I would like if you react to Sonic CD (JP) music it was so much 90's
Sonic CD USA!!
The link in the email doesn't seem to work, is there a fix for this?
PLEASE react to sonic cdâs Japanese soundtrack, itâs so good
Man this soundtrack is so fun, sonic always seems to at least have a great OST even if a game might not be great. Luckily Sonic Mania is great all around
Yes, a phenomenal OST. Thank you for watching!
They took all the effort out of making a game in order to put more into making a soundtrack
Yeah it's so sad but also promising that a fan made game is the best sonic game in years. Sonic just can't be good in a 3d game (at least haven't seen a good one for 10 plus years). I really feel if they brought the freedom fighters back and did some sort of dynamic around a sneaking element/involving the robotisizor. It would have the game a real cool dynamic.
@@zbazza6978z but what about sonic adventure one or two
@@vortex_all9055 yeah they are good especially the 2nd one but being old games they still have their issues. The problem is modern sonic games excluding Generations are just underdeveloped. Sonic Forces is the biggest waste of potential Ive seen. It's been done well before in the SatAM cartoon and in the Archie books. They didn't want to use the freedom fighters, I don't know why but sure. At least give us some context for the game
If you liked this you might want to take a look at the soundtrack of sonic unleashed, its pretty good
Awesome thank you for your suggestion! Thank you for watching!
Totally second this. One of the best soundtracks in the series imo.
Third this!
Fourth this!
I think you would love the soundtracks of adventure 2 too :3
Hyper Potions did an amazing job with the songs they did for Mania. I listened to Friends on loop for like a day the first time I heard it.
Thank you for watching! Which AC is your fav?
@@MusicTheoryforGamers I don't think I know what that is.
@@joeyfumia5525 Assassin's Creed, where your pfp is from haha
@@joeyfumia5525 bruh how do you have an assassins creed pfp and not know what he means by AC?
Glad there was someone else here who wanted to show their appreciation for Hyper Potions! Been listening to their music for a long time and Iâm so happy with all the success theyâve found in recent years :)
Fun fact: Studiopolis is the name of a real post-production studio. The matching name was a pure coincidence, but Sega liked it too much to abandon it once they found out, without at least checking if Studiopolis would be okay with the name's use.
Did anything else happen tho? Well I'd be honored to have my studio's name on one of the greatest games of all time ngl
@@RealValkor Studiopolis is actually in charge of voice recording for Sonic games, so they checked directly with them and they were cool with it. They came up with a few alternate names in case they weren't okay with it, though.
@@Gabo2oo do u have any idea what the alternative names are cuz am kinda interested
@@rofl870 "Opening Night" and "Fame Plaza" are the known examples.
I'm getting this info from the Sonic Wiki by the way, apparently Christian Whitehead told this story on the Sonic Retro forums.
@@Gabo2oo Opening night zone sounds kinda cool so at least if we didn't get studiopolis opening night would be a great replacement

Hydrocity act 2 holds a special place in my heart. It is probably one of the first songs I ever took note of for how good it was. Loved the song when I was 6 years old, still love it over 15 years later!
Same with Marble Garden 1 for me. I still think it's one of the best basslines of the 16-bit era.
It's still my favorite theme of this game period. Like man this theme just screams high speed which fits considering Hydrocity is the best underwater level in the series (to me at least)
@@zeospark9715 ye it definitely is lol
the aesthetic of tidal tempest always stuck with me though, i love sonic cd despite lots of people seeing it as trash
I always loved the stardust speedway songs even if it was for only for 4 years
Guitar coach? Yeah man you need Sonic Adventure 2âs soundtrack, excellent focus on guitar, some really good stuff there
So much slap-bass!
I wouldnât say excellent but itâs good

The Sonic series and its OSTs hold a special place in my heart, growing up with the series and what not. And honestly all of the mainline entries are worth reacting to!
One soundtrack that is very colorful and varied from the series is Sonic Heroes, it captures the feel that the original 2D trilogy (and CD) had in its level themes and music!, so listening to it is a very fun time.
Gota Go Fast
Even if im not playing the game i always listen to the soundtrack cause it's mad good. Like i have played a lot of games but in music sonic takes the cake
I love it when you explain certain theory/composition concepts that you notice in the music. You seem to really know your stuff, were you classically trained?
Not as such, two college degrees in music (contemporary, jazz) but you learn classical theory along the way, and I also teach hybrid jazz/classical theory in my books.
@@MusicTheoryforGamers Awesome, Im in college for an associates for music rn myself
i love seeing different peoples' reaction this this ost, a lot of people love it. it literally drove me to become a musician and has been my biggest influence since i started, tee lopes is a musical genius in my eyes! :)
one of my main dreams is to be able to master that style tee established for the original mega drive tracks, he pushed just the right amount of life into them to create definitive remixes of the originals, i love em so much.

As someone who got this game day one, and has followed Tee Lopes (the composer) youtube channel for 8 years, I love this soundtrack (and still do to this day!)
Tee Lopes really knocked it out of the park for this OST. I remember when I first started following him for his Sonic remixes and original tracks intended for Sonic⊠then when he was announced as the composer for Sonic Mania my mind was blown⊠and as always, the man NAILED IT!!! Tee Lopes is an inspiration, truly.
There's a game called Plok for the SNES that has an impressive soundtrack for its time, I would like to know if anyone would agree with me if Best Guitar Couch could react to it. It still talked about to this day how the composer Tim Follin mastered the sound chip to make that outstanding music inspired by prog rock.

@@brickblock369 Yep! You just read my mind!

This gameâs soundtrack is an absolute bop with all of the themes, the one the really stuck out to me were press gardens acts and the metal sonic theme. Loved every second of this game.
You can tell Tee Lopes heart and soul in this soundtrack. He really knocked it out the park with it
i feel like you would enjoy the "Sonic Rush" ost, its one of my favorite soundtracks!
It's a shame this is the only sonic soundtrack he's looked at. Sonic is a series well known for its music, and is absolutely something that should be experienced.
Most notably: Sonic CD, Sonic Adventure, Sonic Adventure 2, and Sonic The Hedgehog (2006) have some of the best in the series.
I want him to hear Casino Park from Sonic Heroes

YES
ABSOLUTELY. I love âThe Rain Formerly Known as Purpleâ
imo 1 had a stronger ost
@@tek3576 Risk of Rain 1 has the better ost to immerse yourself in the game, but RoR 2 is just to vibe while playing the game
I LOOOVE Chris Christodolou's music! Absolutely voting for some RoR2.
I noticed you mentioned R&B sound for Stardust Speedway act 1.
Once again, you get the prediction/assumption right. That track is a remix of Stardust Speedway (Past) from Sonic CD, which has HEAVY New Jack Swing influences. NJS uses lots of R&B chords, and also those horn hits you mentioned.
Now that I think of it, lots of classic Sonic had New Jack Swing influences. You can hear it clear as day in Hydrocity.
Just gonna say, a lot of this game's OST is remixes of songs from old Sonic OSTs, respective to the game being mostly remixes of old Sonic levels. Hydrocity Zone Act 2 is one of my favorite tracks from Sonic 3 & Knuckles, and maybe one of my favorite tracks in Sonic Mania.
YOOOO This is EXACTLY what I wanted you to listen to!! One of my favorite soundtracks of all time, glad you enjoyed it :)

I think Hydrocity Act 2 will always and forever be my most favorite Sonic OST ever
Same here
Something a lot of people donât notice is that metallic madness acts 1 and 2 are a rap battle between Sonic and Eggman/Robotnik. They both spend the entirety of their song totally roasting the other.
I'm probably the only one that wants this but the paper mario: the origami king ost is absolutely fantastic and definitely worth a listen
I had no idea reacting to game OSTs was a thing I needed in my life. Wow. You got a new fan! â€ïž
I've heard this soundtrack so many times that I'm sick of it but I will NEVER IN MY LIFE be sick of the sheer level of *STANK* they put into this entire soundtrack! A real love letter to the entire 80's and 90's musical scene with especial attention being given to Pop and New Jack Swing, which were Sonic's musical bases back in those days. Tee Lopes is a diehard Sonic fan and the sheer amount of homework he's done over the years shines in this soundtrack.
Update: trimmed the first song due to rejected copyright, Section 107 of the United States Copyright Act makes it possible to use copywritten material for educational purposes.
Now I'd love a reaction to the updated Sonic Robo Blast 2 soundtrack, which has some memorable tunes and leitmotifs. Capturing the classic feeling of Sonic music is something to achieve.

I'm going to throw Kingdom Hearts into the soundtrack suggestion list. Yoko Shimomura at her absolute finest.
And thanks for all these amazing soundtrack reactions! As someone who's very experienced with music but very _bad_ at music theory, it's enlightening to hear your opinions.

Kingdom Hearts music is some top notch stuff for sure. From KH1 to now⊠the fact that we got a rhythm game out of the music doesnât really surprise me when you put into perspective how amazing the music is.

I personally want to say I really love this series, there are so many great music soundtracks out there and it's cool to see someone with musical experience's thoughts on them
I wish more sonic games had music like this
Sonic music is generally great but we need this kinda grooviness that the older games and mania had
(Also why do I always think of the Freedom Planet ost whenever I listen to this gameâs soundtrack)
26:22 BRAZIL MENTIONED!!!
I really wanna see your reaction to the Final Fantasy VII Remake OST, the soundtrack of that game is phenomenal
That sounds like a great idea!
The original FF7 had some amazing music and Remake sure did it all Justice⊠and the tracks that were added by Remake⊠amazing! And itâs only part 1 of the story⊠the rest of the soundtrack has A LOT to live up to.

@@MusicTheoryforGamers Thanks for responding to my comment! If you could consider listening to the Earthbound soundtrack, itâd mean a lot to me. Itâs really advanced for its time and sounds really neat!

This soundtrack is pretty damn awesome, glad you enjoyed it
Our man getting to listen to Hydrocity for the first time. What a lucky dude.
all the Stardust Speedway tracks are my favorite by far. I was never into 80s and 90s and jazz music and such but the main melody is just perfect.
As someone who has a plethora of video game soundtracks who's been listening to them for the last 30 years is glad to see someone listen to it just like I do
Gotta say, for a lot of games it really helps to see the situation in which a track plays to really appreciate it. Press Garden Act 2 is a damn good track on its own but seeing what the level while hearing it makes it even better in my opinion.
I forgot how much I love this ost it's one of my favorites.
This is my favorite OST for any video game ever. I know there's plenty of bangers out there, but personally for me, this one takes the cake.
This Game has such a good Soundtrack! Loved your reaction!!!
This is the first game that I pre ordered in my life and I absolutely made the right choice, the music and gameplay is just so UNBELIEVABLY good
I would honestly love to see you react to some of the ost for a hat in time
This soundtrack is a masterpiece
58:11 favorite solo of the ost! That synth was disrespectful as hell!
I loved the big smile that spread across his face when the rap started in Metallic Madness 1.
The Sonic games will always hold a special place in my heart, even after all the skeletons were uncovered in Sega's closet (and there were many.) But my happy memories end with the Dreamcast. Yes there were good ones afterwards but none of them captured the same magic the classics and Adventure 1 and 2 had in my eyes. Mania came very close, but it was one of those games I just didn't enjoy as much as the classics, probably because some of my all time faves were missing from 1 and 2 and for legal reasons, 3.
Still, there were some bangers and especially loved Studiopolis Zone!
As someone who played the originals when they released, this game and soundtrack hit every single fiber of nostalgia in my body. As a guitar player (self trained by ear, no formal education) I have so much respect for the job Tee Lopes and Hyper Potions did to encapsulate the feel of old console and arcade music while adding fresh new elements that grab your attention along the way. The game itself did that, so for the music to back that up and give you that feeling fully in every element of the experience was really important and they nailed it. Still one of my favorite all time games and game soundtracks. Great reaction to the OST.
Finally Sonic Mania gets its turn!! Been waiting so long thank you đ
Now for my obligatory recommendation: the Team Fortress 2 OST! Itâs mostly i think youd call it Big Band? But there is some pretty good variety and i think itd be fun to hear your thoughts on it! :):):)
Thanks for the idea! Thank you for watching! Sonic finally!

If you like sonic music consider checking out the Sonic CD JP OST. Itâs full of really awesome tracks!
14:41 Aww, this part sounds an awful lot like Kirby music! XD Cool!
And thanks for the reaction!
Yakuza 0 has a lot of tracks with an emphasis on guitar I think you would love! It's a good fit for the channel
Awesome game, awesome OST. Both the remastered zones and the new music were a brand new experience
I came here to see his reaction for Metallic Madness Act 2 and boy it did not disappoint.
The track with the orchestra hits came from the Puyo Puyo series that got its streams crossed with Sonic, it was originally Satanâs theme and the hits were accompanied by absolutely furious drums being synthesised by the Genesis

Favorite Part bro !
I'd love to see you give the Sonic Adventure 2 OST a whirl. I've got a soft spot in my heart for the game, even though it's admittedly pretty bad, but the soundtrack is still really cool. I appreciate how they attempted to give each character in the story a different musical style, which makes for - like a lot of my favourite soundtracks - a very ecclectic collection. I especially love the Latin jazz feel of Rouge's sections, with the vocal scatting, conga, flute, and vibes. They also incorporated quite a bit of vocals, which is still fairly unusual for game soundtracks.

Thanks! Also, thank you for watching.
I really recommend checking the classic games soundtracks if you haven't. Some tracks from mania are remixes of said original games. 3 & Knuckles And the Japanese Soundtrack of Sonic CD have great soundtracks.
Sonic CD is one of my favourite Sonic games, and I love the Japanese Soundtrack.
@@NeclirGo EU gang? Or mobile/pc jp fan
@@TeeV479 Uh... I guess JP fan .
If youâre interested, thereâs actually a Sonic Symphony concert that was performed for Sonicâs 30th anniversary that played a bunch of Sonic songs
This guy's reactions are PRICELESS, I love it, keep up the work man!
Sonic Mania is one of the best games I've ever played
Your reaction was really good! The Sonic Mania OST is awesome! Though it's not my favorite Sonic OST, that would have to go to Sonic Adventure 2's OST, so thats my suggestion for another OST reaction
I don't know why, but I love seeing him vibing to sonic maniaÂŽs music xd
OMGGGG THIS SOUNDTRACK THIS COOL THIS LEGEND
I wonder if people realize the Press Garden Act 2 Solo is still in Act 1, just with less notes
Fun fact, the composer Tee Lopes, did act 2 first, then did act 1 (he said this in a livestream, that unfortunately, has been deleted, as far as I'm aware)
I was not expecting pinch to be in there
The Sonic fan-game Sonic Robo Blast 2 (version 2.2 to be more precise) also has an incredible soundtrack, and it would be cool to see your reaction to it.
50:03 To support the James Bond influence that you alluded to, Flying Battery zone act 1 story is about the infiltration to Eggman's airship (while act 2 is about escaping the ship which is about to be destroyed).
This was great fun! Interesting how much Time Trials felt like someone should be singing. It felt like there were lyrics there.
If I may suggest, you should do Ys Seven.
Damn, as a guitar coach, you should check out Sonic Adventure! Mostly composed by a genius guitarrist! I think you will enjoy it more. (If you haven't alredy)
Sonic Adventureâs guitars is easily my favorite thing about the soundtrack⊠Jun Senoue really demonstrates how versatile an instrument the guitar is, but also the bass lines and drums are grooving and itâs all pretty great. I totally agree that he should check out the OST of SA1.
Would really love to see you react to te soundtrack of Sonic CD, both Japanese and American ones, but the Japanese first because I'm biased lol
Did not expect sunshine cassette to be ALL OF THE MENU
I have a good feeling you would love the sonic CD soundtrack, though they are technically 2 soundtracks they are both fantastic
1:37:50 fun fact thereâs actually lyrics here itâs about eggman rapping saying that heâs the greatest villain to even be on your screen and heâs gonna capture that hedgehog called sonic
Hey there! I love seeing your reaction to soundtracks, and a really good is the Oneshot OST. I highly recommend if youâre looking for more stuff to listen to đ
the JSAB (Just Shapes And Beats) soundtrack is very similar to the opening couple songs in this OST, a lot of upbeat techno tracks, but way more variety in the tone of said tracks.
Yo. you have to consider react to Katamary Damacy or Guilty Gear Strive soundtrack!
Katary Damacy it's weird and have a versatile japanese soundtrack of jpop, funk music and more
Guilty Gear Strive have a really good rock and metal banger songs tho !
Just found out about this. Man this is so interesting, I've never seen anybody anaylise full video game soundtracks. Keep it up!
Also if I may request a game: "Chibi Robo Plug into adventure" has an amazing soundtrack XD
This ost is amazing :)
Hylics 2 Soundtrack, work of art that one is
