    Why do the feds keep saying they're paying for it when the situation seems to be the feds are going to pay for it right now until liability and other funding can be worked out?

    • @davefoc
      @davefoc Před 2 měsíci +2

      @@zcam1969 Yes, at this point the idea is to get the port open as fast as possible and the feds ought to be providing the money up front to accomplish that. I don't think it means that everybody that might be liable here all of a sudden gets a free pass. That's what it sounded like if you listened to what Ben Cardin said.

      Yes you could say that - Federal government is paying for the upfront costs pending court resolution of liabilities/insurance recoveries. Sort of wordy.

    • @seeharvester

      Because they're lubing you up.
      The taxpayer is going to pay for it, and when and if the insurance companies reimburse, they (the politicians) will put the money in their pockets.
      The media will also be getting their cut, which is why they keep repeating the narrative. And did you notice that now they have no idea how much it's going to cost?
      You'd be wise to get some lube of your own, preferably the one with the de-sensitizing agent in it, lidocaine or whatever it is, cause this one is going to be big.

      Going to the insurance company and ship's owner and ship's operator now would cause massive delays. Front the cost now, sue later. U.S. needs to ban the owner and the operator from all U.S.ports until restitution is made and no reflagging company ships in another country to get around a ban.

    Oh and as a resident of Baltimore here is what they are not telling you... The ships GPS showed it in the center of the Channel right up to impact the pilot only knew he was out when the bridge came into view. The ship did not intentionally drop its anchor as is being reported if it had the chain would be in the position of being drug behind the ship not vertical as it is now! the anchor dropped when the weight of the Key Bridge Smashed the ships bow. Also NTSB reported the ships black box is missing 2 mins of info leading up to the crash.

    • @G6JPG
      @G6JPG Před 2 měsíci

      Look at a map of the area, and zoom out a bit, to see the layout of the roads, other bridges in the area, and so on. Although there will presumably be horrendous traffic delays over those bridges and roads, I suspect it would still be quicker to use those alternative routes, than to cross by ferry. So the business case for running one might be dubious - even assuming a suitable one (and port points to load/unload it) can be found.
