Ellen is an S-Rank / 5-Star Ice Attack Character who specializes in dealing massive ice damage to enemies, and upkeeping her flash freeze stacks. After watching the gameplay footage I'm tempted to get Zhu Yuan, but will have to see how she feels in game. She reminds me of Konoko from Oni - an old action game I played a lot back in the day.

The reason I recommend Zhu Yuan is that building a team with her is much easier, as the only Ether support in the game currently is Nicole who you obtain for free, and then to get the faction bonus you can add Anby who is decent at building Daze, who you also get for free. For beginners Zhu Yuan is also ranged (well, she's more mid-range actually) which means you can crowd control and telegraph dodges much easier than Ellen, who is constantly on the move and weaving in and out of combat. Also, with Ellen, Lycaon is one of her best supports since they synergize so well together, but Lycaon is an S-Rank Agent and is therefore much harder to pull if you don't get him on your discounted Starter Signal.
If you get Lycaon on your starting Signal, then try and pull for Ellen if you want some of the highest burst damage potential in the end game.
If you want a simpler but still really strong team, then just wait for Zhu Yuan and save up all your early game Encrypted Tapes for her.

Im new to these kind of games how do the rolls work like i found a character that i like that isnt out yet and i want them but dont want to spend money any tips on how to save for them (btw the character is miyabi i saw the cutscene and i want her now) I'm already on chapter 2 but I'm worried that I spend to many spins and haven't been saving

I was planning on pulling for Zhu Yuan because I think she's cool but after watching this I'm way more into Ellen's gameplay style, so I will be pulling for her first and hoping to maybe get both. Fingers crossed lol

What's the reasoning behind seperating your channels? I enjoy your HSR stuff I figured you'd upload on there as a main channel. Just genuinely curious! great video and thanks for the content.
Mainly for algorithm purposes! I spoke to a few who are more knowledgeable than I am regarding youtube analytics, and they suggested two channels to not potentially negatively affect the star rail channel.
Zhu Yuan is my fave, but I have no self control at launch so I'll still pull Ellen

Correction, based on Zhu Yuans description when you use her in the chapter 2 intermission story, her bonus actually activates on ANY support character rather than Ether element. This makes her very flexible to slot into a lot of different teams.
This video was based based on the CBT 3 information (it was posted before the game released!) but yes this is a very nice change for her :D allows for more flexibility

I lost my pity on Ellen and got Nekomata. Right now, I'm at 68 pulls, close to hard pity. I'm using Sol 11, Ben, and Koleda, and my second team is Neko, Piper, and Lucy. With their help, I cleared 10 of Shiyu's defenses. Should I still go for Ellen?

The fox dude w/ the Baton + Shield combo could probably have pretty good synergy w/ Zhu Yuan in a Zhu Yuan/Nicole team, assuming he's a Defense unit (which, let's be honest, dude has a shield, he's 100% gonna be a Paladin-type).
Love how mobile Zhu Yuan is, same reason I like playing Grace- i think that type of combat is where ZZZ shines the most
ellen has the best design in my opinion but i feel like she's going to be the seele of this game, just pure damage and will be power crept in the future, but i like both of their play style her and zhu yuan. i think i'm gonna wait for 1.1 leaks before pulling at all
And there's a chance Zhu Yuan may become the Jing Yuan of this game in the future
Seele was relevant for quite some time though, all damage dealers are gonna get powercrept sooner or later.

hmm its a hard choice, if i pick ellen i have to stick to ice teams, if i pick zhu yuan which might be more f2p friendly i can be more versatile with my line up
As for what 5 star I will go for now that I think about it I’m not really sure at first I was gonna zhuyan cause I think she looks cool and maybe Ellen for the ice 🧊 team alone but idk they both look really cool I think I’m gonna think about it a bit before I try too pull for either and just play through the story and get a feel for the game first

as for game recommendation... god eater series (tho i'd reccomend playing the og psp one first, if you can), as well as.... idk, phantasy star portable 1 and 2/2 infinity?

I didnt think i would like this game so I just pulled. Got Ellen and Soilder 11, love them both and enjoy the game much more than anticipated. The gun girl is cool but sometimes when you dont know if your in it for the ling hall, you just get what you can get to have fun. Extremely happy with Ellen tho her and Soilder are so much fun to have as my first two dps

I reccomend everyone here to play the Xenoblade Chronicles trilogy! My life, and the way I approach every day, would not be the same had I never played any of these games

I’m gonna choose either of them depending on which Standard 5 star character I get: if I get Lycaon, I’ll get Ellen, if I get any of the others, I’ll probably pull for Zhu Yuan :)) I’m happy with either of the Standard characters tbh, they all look amazing!!!
I recommend everyone to try trails from daybreak! The trails series can definitely be tough to get into but i think daybreak is a good starting point
Personally id wait it seems like the early characters get put on standard banner or just arent that good later in the game at least in previous hoyoverse games
Hello fellow Sonic Rush enjoyer!! Same, i love Blaze as a playable character, i wish they make another Sonic Rush, this time with even more playabel characters like Silver or Shadow. As for my game recommendation, it would be another DS game, Ghost Trick: Phantom Detective. High recommend for those who want story driven games and good puzzles.

It comes down to if I get Lycaon as my first standard 5 star. If I yes then I'll push for Ellen, if not then I'll wait for Zhu Yuan and build her with Nicole support. I don't care about meta, they both look like a ton of fun to play and I'd like to have a very solid team to push harder endgame content. Also, recommended games: Stellar Blade, Pacific Drive, and Unicorn Overlord. All very different but fantastic games! Give 'em a try.

I'm not sure if I should get Zhu. Wouldn't be the first time I was burned by a 1.0 character named Yuan.
To me Zhu Yuan doesn't look that engaging. So far the melee characters looks sooo much more fun to play. I guess I will have to actually play around with it to know for sure. So I'm 50/50 on whether I want to pull Ellen and pretty sure I'm not interested in Zhu Yuan. Hoping to get Nekomata from the beginner banner, but if I get Lycaeon I'll definitely consider going all in on Ellen. Might hold off on wishing for limited units until we know what's coming up. Doubt we get Miyabi in 1.1 but if we do I'm definitely saving for her. It might be an Ayaka situation tho where she was in the beta but didn't get released until almost a year into Genshin.

Ellen for sure, early game gains = better set up for long term gains. Couple that with the fact that her W-Engine is really solid for ice units going forward it’s a win/win

Sonic rush is one of the coolest games i played as a kid. Always been a big fan of the sonic series and im looking forward to sonic x shadow generations this year. As far as the banners i want zhu yuan more but i will be rolling for ellen but if i lose the 50/50 im skipping.

I'm more interested in Zhu Yuan bc the elements I want to try out the most are electric and ether. So I want to pair up Zhu Yuan and Nicole on one team. And if there's ever an event where you need two teams, I'd do electric and ether OR I am interested in the other cop woman so maybe I could have a Cunning Hares team and a Cop team.
