Just a reminder that Chad Stahelski set up a meeting with Kevin Feige after he finished John wick 3 to talk about making a movie for them that mainly being ‘Blade’ …. They decided to go with that other nobody director who seems to have been so bad and inexperienced he caused this domino effect… it seriously can’t be this hard to make a fucking blade movie…
I mean James Gunn and The Russos were also relatively nobodies when they got hired by marvel. It's not about who is who, it's about are they good storytellers or not. But If director of John Wick wants to do a Blade movie, they should have at least hired him as the director of choreography.

@@victory7763 That's not the same thing at all. There is a huge difference between sidelining your lead character when the actor is alive and writing out a character when the actor dies. Chadwick Boseman had an amazing performance and it was near impossible to follow up from that. On the other hand, it's been years since the old Blade movies. It's perfectly reasonable to reboot Blade now.

@@victory7763 Chadwick Boseman died. That’s not an excuse to write off Tchalla. It’s a very valid reason to. At least for now, it’s pretty reasonable to let some time pass before we get a new iteration of the character. It’d be too weird to immediately have a new actor right after Chadwick’s death.
@@datguy3581 It's a very convenient excuse. Boseman passed, T'Challa did not die until they decided to kill him. Chadwick Boseman was a real living breathing person, T'Challa is a fictional character that Stan Lee created out of his creative mind. Two different people. One is real, one isn't.
It's stupid and insulting to reduce Chadwick Boseman's life to one role, and it's also stupid to pigeonhole the fictional character to one actor just because white dominated media decided to take 60 years to finally put the character in live action; and THAT QUICK they decided to kill off the character. 60 years of waiting for T'Challa to get a live action appearance like Batman, Superman, Spider-Man, Wonder Woman, Hulk, and countless other just for them to immediately kill him back off and give the excuse of "welp the actor died, let's kill the character too" . "Back to the vault you go T'Challa"... who cares if your movie is the second highest grossing solo film of all time only second to Spider-Man No Way Home... who cares right? Black male heroes don't get trilogies in the MCU before passing down mantles. I said BLACK male heroes don't get trilogies in the mcu before passing down mantles. That's reserved for the white ones. Heck Thor is about to get 5 movies and his protégé is already dead...
And now they don't even want Blade to have ONE MOVIE before passing down his mantle. And that's even if the movie gets made. There's all this difficulty and mental gymnastics in getting a Blade movie out, but they had no issue getting Eternals out, which are lesser known characters than Blade. I liked Eternals, can I get a chance to like Blade too?

Hell, at least when the women took over it was because T'Challa died. Blade would've still be in the movie.
T'challa died because Chadwick passed away. It's not some effort to push women into the spotlight. It's because Boseman had such a strong performance that it would be weird and off-putting to recast him immediately.

i'm all for women getting more lead roles but to reduce the blade to the 4th lead character in his own movie in favor of female characters is going too far.

@@alexjones50personally, I don't think it's the fact that they're women, I just don't think it usually *looks* believable. Say what you want about Gina Carano, but her action scenes are hella believable. I never believed a single punch, kick, or flippy bullshit thing from Scarlett Johanson as black widow, and that holds true for most female action scenes. It's one of the things I find most frustrating about film.
The life lesson the writer should have done is looked at Blade 3 when Hollywood tried to insert white heroes into the movie and everyone hated it.

Marvel is trying to T'Challa Blade. From the Blade comics a few years ago the idea was to make Blade female, but the fans said no, however, Marvel did some sort of making Blade a mentor to a female vampire. I passed on the comic series, and heard sales were low. To make Blade 4th lead isn't surprising to me.........
I wouldn't mind Blade's daughter succeeding Blade, but not in the FIRST movie. Let Blade have a trilogy like all the ogs did
There is absolutely nothing wrong with Blade's daughter. Now I think it's reasonable to want the first Blade movie to be about Blade but it's perfectly fine to bring her in at some point.

I don't doubt that mahershala would kill it as blade but it's to late and they need to unfortunately recast him. He us 49 years old and they haven't even started filming. Blade is a 3 film franchise maybe more like thor. How are you going to explain a vampire that doesn't age getting old? They should look for some super talented actor in his early to mid 30s so they can have him as blade for the next 10+ years

IMO this spotlights how far the MCU has fallen. They’ve announced a movie without a proper script or connection idea in place. As a Marvel comic book fan long before a Marvel movie fan, what made it great was each movie was connected and a “must see” to understand the entirety of the next movie. Now, they’re moving too fast, announcing Phases, Movies and TV Shows before they’ve even worked it out.
It’s simple. Slow down. Get the best writers all together, come up with great compelling stories for your new characters then connect these characters, movies and tv shows. They’re so concerned with generating “content”, they’ve missed why their audience stuck around to view it in the first place.
Blade should be connected but building up the Midnight Sons/ the darker side of the MCU (Moon Knight, Man-Thing, Werewolf by Night, etc) and if opportunities present itself in the future possibly bring them in for cameos in the lighter side of the MCU
They already connected Blade at the end of Eternals.
No one gives a damn about Eternals including Marvel lol

So my friend was cast in that version of blade and i was the reader for their audition. Ive read parts of that version. I wouldnt say he was the forth lead but the screen time was shared with 2 female characters close to Blade.

Worked pretty well in Mad Max: Fury Road. BUT. That was the fourth film in the series(which I guess this would also sorta be.) Still. Ali needs to be established.

One writer out of several. Just because the draft he did work on didn’t match this description doesn’t mean that none of the drafts did.

I have t seen a quote that he read a dozen drafts (I’ll take your word on that) but that wasn’t every draft. The dozen drafts that he saw was likely Marvel’s top drafts: each having some elements that they wanted to keep that he would use as a reference while writing his draft.

Yeah. There is a tendency for false narratives to run wild when it comes to speculated female characters.
I believe he was the fourth writer hired. At that point, he wouldn’t have seen every draft. He said that this description didn’t match his draft. He can speak to his experience, but the article didn’t say it was his draft, just that it was one of the drafts at some point. His comments don’t definitively debunk the claim.

This is the same thing as Dr Strange MOM, where it wasnt Dr Strange movie it was Wanda And America Chavez movie, Which i am fine with if the movie was called something else but its called Dr strange so i expect it to be about Dr Strange and to see his character Develop, it was just dissapointing. And due to this after endgame Marvel has continued to lose intrest of majority of people. Its just a shitshow
Dr Strange was Dr Strange and Wanda movie the same way Civil War was a Captain America and Iron Man movie or Infinity War was an Iron Man and Thanos movie. Having the villain have equal amount of time as the hero is nothing new in the MCU. America Chavez was very clearly just a sidekick character. She didn't get focus the same way Strange and Wanda did. I'd argue it makes sense to have Multiverse of Madness heavily feature Wanda. She's a more popular character than Strange and has had more focus after her show. The movie was basically a monster movie where Strange was the survivor and Wanda was the hunter/monster. Strange did get character development. His story was about accepting that he can't control everything. He had to move on from Palmer and he had to trust that America Chavez could use her powers on Wanda.
But he DID have development. Wanda and Chavez didn't. Considering Chavez only functioned as plot device (not even a character), I dunno how people keep saying it's even her movie.

I don't know what movie you watched, but Doctor Strange had by far the most character development in MOM. It was definitely his movie. You can complain that he didn't get to beat Wanda himself, but you cannot complain about character development or screen time.

The overt bs Marvel tried to force into Black Panther nearly destroyed the franchise, probably killed it. It seems like they are using the exact same playbook with Blade, which explains why we've reached four years since the film was first announced. It's getting ridiculous now.

It's my understanding that contracts are hyper specific like how much screen time he gets and even where he's placed on the poster and where his name comes up in the credits
He can walk. He would just have to pay whatever penalty if a judge finds he was in breach. Cass in point. People sign year long leases to rent an apartment and leave early. They can't be forced to move back in. They are taken to court and required to pay damages
