HIKING IN BOSNIA AND HERZEGOVINA - The heart of the Balkans

From our memories and the media, we mostly think of Bosnia and Herzegovina as a country at war, of Sarajevo as a city under siege... Believe us today this country has multiple facets to show and a lot to offer.
We discovered warm and generous people everwhere we've been, gorgeous and mighty mountains from Blidinje to Bjelašnica, without forgetting Prenj, "the Bosnian Himalayas"... Lukomir, the highest village of the country was a fantastic experience. Hiking this part of the Via Dinarica in winter wasn't easy, it was a real challenge but we made it!
Sarajevo is a fascinating city where so many cultures and influences meet. It is the evidence of the country and region complicated History.
In some way, we fell in love with Bosnia and Herzegovina!

Thank you for this video! I remembered the same places when I went through on Via Dinarica last year. And I met the same people as you. Bosnia is an amazing country with incredible history and the people here are amazing.

Coup de cœur pour ce pays aussi. J'avoue ne pas avoir reconnu Blidinje et Prenj, vous êtes courageux d'avoir traversé ça sous la neige. En juillet j'ai eu le climat totalement inverse, et la grimpette pour monter à Prenj (quand on vient de Jablanica dont j'ai reconnu le pont détruit sur la vidéo) est mortelle avec la chaleur :)
Pfff j'imagine, il doit falloir du courage pour s'y attaquer au milieu de l'été aussi ! Surtout qu'il n'y a pas d'eau à Prenj si j'ai compris ?
@@FurtherStories ça va (1 ou 2 sources, et récupérateurs d'eau de pluie aux refuges), y'a pire (Velebit par exemple)
Merci pour ces belles images. Avec beaucoup d’euphémismes « histoire compliquée », « histoire riche » vous avez réussi à parler de la B.-H. sans aborder l’histoire récente... C’est un choix respectable, mais qui laisse un goût d’inachevé. Car, s’il y a bien un pays qui porte presque partout les stigmates de son passé récent, c’est bien celui-ci. Or, en refusant d’en parler, vous pardonnez aux principaux coupables et, plus regrettable, vous ne permettez pas de prendre la pleine mesure de la réalité. Une belle occasion manquée.
C'est simplement une vidéo qui relate notre expérience. En Croatie, les gens n'avaient que la guerre à la bouche, et nous en avons parlé dans la vidéo. En Bosnie, les gens que nous avons rencontré étaient beaucoup plus tournés vers l'avenir que vers le passé.
Je ne pense pas que l'on puisse dire que nous pardonnons quoi que ce soit à qui que ce soit en réalisant une vidéo sur notre traversée de la Bosnie-Herzégovine

Yes we did! Well as there are some trails and mountain huts, I guess we were not the first ones to hike there! 😊
@@FurtherStories True Prenj is big you were probably with a guide.
And deep snow neutralises the threat of them going off.
Yes that's what we thought about the snow. Even though it also makes the trail more difficult to follow.

My Uncle lost his foot after the war because he stepped on one.

We are actually careful, there is few laps about landmines and we have them, we always ask people around to have as much information as possible and so on. Thank you for being so caring 😊
