Hey my mayor , I worked in the hospitality industry a few years and reps from the council would rock up.,stay in expensive rooms ,ordered expensive wine and swanned around like royalty.
AT is absolutely out of control with ideologues and needs to be cut off at the knees.
This man is a a rarity a honest politician
His mien is not all that genial nor is he very personable at all,
I don't care if Brown is not a perfect speaker. His main points are very clear i.e. we need to live within our means. Spend less, earn more. Want nice things? Pay for it.
Good work Wayne. A realist. No frills. Straight up guy. Only person in charge I have heard speak real figures with transparency for a long time
He is a terrible speaker but what he says is what needs to happen. I love how he acknowledges people who are trying hard to follow his requests. I hope he can implement things to better the ratepayers and Auckland city and not feather peoples nests. Cutting wasteful spending is a must. Sell the airport shares. Budgets are hard but necessary as mosts households will know.
Like him or hate him all you want, but the man speaks many truth's.. I worked for a council contractor throughout 1999 - 2009 and the frivolous spending and utter waste I saw entrenched in there was horrific, you would provide a quote and think 'there is no way they will get approval for that', and low and behold the very next day a P/O number would come through... He is so correct in saying that this 'I want I want I want' spending culture absolutely has to stop, and be replaced with 'what do we need'... From my experiences I say good on you Mr Brown, you are on the right track in my books...
The main media outlets have it in for Mr Brown. So we are told the press conference was chaotic. Appalling ratbags.
What is so chaotic about it? Looks pretty reasonable and calm
He is literally speaking facts, people ignore his looks and speaking skills and listen to what he is saying exactly
His delivery isnt great, but hard to fault the intent "our capacity to borrow isn't constrained, but our capacity to repay is" - too true
What a well-intentioned speech - Makes alot of sense of to me

Guy made some good points, what did he say that was wrong?
Personally i think people should not focus on how the mayor looks, how he talks etc and focus upon what he is saying. Over spending, borrowing and excess printing of fiat currency creates debt which is the cause of inflation. He speaks the truth yet when people speak the truth no one wants to hear, they rather focus upon things that have no relevance whatsoever!
Everyone else was beating around the bush and he was just straight up. Not bad Brown, not bad.
Why didn't the Media give Jacinda the same treatment? They were bought off. That's why
