Hi India! Linda (almost the same spelling! :-)) is one of the best vocalists of all time and I think you'd love to hear her sing my two favorites from her: Love Has No Pride and Long Long Time - back from her time with the Stone Poney's. czcams.com/video/0hoX4rXJGWg/video.html czcams.com/video/A0qm8nq8RcA/video.html So beautifully sung and I look forward to seeing your reaction. Be blessed India. Thanks!
Hello India. I love your reactions. You're so sweet. Would you please have a listen to Grace - You Don't Own Me ft. G-Eazy (Official Music Video). There are various versions but this is a strong one and it's fairly recent.
Linda's voice is so darn powerful, and yet you hear her sing a song like "Blue Bayou" and it can be soft and beautiful at the same time. Man or woman, she has one of the best voices in music, period. The queen of the 1970s.
She was literally the biggest female rock star in mid 70"s. Other songs to listen to are Hurt So Bad, Just One Look, Its So Easy, Poor Poor Pitiful Me, and When Will I Be Loved and more.....
Michael Nesmith wrote Different Drum. I always found it interesting that he was in a band with songs being written by others but he was actually a very good song writer too.
The Kennedy Center Honors was broadcast tonight (12/15/19). Linda was one of the honorees. She had so many great hits. This particular version of You're No Good doesn't showcase her incredible range. Her version of Warren Zevon's Poor Poor Pitiful Me, Long Long Time, Blue Bayou, Still Within the Sound of My Voice, Tracks of My Tears are all better representations of her beautiful and powerful voice.
Andrew Gold most famously wrote Thank You for Being a Friend (use on Golden Girls) and Lonely Boy. His mother was the "famous" Marni Nixon who was the voice of Maria in West Side Story, Eliza in My Fair Lady, Anna in the King and I, she also played a nun in Sound of Music. Andrew and Linda wrote two drop dead beautiful songs together "Lo Siento Mi Vida" and "Try Me Again". Give them a listen.
I love the second Mexican album MAS Canciones (MORE Songs of my Father) even better! Please try: El Crucifijo De Piedra! She hits these pristine high notes! She also did operetta: Poor Wandering One (both studio versions!), she sings even higher! This woman had a voice that could cross styles.
Love Linda. Remember her on the radio when I was little. She's done so many wonderful things in music. Sad what she's dealing with now but I'm proud she a fighter and not giving in. Wonderful artist to listen to
Check out Linda singing “Long Long Time” if you want to here her pure voice. She was young and it was beautiful, especially if you can find live performance.
The Midnight Special was my thing. They had the best artists of the day performing live. No matter what I was doing on Friday night I was going to watch that show.
Wow, what a funky arrangement. That rocked. Linda was a massive star in her day. Trendsetter of 70s/80s style. And she could party like a roadie. One of the best female voices in American pop music. "Different Drum" from her time in the folk group Stone Poneys where she started. And one of the live versions of "Willin'" would be nice.
Linda Ronstadt is one of those Sanger's that me and many other guys had a huge crush on. She is 72 years old now and has dementia. One of my all time favorite female singers!!!
Hell ya Mis India! That line “your no good” always gives me goose bumps when Linda belts it out. The midnight special was THE show to watch with your friends
I saw a recent interview on video with Linda. She talked, softer, but fine. She says she knew she could no longer sing at a level she felt comfortable with. She was a perfectionist with her music, voice, etc. She did say she still sings with her family, like she did when growing up. Love her. There is a film out now about her.
I was in middle school when she was on the cover of Time magazine decades ago. I thought she was the most beautiful woman. I saw her show when she came to town. She was the most beautiful, even in person in my eyes.
Linda Ronstadt legendary great performer beautiful vocals her career reaching way back to the mid-60s and various bands with the likes of people like Glenn Frey and Don Henley the song you're no good it just one of her many classics at one point she was under the Motown label
Linda has done every style genre duet with anyone any artist and still remained as humble as can be. She does everything and still remained real and innocent
She did everything, Rock, Country, Pop, Swing, multiple types of Latin. I think she even got a Tony award for doing light opera on stage. Gillbert and Sullivn, The Pirates of Penzance.
I always loved this song and Linda Ronstadt was as cute as a button. unbelievable how much this song was passed around before Linda Ronstadt made it the classic that it is.
One of the most powerful and beautiful voices ever. Parkinson’s Disease has silenced it. She sings songs across all genres. My personal favorites are: Blue Bayou Tracks of my Tears Ooh, baby baby Silver Threads & Golden Needles Long, Long, Time Different Drum The Midnight Special is a great source of pop and rock music from the 70’s. Stayed up every Friday to watch great live music and Wolfman Jack!!! ✌🏼♥️🎼
To be introduced by the fabulous Ronnie Milsap is an honor. Linda had the greatest female voice of the time. My girl from Tucson Arizona. Her pop had the hardware store downtown. She moved over to Spanish after awhile.
India, I think it is great you are discovering some of the iconic female singers of the past. These ladies had it way rougher in this male dominate industry they had to work harder and have more talent than their male counterpart at this period of time. I was a kid when Linda was on the radio she was a powerhouse.
Linda is best singer most people have never heard of these days. She had 13 Gold & Platinum albums from 1973-1989. Could sing anything from country/folk music to opera. Sadly Parkinson's disease has taken her voice.
All the guys loved Linda Ronstadt. Every musician had the boots for her! The Eagles were her band for some time before forming the rest of Eagles and she was Happy for them. Class act and has Parkinson's and can no longer singer. Her Latin music was a huge hit later in her career! South America idolized Linda.
Love Linda Ronstadt ♥️..My favorite is "Blue Bayou" but also love all her Spanish "Canciones de mi Padre". 😭 I'm so sad she can't sing anymore..life is not fair sometimes 😥
India I wish there was a Midnight Special these days. We would stay up late friday nights to watch this. It was always REAL singing, and REAL playing of instruments. No lip syncing or voice effects. Always pure. Do a reacts on the Bay City Rollers please! They were 70's teen idols from Scotland.
Oh man, love me some Linda Ronstadt! I think she might have been my first childhood crush! And what a powerful voice she had! You should check out her cover of "Tracks of My Tears".
I love Linda Her voice is unique and recognizable. For vocalists under the age of 20, very few female vocalists have unique recognizable voices. Diana Akuninova is another. Now I’m going to treat all you Linda Ronstadt fans around the world to a vocalist who passed away recently but in my generation ( 1960s ... I’m 74 years old) had a small but worldwide cult following. Her name Morgana King with a celestial heavenly ethereal voice, unique and mesmerizing. Just like Linda in terms of uniqueness. When a song by her came over the radio, ( today Spotify , CZcams , etc) within the first 30 seconds you KNEW it was Morgana King and you stopped whatever you were doing to listen. Frank Sinatra called her the best female vocalist he ever heard. If I may so bold as to suggest you listen ( when you have a few moments) to the following 4 songs that will silence your mind and open the floodgate of your heart. 2 were created and posted by a “ Morgana fan” with remarkable imagery which enhanced the emotional impact!! And hope you add them to your playlist so that others may enjoy. Please CZcams “ Morgana King Happy Birthday 2017” ( 4:26 in duration). The song is called “ desert hush/I am a leaf” please be sure to click the 4:26 one ( the one with a photo of her with lyrics) and NOT the 4:25 or any of the others. “ Morgana King Prelude to a kiss” ( 3:49 duration) “Morgana King Lazy Afternoon” ) 3:48 duration with hauntingly beautiful imagery that enhances the already emotionally impactful Morgana rendition. Perfect for our times of isolation but enraptured by the natural world. And finally one more that is to this day her signature song about a lover that promised to return but never did. “ Morgana King sings a taste of honey” ( 5:17 duration). So pleased that the younger generation who I send these songs to are amazed and profusely thank me for turning them on to Morgana. Please take a few moments out of your day to listen to the unique angelic sound of Morgana. Her emotionally impactful voice will transport you to another world. I promise. R.I.P. Morgana King.
First with the Stone Pones and helped put the Eagles together, Grammy winner and when she would get together with her friends Dolly Parton, and Emmylou Harris there voices were unmatched. It breaks my hard to know we will never here her Voice live again because of her Parkinson's disease. She was my first Female Singer I became a fan of.
Linda Rondstadt is a legend. She had (she can't sing any longer due to Parkinson's Disease ) one of the strongest, purest, most passionate voices. She was the Queen B of her day. Her career spanned over 30 years. She sang country-rock, rock, 1940's Big Band standards, opera (did stage production of Pirates of Penzance). When she wanted to record traditional Mexican songs, in Spanish, she was told it wouldn't sell and would damage her career. She did it anyway - and it was a huge success, made into a TV special and dropped a second album of Mexican songs. She was instrumental in helping Glenn Frye and Don Henley form The Eagles. I hope you're able to listen to more of her music. She's so much more than just a good singer. Linda Ronstadt is EVERYTHING!
yes, it's great. A Karla Bonoff written song. Karla wrote a lot of things for Linda, but has her own music as well. You can see her on YT and more of her songs, including "lay down beside me". Quite a talent and Linda loved working with her
Linda is one greatest singers of all time .You need to listen to several of her tunes to get the full effect. She sang country ,rock, opera, and to celebrate her Mexican heritage did a couple of albums in Spanish. She’s still with us unfortunately she is suffering from Parkinson’s which has effected her vocal chords. She no longer can sing.. A great documentary came in January I believe that it is called “Linda: The Sound of Her Voice”.There are two female vocalists in the last 50 years that I can easily say are in that category as GOAT. Whitney and Linda.
A lot of these TV shows back then didn't let artists really perform live. I'm only like a minute in, but this appears to be legit live. Well done, Midnight Special.
Thank you for watching

If you've never heard it, you must listen to One Tin Soldier by Coven. It's an anti war song from late 60's early 70's
Hello India. I love your reactions. You're so sweet. Would you please have a listen to Grace - You Don't Own Me ft. G-Eazy (Official Music Video). There are various versions but this is a strong one and it's fairly recent.
Could do with one of those amazing duets this gal got with Aaron Neville.
Linda had a fabulous voice that count rock as well as songs like. Blue Bayou. Great Voice🌟🎶
Linda's voice is so darn powerful, and yet you hear her sing a song like "Blue Bayou" and it can be soft and beautiful at the same time. Man or woman, she has one of the best voices in music, period. The queen of the 1970s.

@jacksprat418 Facts
Yes between this and Don Kirshner's Rock Concert the 70's were something special.
It was must see TV on Friday nights back in the 70s!
Came home from a drive in movie more than once in time to watch this. Back when we only had 6 channels in Dallas
She encouraged Glenn Frey, and Don Henley to start the Eagles while they were playing in her band. Pretty cool story.
P.s. she was also my childhood crush before I discovered Linda Carter ( Wonder Woman), and Stevie Nicks. LOL
And Jackson Browne was in the mix at the same time.

@@vinniem67 - Ok... Not much freaks me out on CZcams, but I could have wrote the exact same reply word for word... Wow.

Linda has a phenomenal voice with an unbelievable range.
One of the greatest voices of all time, You need to react to her version of Blue Bayou ♥️🔥
She was literally the biggest female rock star in mid 70"s. Other songs to listen to are Hurt So Bad, Just One Look, Its So Easy, Poor Poor Pitiful Me, and When Will I Be Loved and more.....
Her first hit was "Different Drum" and still my favorite.
Yes most people don't know about her early career including the Stone Poneys. I remember hearing it and saying is it? Yes it is.
Michael Nesmith wrote Different Drum. I always found it interesting that he was in a band with songs being written by others but he was actually a very good song writer too.
I actually like the Nesmith written songs that the Monkees performed. "You Just May Be The One" was actually a favorite of mine.
Don't forget Blue Bayou.

@@sunnycalico6643 I agree.
There should be a movie made about this iconic, legendary singer. Her voice is out of this world!
Great song. She also teamed up with Dolly Parton, Emmilou Harris, it was an awesome trio.
did great work with Aaron Neville. Great.
Yeah they did Neil Young after the Goldrush
Powerful Linda... and the late great Andrew Gold on lead guitar, he was one of the best songwriters during the 70s and worthy of a proper reaction
