- Maybe a simple home movie from a forgotten time. Or maybe there is a lot more going on here. What is the underlying story here? I don't know these people. The film was found at an estate sale. The film can was labeled "Home Movies - Not Mine."
So simple yet totally provocative ! Very Mad Men ish. Reminds me of the great color Hollywood movies of the 40’s-50’s. Subtle sexiness.
This footage is probably around March/April 1958.

That Caddy is newer than 1952
my gut is that the first part of the movie is taken inside a cabin..not much in the cupboards..magazines carefully arranged on the table...seems to be an instruction card attached to the phone...minimum decorations...she is not married no ring..
I think the first part of the film is people trying to imitate Hollywood.. over-acting..at 2:47 we seem to jump to Christmas different house look closely at the door first part door does not have a metal frame..this part seems to show off a new car after a Christmas party...the first driver i believe is not the owner of the car..he is very careful (owner behind the camera)..when he gets out does not look very happy. (jealous?).second driver i think is the owner..handles the car well and seems happy...

This is fascinating. I think there is so much more to this film, story wise than is recorded; but, as befits the time in which it was originally made, most of the story is left ti the imagination.

There is lots of mystery in this clip. Different men drive the same car according to the license plate. The first one with dark hair is somber and dutiful in his actions as he gets everyone in the car. The second driver is lighter haired and exuberant personality. So how is each guy related to the dark haired woman at the beginning of the movie. Also what is the relationship with the other blonde woman, who appears to live in the same house. An interesting short to ponder for sure.
Not 1952, it is '57 at the earliest. Note the style of telephone, narrow necktie . . .and of course the '57 Cadillac Coupe . . .

I love these old snippets of history. We have no idea who these people are but I sure would like to know what became of them. What kind of life did they end up with and if they found God in their travels. I pray that they are walking with the Lord.

Hi there yes l remember the 1950s-1960sit was a great time l was only a child and a teenager in 1961 but l remember christmas and the great dances slim whitman songs and our first television in the 1950s the women then were very well dressed the 1950s were great as l remember great times where everyone cared for each other more than today and the looked great

Id say '57 based on the Sedan DeVille I believe the '58 had 4 headlights. Those love birds were cute tho. and love their family, every one got into the movie! :)

This isn't the early 50's, it's the 60's, the decor, dress she has on, even the telephone look 60's or very late 50's.

The simple black dress would not look dated today. The decorating reminds me of the contemporary style common in my boyhood, and does not look badly dated. What has changed is the smoking, the men in suits, the cars, and the white sidewalls on the tires. Nowadays, men no longer seem eager to please women.

A very peculiar home movie.
Unfortunately the rear license plate of the 1957 Cadillac is never clearly visible. These California license plates were first issued in 1956 and were used through 1962. From 1957 through '62, the back plate had a different registration sticker for each year, and each of these were a different color. A good clear view would've disclosed the year this was shot.

This has been a a recurring comment since I posted the video. I was guessing on the date when I posted the film clip. I obviously don't know much about classic cars.

I don't think this is 1952, the telephone is a color 500 model, I believe they didn't come out till 1954, if this was 1952 the telephone would of been a 302 model.

FAKE!!! The first green (styrene plastic) telephone wasn't manufactured until 1959! In 1951, all telephones were Bakelite (Synthane) for electrical shock safety, and made fine homicide weapons, and black, dull red or off-white in color, all over the World. The dress is from the early 1960's in styling. I'm a professional photographer and have been doing it for 57 years. I also am a clothing "style" aficionado and can tell an 1889 dress and hat from a 1900 dress and hat or what year a suit or dress shirt was made from almost ANY culture and country. The "fatal flaw" in most "historical movies" is speech patterns and costuming. The last "Titanic" movie was so poor on costumes, anyone that has printed old negatives knew the clothing styles were from the late 1930's!!! "Gone With the Wind" costumes, hair styles and language were all from the 1880 and 1900's, not the 1860's!
Not FAKE, I just got the year wrong. There was no date on the can, so it was a wild guess on my part. Many people have commented that the vehicle is a 1957 - so it could easily be early 1960's (or thereabouts). But thanks for the info.
