Hot dog buns: the secret to make them perfect!

- INGREDIENTS
240ml (1 cup) warm milk;
20g (2 tbsp) sugar;
1 egg;
7g (1 ½ tsp) dry yeast;
440g (3 1/2 cups) all-purpose flour;
2g (½ tsp) salt;
30g (2 tbsp) soft butter.
METHOD
Whisk warm milk with sugar, egg, and salt. Sprinkle dry yeast and whisk to combine.
Add sifted flour into the liquid and knead until smooth dough forms.
Knead soft butter into the dough and form it into a ball.
Set the ball aside to double in size (for around 1 hour).
Cut the dough into 10 pieces, and roll each one into a hot dog-shaped bun as shown in the video. Set the buns aside until they are doubled in size (for around 30 minutes).
Brush hot dog buns with whisked egg and bake at 180°C/350°F for 20 minutes.

There’s no way water wasn’t added in one of the cuts.
My current edits:
- 1 extra tsp salt
- 1/2 cup warm water (100-110 degrees) this was added after all initial ingredients were combined slowly 1 TBsp at a time. I would say it should have been added immediately in whole with the initial yeast mixture into the flour.
My dough is currently rising, I will provide an update when an hour has passed. Smh
Also, the yeast mixture needs time to rise. Make sure milk, egg, salt, and sugar mixture are between 110-115 degrees for 8 minutes. It should be frothy at the top.
First and second rise went well, the dough is nice and velvety. Will update again after baking.

I made it according to the recipe in the description and they're delicious. I used my stand mixer.
The taste was good but they were a little dense, I believe this was due to over kneading the dough since I was incorporating the water slowly to find the proper amount. I think if the warm water was just initially added all at once when the yeast mixture was added then it would have been fine. I actually plan on retrying this recipe with the water just being added all at once here soon. I’ll make sure to post an update with that as well. Also, I’m glad yours turned out great, maybe you live in an area with higher humidity or something but living in Arizona, the dough without the water was incredibly dry and crumbly. Crazy how climate, elevation, and home temperature can all cause such varying results when it comes to baking!

I'll not criticize anyone's choice of condiments. Put anything on a hot dog that you like, it's all fine with me. This guy appears to like barbecue sauce and mayo, and that's his choice. But squirting it all over the bun in some lame attempt to be "artsy" is inexcusable. More annoying than the music, IMHO. The fluffy buns, springing back to pressure, on the other hand, are really nice.
I know. Muted the annoying music and enjoyed the video until I saw the raw dog and choice of sauce spread not inside the bun like normal people do but across in some weird artsy way.
Where can i buy all purpose flour? Or i can use tbenormal sasko flour?
When i did it was not soft but hard dough it became do i need to use3and half cups of flour

i just followed this recipe. the dough is currently resting for 60 minutes. will let you know how it turned out.
my buns exploded. not sure what i did wrong but they got torn up while baking. still good breadys but they have a big crack. maybe my oven was too hot. not sure.
@@samson6707 Hi, always when you roll each one of them, leave the joint line underneath, also see how the ends are pinches so to 'close' any place that could open when in the oven.
If you put them side by side with, say, 5 cm inbetween, after resting an hour, they stick together and once cooked, you can separate them apart, leaving the sides soft.
Also for brioche and french baguette, the line of junction goes under, and leave the smooth surface on top.
Rather let dough rest 30 or so, and buns, 1 hour.

The recipe makes 8, just multiply everything by 4 and get 32 buns.
I was on board until I saw that light pink hot dog, white substance and non ketchup stuff. Eww.
Barbecue and mayo. The bun was dry. I don't think this person has had a proper hot dog before. Gotta grill the sausage, get some char on there for flavor. Mayo on the buns before placing the sausage, not after. As for the barbecue sauce, that's kind of a strange condiment as normally the sausage is cooked and not pink so you already get a smoky flavor by cooking it.

The comments are hilarious 😂. Yes, the hotdog looked wacky at the end, but everyone has different tastes. Depending on where this vid was made, hotdogs might not be very common. It might not be so obvious to everyone in the world, so be kind.
