What I love about this kind of event, is that one does not need alcohol to have fun and be happy. You are having fun while sober and sane. I could feel the vibes watching from middle east.

31st. Aug. 1957 is the independence of the geographical peninsula Malaysia (the federation of Malaya). Malaysia Day - 16th. Sept. 1963 - is when the then four nations (federation of Malaya+Sabah+Sarawak+Singapore) came together to form the federation of Malaysia. Singapore left and became independent in 1965.

Brunei in fact was a big empire and was ruled Sarawak, North Borneo (Sabah) and Southern part of Philippines. During referendum, Brunei people rejected to join Malaysia, however, Malaysia and Brunei have very close relationship due to similar cultures , language (Malay) and religion (Islam) and ruled by Sultan.
Really crowded n packed in the train but everybody keep smiling, enjoyed n singing.. they r still having fun n no emotional huh😆

Usually you see KL on a normal day with a lot of Chinese and Indian people, but when it's Independence Day or Malaysia Day, Malays will surely fill the city of KL.

Proud to seeing youngsters gather to celebrate Malaysia Day and enjoying local traditional games, food, cultural shows. Malaysia is our home.

No, 916 is NOT 'Independence Day for Borneo'. Only a part of Borneo belongs in Malaysia.
Sarawak's Independence Day is on 22nd July, 1963.
Sabah's Independence Day is on 31st August, 1963. Same day as Malaya but different year.
16th September, 1963 is the date when Malaya, Sabah, Sarawak, and Singapore, these four independent countries formed the federation of Malaysia together. (Singapore later left in 1965)
Malaya independence day 31/8/1957
Sarawak self governance 22/7/1963
North Borneo self governance 31/8/1963
Sabah/Sarawak independence 16/9/1963
Malaysia day 16/9/1963 according to agreement
However federal of Malaysia independence day to follow Malaya due to laws & constitution based on federal of Malaya, usage of ringgit as currency, etc.
