda das irmãs Deal , que continuam quebrando tudo . This is Rock and Roll !!!!
I remembered my 15's, I cried now. Nice.
i’ve got goosebumps!!!
damn... every detail is right there... can we still return to this life? are we too far gone from this point?
Yeah. We are. There is no return, sadly
Ahhhh was 6 years old when this first came out awesome last yr we covered this w my band.. still bad ass of a track as ever
