You incorrectly state Malgus has never faced offensive telepathy, but in Onslaught he fought Gnost-Dural, seeing through his illusions.

All else aside, being in a constant state of fury so pure it transcends into zen-like tranquility is probably a pretty good defence against telepathic intrusion anyway.
@@rakshithanand8262 Such rage eventually becomes a new brand of normal, and it becomes particularly difficult for someone to get that adrenaline rush from fury and rage alone.
Note however, the hero of Tython is the canonical pathway. So that raid never took place.
@@elderliddle2733 However I still think that's true, Malgus is extremely strong willed an driven by bloodlust and insane amounts of rage, I honestly think like with any situation he can power through it.
I agree, yet double-check the date on this video. It might have been published before the Gnost-Dural boss-fight was released for SWTOR. Also, this "mini-marathon" was focusing on Darth Malgus' accomplishment at his recognized (consensus) peak; ca.the Cold War and 2nd Great Galactic War. Even a Sith cyborg would eventually have wear-and-tear after 6, 7 decades of war, defeats, capture, confinement and the gradually impacts of time on his organic tissues. By the time he met Gnost-Dural, he might have experienced a 5%, 10% drop.
Jensaarai, GreyJedi, Rico, Antoine, Reti, myself, Pre-2020 Evan, literally every versus maker: "Malgus' style is never confirmed in any source, but he looks like a Djem So practicioner."

I'd say he wasn't committed to any single lightsaber form, but primarily drew from Shii-Cho, Shien/Djem-So and Juyo with Soresu for defense, while chaining Force techniques into that Niman-style. He understood what worked in the battlefield against the Force users of his day and rejected the moves that didn't, basically a Star Wars version of Jeet Kun Do or Krav Maga.
Just Your Average Joe: The encyclopedia only listed forms that were optional or popular to Sith Warriors in the game, or in the time period. It's like saying during the Clone Wars Ataru and Niman were the most popular forms practiced by the Jedi, and assuming every master were specialists in one or the other.
There is an official dossier page on Darth Maglus in the Encyclopedia, yet if those lightsaber forms are listed they only mean he practiced them, his foundation-form or preferences was not listed there. Similar to somebody assuming since Anakin Skywalker's repertoire include Djem So, Shien, Ataru, Shii-Cho and Niman, he was a master of all of them; he's wasn't, and only practiced Niman as a minor supplement, favouring Ataru and Djem So ahead of all the others.
Darth Malgus can be reasonably certain to have practiced the forms listed in the Old Republic Encyclopedia, but no page actually labels one as his most preferred or most used form; kinda like Mace Windu and Yoda can be listed to master all 7 forms, but not include how the former preferred Vapaad and the latter preferred Ataru.
If Darth Malgus was hunting me I'd just save him the time and effort by ending it all myself cuz ain't no way in hell am I taking him on at any point in time 😂

Malgus would probably focus only on the lightwhip and just tank the shit out of all the non-lethal strands, which Lumiya would not think any sane being would do. Tanking any non-lethal damage to get in a lethal hit like he did against Zallow.
I agree, Malgus is a tank literally, he would just soak up all the punishment and probably manhandle Lumiya with telekinesis or Sith Lightning.

Personally I’m of the option that it took the Emperor’s Wrath, Darth Nox, Cipher 9, and the BH to defeat Malgus.
@@baz5042 I think BW confirmed it was the republic strike team that defeated malgus. So it would be the hero of tython, the bar sentaar of the jedi order, the leader of havoc squad and one of the best smugglers in the galaxy, not just the hero of tython. Just shows how powerful malgus was at his peak. He was one of the best villains of TOR and I am glad he is back.

After you finish the Malgus series, I have a few versus series suggestions:
1. Embo Vs Bossk
2. K'kruhk (Grandmaster )Vs Qui-Gon Jinn
3. Vader Vs Malgus
There is an older Malgus vs Vader, by Jensaarai1 I believe, they usually do force users but I think Embo, and your giving Qui Gon a lot of credit. I don't think he could beat clone wars K'kruhk, nothing against Qui Gon but his whole retooled Aturu into a strength based form just means K'kruhk could overpower Jinn, you know being a massive whipid and all. The force I think they'd be about equal at least they could just counter each other. So it would really come down the endurance and strength. I'll agree Jinn is likely more skilled as a duelist but his style just doesn't give him a way to beat K'kruhk.
@@darthmetum3324 Good point, I mainly want to see a versus using Embo against whoever Evan decides, K'kruhk is just such an awesome character I think it would be really cool to pit him against someone of similar caliber, Maybe Kam Solusar or Corran Horn. As for Malgus, I didnt know Jensaarai1 made one, Ill have to go check it out. Maybe we put Malgus against Lord Hoth, two very experienced battlefield commanders and lightsaber duelists.
To point 3.: Sidious stated that Malgus is even to times more powerful than him and Vader together, plus he is officially the strongest Sith Warrior, that’s why I believe that he defeats Vader easy 🔥💯

This was a very well-made video.
At first glance I thought that Lumiya would be the victor (Very unorthodox weapon, greater speed and flexibility, being able to contend with Luke Skywalker), but when you brought up their force abilities, and how she considered herself to be lacking in the telekinetic department, I could definitely picture Malgus rag-dolling her if things were not going well for him in the sabers department.
Otherwise, this long time versus series fan's glad to see more of your upcoming work.
Its why Corran Horn despite his mastery of Tutaminis and Lightsaber combag would lose a lot of the time due to his lacking telekinetic skills, all you would have to do his force grip him and he has no ability to retaliate as long as you don't use force lightning which he would just absorb.
Now this is an interesting matchup and more importantly an interesting clash of styles.
Hope you or the other Fanalysis council members consider these potential matchups:
Rahm Kota vs. Plo Koon or Lucien Draay
Shaak Ti vs. Mara Jade
Saba Sebatyne vs. Oppo Rancisis
Teneb Kel vs. Ferus Olin
Aurra Sing(Legends) vs. Ventress(TCW+DD)
Most of these look good except for the first one- I love Kota, he's one of my favourite parts of TFU, but he isn't really in the same league as Plo, a Council master with comparable experience and even greater skill in all areas. I'm sure he'd make a fight of it, but ultimately he'd go down 9 times out of 10.

RyanStellan 1775 He did a Darth Bane + Zahna matchup against either of them, but he didn't do Revan + Malak vs Anakin + Obi-Wan. At least I belive so (I just checked to be sure and didn't find it, but I might have just missed it)

A couple of suggestions:
Aryn Leneer (given the Malgus Marathon, it might fit) vs Shado Vao, both are exceptionally skilled and renowed Jedi of their times, despite being not along the most well known Jedi.
Wolf Sazen vs Lord Vindican (again fitting for Malgus), Vindican faired of against Darach, who just so happens to be a Zabrak master I see comparable to Sazen (and I'd just like to see an Sazen analysis).
I like the Legacy era.
@Emperor Vowrawn I am actually not sure how skilled Leneer is next to Shado. Whom I would rank purely as duelist above everyone except Krayt and possibly Cade. Tbf I don't know how powerful Aryn became post-Deceived, but by that novel, I don't think it'd be a stomp either way.
I'm gonna call it that one of the two next Malgus matchups is against Cade Skywalker

If a wookie and a human have equal mastery when it comes to enhancing their physical prowess with the force, wouldn't the wookie still be stronger? Since he has 10 times the strength to begin with and only increase it further with the force? I mean if both can enhance their physical strength by 1500%, their physical bodies would still matter. Or doesn't muscle matter when it comes to enhancing the body through the force? I always assumed muscle mattered since Bane instructs Zannah to use fast style instead of strong style because she is physically weak compared to him.

I agree; although the human may be faster and more flexible. The Wookie would have claws, teeth and I doubt there are more than 5 cognitive species which could break-through or impact their layers of fur (Trandosians, Barabell, Nogorri), so that would be a stomp-regardless; perhaps with or without the Force

Satele Shan was saved *twice* from being killed by Darth Malgus, and she was one of the most powerful Jedi...
and he beat her without problems, that's how powerful and skilled he is.
When i played TWTOR, i was very disappointed in the dungeon which forces you to kill Malgus instead of giving you the option to join him.

Still don't get why people feel a need to compare Return of the Jedi era Luke to Vader. It is like don't you people get Vader was toying with Luke? Because you know Vader and Palps were still working together to turn Luke to the Dark Side right? That isn't a fair comparison.
Because if we just take away the fact Vader is still working to turn Luke to the Dark Side and if we take away the inner struggles Vader was dealing with during his fight with Luke. If Vader came at Luke with intent to kill Return of the Jedi era Luke would have been slaughtered.

Tom Cross Luke was totally out classed due to the fact that Vader has stomped high level masters and is clearly just messing with Luke and when Luke over powers him he lets it happen because he wants to see what his son can do like a father taking a punch from like a 7 year old son to see how strong he is. Vader has dooku levels of makashi because of his STRENGTH so he could’ve easily dodged Luke and cut him in half the whole point of the fight is to show that Luke has pushed his father to the point where Vader can’t use the dark side because he loves his son. I’m sick of people who think their so right that they bombard comments like this I would be fine if this changed tomorrow to say Palpatine was boosting Luke but you wouldn’t be
Firstly you are overlooking the fact that Luke was also holding back, evidenced by the fact that he twice tried to not fight Vader. He even says "I will not fight you" while hiding from his father.

A. Luke is notorious for his humility which results in him downplaying his abilities considerably.
B. See my comment above this one. An in universe opinion can't override multiple out of universe statements like that. He is his equal.
Awesome just Awesome and a bonus that it the video is between two of my favorite Sith can't wait for the rest of the Malgus beat down Marathon.
So the only potential lore correction I have to make here is that we don't know how Malgus survived. Initially BioWare did want it to be that he was carbon frozen by the Eternal Empire, but they did away with that and had that end up being one of the rumors of how he survived along with that Empress Acina found him in the debris of the station and revived him via cybernetic reconstruction before placing him under the mental conditioning that we learn about in Onslaught.
The only other correction is that Acina is pronounced with a C-sound rather than a K-sound, so Ah-See-Nuh rather than Ah-Kee-Nuh. This was a spectacular video and I'm looking forward to the next two confrontations between our main man Malgus and whoever his next opponents will be.

Martial Arts: Even matched. Both experienced duelists and possess diverse fighting styles
Force Powers: Malgus (however slightly), both can fluidly incorporate telekinetic attacks and Force lightning, but Malgus’ Force maelstrom gives him another combative option
Overall: Malgus would most likely win, but not easily
Kyle Katarn still has his beard. So he wins by default

God always wins. There's a reason why He didn't show up in the Yuuzhan Vong war until it was already won.
Katarn also has the dark shear and sever force on his side. Plus he’s a battle master, he also has force lightning which Malgus wouldn’t initially expect and might get caught off guard but would defend against it. And he has that beard

On the note of Darth Vader violating the Rule of Two by training Lumiya, the very existence of the Inquisitorious made that a moot point. Sidious by this point didn't care about really preserving the Rule of Two so long as a Galen Marek didn't happen; instead concerned only with attaining his ascension to Godhood (like a good Tzeentch disciple).
Yeah, he got angry because Galen was a potential threat, eugenics powered Force Prodigy that he is. None of the Inquisitors ever even came close to that sort of power level, so they were fine. Same principle with Sidious and Maul/Dooku/Ventress- as long as whoever you are training is disposable, rule of two doesn't care.
I do find it interesting that Lumiya operates as almost exactly the combatant most optimized to overcome it. A pattern fighter who operates by picking apart the stylistic flaws in her foes, while at the same time being a maverick, with a radical style based of shock and awe.
A very good matchup indeed. It would be a very intense fight as well. It was quite entertaining I think! Very good!

It’s interesting. No powered Desann could defeat post Rotj Luke with ease and Kyle Katarn. I personally fell that the only reason Katarn beat Dessan was by doing what he did to Jerec and severing his connection to the valley while empowering himself. If dessan could contend with Kyle than he could be a challenge for Jannia

One critique I have for your analysis of Darth Malgus (bear in mind this is my own theory) is in regard to his tunnel vision. Yes, he has suffered from it on more than one occasion, but consider this:
Immediately after being defeated by Satele Shan, Malgus engaged a pair of Jedi and bested them. Then sometime later, during the sacking of Coruscant, Malgus engaged multiple adversaries at the same time. None of them were able to take him by surprise. What this tells me is that Darth Malgus Overcame His Tunnel Vision... at least to a certain degree. Could someone still exploit the environment against him? Perhaps. But I seriously doubt it will be as easy as many have suggested.

if malgus fought kenobi at the jedi temple then one would assume yes obi could exploit a environmental advantage.
@@lukegreensaber7362 Someone actually did an analysis of that a while ago. I think it might have been Antoine. He said Malgus wins and I more or less agree. I think it would be similar to Anakin vs Obi-Wan in R.O.S. at first. However, Malgus would have more battle experience than Anakin and thus wouldn't make the same mistakes. He also makes greater use of his force abilities than Anakin and is a better unarmed fighter. I think Obi-wan will put up a valiant effort but will ultimately get overwhelmed. Only the best Force wielders can ragdoll Kenobi: guys like Sidious and Dooku. Malgus definitely fits in that category.

Huh what a thrilling conclusion! This was one of the few times I was actually concerned for malgus sake and even sort of favored his opponent but i was surprised hoe much of a march they were for one another despite their different applications of attack. I agree with the conclusion all and all but my respect for the dark lady has only grown.

Some possible battles for Darth Malgus:
Darth Vader: Jensaarai1 did a great analysis of Vader versus Malgus years ago, but there were some important factors left out that could change the verdict. First, there is my own personal theory that Malgus overcame his tunnel vision, given how it hasn't been used against him since his loss to Satele (correct me if I'm wrong). And most importantly, he did not mention Malgus' Force Malestrom which Vader doesn't have a counter to and it would have defended him against Vader's telekinetic attacks.
Darth Bane: Though Bane is generally held in higher regard, I think Malgus would defeat him due to the fact that Malgus is a seasoned warrior with multiple Jedi kills to his name while Bane had had only a handful of serious duels. That being said, those duels were against high caliber force wielders, so this could be interesting.
Anakin Skywalker: Anakin may have better lightsaber technique, but I think Malgus would win due to his greater experience and use of Force abilities during combat, but it would still be fun to analyze
Kyle Katarn: Do I really need to explain why this would be an interesting fight?
Shaak Ti or Plo Koon: Blade to blade, I could see it going either way with either combatant, but I'm not sure how well either of them could handle Malgus' force abilities

Good match up , thx for the vid , but i think that the heavy armor Malgus wears would play a larger role in the martial part of the combat , small metal chains and pieces of leather would almost be a joke against that type of armor imho , and if Malgus decided to just grab that stuff directly ( which given the heavy armor around his forearms he could do ) , then Lumiya would be kind of screwed and her weapon would turn into her demise. Luke and Mara and the rest , had problems against her weapon because , they had to avoid the phisical part of the weapon on top of the enrgy part , with Malgus , just 1 good grab and its instadeath for her i think.

Assuming that the Ilum arcs of every playable character in SWTOR is happening at the same time then Malgus was fighting all of those characters and depending on your play style their crews of companions as well.
Malgus wasn't freed from carbonite on Ossus. He was active again long before that, as Darth Acina had resurrected and kept him as a secret weapon long before that after the battle of Ilum. He's actually credited with having been the one who helped Acina take the throne.

An interesting match up for Malgus would be against Galen Marek considering how similar Vader and Malgus are. With Malgus being more agile and not as weak against force lightning as Vader could Malgus stand a chance against Marek
How powerful are Old Republic Force Users compared to New Republic Force Users in power in the Expanded Universe?
If one goes into stasis like Malgus or Revan you stay the same age you were when you went into stasis but your power in the force can grow.
If a Jedi/sith survives 2 or 3 fights with lumiya her lightwhip style becomes useless.
Luke hears she back and says "I guess I need to get my shoto." This proves 2 things about lumiya's style. First if you live though the encounter she's not likely to get the edge twice. Second Jar-kai style fighting used properly can counter and even beat her IF you've fought her before. I would also note lumiya had her cybernetic butt handed to her the last three duels and Luke just let her go for reasons (he's the Jedi grandmaster he not just gonna straight up nuke her).
I'd like to hear your thoughts on the kakashi vs Obi wan death battle. even if you don't know anything about naruto. I'd like to know if death battle got Obi wans feats and facts correct.
Hey Evannova, I don't know if you've done this yet, but could you do a vs fight with Anakin Skywalker, like, Pre-Vader Anakin Skywalker? I've seen the other members of the Council do one Anakin fight, but I've never seen you do one. I'm not counting collabs for that matter, but it would be interesting to see you do one that isn't a collab. The hard part is finding him an opponent that would be interesting for him to face.
