    I hope they do more Magic videos after the sponsored stuff, it's so entertaining. I just got all of the expansion cards in Magic: Duels too, so it would be cool to see if they played a few rounds through that as well, since it's easier to record and all.

      same would be awesome and it looks like they got sent a ton of cards so ton more magic game to play would be fun to watch and could get more of the yogs crew to join in and have 1 massive tournament but my guess would be as soon as this matches are over the contract will be fulfilled and they w ill abandon it which would be sad because as i said it looks like they gone a ton of cards sent to them

      @m3grim Před 7 lety +15

      Ernie Spratt Well, starting with 7 is still stronger than starting with 6. The goal with this rule was to help smooth out post-mulligan draws, hopefully leading to more interactive games as a result.

    When you mulligan you may scry 1 after you decide you keep. (Scry: look at the top card of your library and decide to keep it there or put it on the bottom. This doesn't stack.)

    Typically when drafting a you want 17 lands to 23 other card types

    • @raymondbenjamins5884
      @raymondbenjamins5884 Před 7 lety

      Didn't they make a 60 card deck though? Still, 24 seems a bit high. I personally would have gotten 20 lands (maybe one or two more if they had some nice effects) and 40 others.

    • @Rhyooski
      @Rhyooski Před 7 lety

      Raymond Benjamins It really depends on the style of deck. A control deck benefits from more lands, as does a ramp deck but something more aggressive may want a much lower total of lands. Pay attention to your curve when deckbuilding :)

    • @raymondbenjamins5884
      @raymondbenjamins5884 Před 7 lety

      TheIsaacMatthews Well, I personally always make pretty aggresive decks. I really like to play black with lots of small creatures (and a couple big ones) and lots of cards that can bring those creatures back from the graveyard.

    • @Rhyooski
      @Rhyooski Před 7 lety

      Raymond Benjamins If you are playing a draft though, you don't want to lock yourself into an archetype early, but that's cool. In naya burn modern i play 19 lands (4 shocks, 2 basics, 2 copperline gorge and 11 fetchlands) but in blue moon i play 22 lands (2 shocks, 9 basics, 1 sulfur falls, 1 desolate lighthouse, 1 cascade bluffs and 8 blue fetches [currently 4 tarn, 1 misty, 2 delta and 1 strand]).
      It really depends on your curve though, some decks want even less lands.

  • @slipperiestbogle219
    @slipperiestbogle219 Před 7 lety +1

    Uuuum actually, 'pushes glasses up' *combat damage* is delt in an order the atacker chooses.

    • @slipperiestbogle219
      @slipperiestbogle219 Před 7 lety

      So if he delt damage to the creature blocking the artifact and killed it in the process, the other creature immediately loses its buff against lewis.

    • @Hawk_of_Battle
      @Hawk_of_Battle Před 7 lety +5

      All combat damage is dealt simultaneously, unless something has first strike or double strike. The operative still had 3 power when it dealt damage and immediately after which state-based actions checks to see which creatures have been dealt lethal damage, which THEN results in the familiar dieing and it's trigger goes on the stack in the end of combat step.
      The only time assigning damage matters is when a creature is blocked by multiple creatures, THEN the attacker assigns the order in which combat damage is distributed to each of the blockers. For example, if attacker A has a 5/5 and defending player B has a 4/4 and a 2/2, the attacker can only kill 1 of them, because he's essentially facing a wall of 6 toughness over 2 creatures, so you assign an order for the damage your 5/5 is dealing. If you assign the first 4 damage to the 4/4 the remaining 1 damage has to be assigned to the 2/2, or vice versa, whichever you choose (sometimes you might want to kill a specific creature over another). This then gives the defending player a chance to save their creatures with pump spells, because the damage has already been assigned and the attacker can't just reassign afterwards.

  • @stijnxd

    • @slipperiestbogle219
      @slipperiestbogle219 Před 7 lety +2

      Evochio When a creature becomes blocked, the blocking creature blocks all damage to the player immediately (unless the blocked creature has trample), so after declaring it as a block, no matter what happens to it, the damage is blocked. However if you sacrificed a creature blocking a trampler, since the creature blocking it is no longer there, its default defense is set to zero. A creature with trample deals all damage exceeding the blocking creature's defense to the defending player so all damage would get through.

      @MeganSmite Před 7 lety +7

      Thats now how it works in magic you heal for the power of the creature not the toughness of the creature you are hitting
      So hitting a 1/1 with a 10/10 life link would give you 10 life

    • @joshuana5132
      @joshuana5132 Před 7 lety +2

      That's not how it works. I've checked the rules more than once. You gain life equal to the amount of toughness. You gain life based on the amount of damage dealt, but the creature's toughness can only take so much damage.

    • @MeganSmite
      @MeganSmite Před 7 lety +6

      Joshua N/A iv played magic for 4? 5 years I know how it works lol and you are correct you gain life based on the amount of damage dealt the creature still deals 2 damage despite the token creature only having 1 toughness
      Creatures deal damage based on there power not on the other cards toughness ( look up a life link game on CZcams and you will see what I mean)

    The fuck are these rules? How can you use a creature to block if you are sacrificing it for another power?

    • @special4ce
      @special4ce Před 7 lety +3

      Once a creature is declared as a blocker, the attacking creature which is blocked by it will do no damage to the player for it is blocked. So after blockers are declared you can sacrifice the blocking creature to gain additional benefits from it, as it would die anyway.

      something1random23 Took me some time to get used to it too :p It does sound weird and makes little sense, but if you follow the game phases it becomes logical.

    • @FIREWARRIOR46
      @FIREWARRIOR46 Před 7 lety

      If the creature attacking has trample however, then since it doesnt need to deal its damage to the creature to kill it, if it was sacrificed/destroyed then all the damage goes to the player.

    • @MatthewWaugh
      @MatthewWaugh Před 7 lety +1

      You're seeing it the wrong way. It's not a dead creature being sacrificed. Imagine a creature that throws itself at the enemy as a diversion but in reality is doing something else (activate some ability). The enemy doesn't find out until it's late and can't divert the damage to the player. That creature sacrifices itself before the enemy kills it but the damage doesn't go to the player because they fell into the creatures trap. It's completely logical. Also, if the enemy has trample that tactic doesn't work because the damage that doesn't go to the creature goes to you.
      It's all in the steps of the game. The blocking stage is not the same as the damage dealing stage.

    7 years later I barge in asking.. didn't he do the wrong mulligan? He only drew 6 cards and not 7, picking one to put at the bottom.
    Or was that rule changed after the time of filming?
