My smile was ear to ear when I heard that "How rude!" And I agree this was well done.
So glad someone agrees with me on this. It came completely out of left field in the best way possible. I heard him talking off to the side and I was like “wait, is that… Threepio?” and I was immediately excited. The way Mon Mothma reacted was perfect and encapsulated my own reaction. Relative surprise and minus some of my own major personal enthusiasm. Threepio’s always been my favorite of the pair of droids, and seeing him in a cameo that actually made sense with the story and utilized the character effectively without overstaying his welcome was amazing. Honestly one of the best cameos Star Wars has done.
First time I heard C-3PO's voice I was like what ? no way, but it was kind of a cop out when they tried to hide him a little bit.
I know I felt the exact same way. It make 100% sense Leia is to busy doing whatever she’s doing saving the galaxy but makes sure to help out her friends
Personally what I think about Leia being off screen I think she's trying to rebuild the Republic and as Leia said from the campaign of the new Battlefront 2 "Building a republic is busy work..." and I think with Leia off screen she's trying to use every muscle she has... I haven't read Star Wars: Bloodline (sorry Greedo but it's on my list of Star Wars books to read) but thanks to Greedos point of view of the book it helps me understand what Leia built finally came apart because of DRAMA!!!
Plus what he did is his job. I know we’re used to him ending up in action situations and other random things/places but that’s not what he was made for. He’s a protocol droid. His job and perpose is to talk and assist/do in menial tasks
It’s probably the happiest Threepio has ever been. Doing his job without getting shot at.
@@queenfan45 to be honest their was almost a gone drawn. If chopper was strapped he probably would have shot at xeano
Honestly I love the idea of Threepio becoming kind of a respected political figure in his own right.
Also a good example of avoiding digitally resurrecting Carrie Fisher.
Somehow Carrie Fisher has returned...
This. Im so glad they didn’t bring back the R1 actress.
@@StuartLugsden don't smile for much longer because they do plan to
Fully agree, perfect example of a well-executed "cameo"!
I'll also say, I was so happy hearing Anthony Daniels again, any time seeing him on screen is one that brongse joy
Threepio is always a delight. Loved seeing him have a role in the story.
It's funny because EVERYBODY was so loud about how Hayden was coming back to be Anakin in the "Ahsoka" series, but I never, not even ONCE, heard a whisper about C-3PO's appearance.
As such, the cameo was a surprise, but a welcome one. The best part was it served Hera's narrative more than it served the fans' nostalgia tanks.
Now compare that to C-3PO in "Rogue One".
A surprise? Sure, but it feels unnecessary when compared to Leia being handed the plans on the Tantive IV, a hand-off which quite frankly works because we had seen the end of Jynn Erso's story and so we could start to follow Leia and what happened with the plans.
Simply seeing R2 and 3PO for a split second boarding the Tantive IV would have had the same effect, and with no dialogue, the focus of Jynn's narrative wouldn't be distracted by the knowledge of the next part of the story.
Totally agree. I also think that CGI leia would have distracted too much from everything else. So much of the episode discussion would have been about her both in universe and about the technology.
In the book Bloodline we read so much about how C-3PO is this very important, albeit a little annoying, helper of Leia. It was amazing to see him in this context
That's what I was thinking! I haven't read Bloodline yet but it's definitely on my Star Wars book list!
@@Mister_Matt_X I have read one Thrawn book, Lords of the Sith and Death Troopers. I have other star wars books to read but I chose Bloodline cuz I thought it would be my last favourite, didn't think there would be anything interesting in that time period. The author is brilliant, the book is amazing. I actually laughed out loud multiple times, I cried once. Leia is amazing and I never thought I would be so interested in the politics of the New Republic.
C-3PO is one of my favorite characters I was hyped to see him back
I definitely teared up! Anthony Daniels came back yet again!! God Bless Him!!
I was really happy that 3PO got to appear mainly due to the fact that, yes Carrie is dead, and this is a good way to have Leia's presence known without having Carrie to do a CGI/de-aged Leia, or a recast completely.
That dude calling Threepio a “Mere Droid” made me so mad. C-3PO is a literal war hero
The trust they have for Leia in this scene makes the story of them losing their trust after learning Darth Vader is her father even more tragic.
It made me almost tear up for some reason
It's the walking embodiment of "This meeting could have been an email"
Agreed. Perfectly balance Star Wars cameo. No heavy-handedness, no fanfare.
Seeing C-3PO was truly special in this show, it reminded me that the heart of star wars will always be in the original trilogy, not in a cynical way, but because of how precious the OT is, having him come as a nice surprise felt truly special.
It warmed my heart.
Anthony Daniels just gives me joy so it worked for me
I was really excited to see an old friend show up. I wonder if it'd ever revealed that anakin Is the one who made him.
Well SO MUCH for one final time huh Daniels?
I kid of course, we love seeing ya my man ^_^
I love the irony that I got an Ahsoka ad completely focused on teasing Anakin before this video.
Probably the most heart-warming cameo in Star Wars, it made me really happy
I have to know if Daniels was bolted into the suit or if this was a voice role.
It felt really FORCE 👌🏻
I was born in 1970. Seeing C-3PO sent me into a serious feel session. This was my childhood. Amazing. I am choked up just writing this.
You need a poster or a framed cearal box or something.
I'm amazed 3po is CGI. I didn't realize it the first time.
What?? No way. Why was he standing so weird than? And did I missed something or forget something? But his leg was gold?? And I know it was gold in force awakens as well but ar this point that's still 30 years away so...
Agreed, it didn’t feel shoehorned in. As you said, narratively it fits.
Nice background
This put a smile on my face
The reason for Ben Solo (Who was I think was four or five years old at the time.), Han Solo and Leia Organa’s absences in Ashoka (2023) with C-3PO, Leia and Han’s protege and Admiral Ackbar and Mon Mothama appearing in the New Republic Senate on Chandrila in their place was because Han and Leia were too busy raising Ben to do their responsibilities as a New Republic senator and shipper.
hellogreedo try not to repeat himself challenge: impossible
One of the few commenters that is spot on with all his Star Wars opinions.
If only all Star Wars fans were like HelloGreedo, we'd actually have more decent SW movies and shows.
I love how youtubers jumped on this as a lazy cameo like we know you are just a hater
I loved this episode
I was so much happier having C3PO to convey Leia's pressence versus a questionable cgi/deepfake Leia as well! Happy to see some more video content lately too 😌
Did I miss something? It seems like Hera is surprised to C3PO. Was Leia's help setup for in one of the previous episodes? I don't understand how she knows what Hera needs. I feel like I must be missing something, because Hera goes into the meeting ready to get court martialed and doesn't pull the Leia card until after C3PO gives his speech. The message he brings is tailor made to save Hera but I don't understand how Leia knew what to write.
To be clear, I'm not a troll, I didn't hate the episode or even the cameo, I'm just confused
I wonder what Han’s up to.
❤
I'm glad he didn't have that red arm
I probably wouldn’t have recognized him.
It wouldn’t have made sense canonically, he gets it shortly before TFA
But he got his second golden Leg already,
It also made sense for Luke to arrive for Grogu since he's pretty much the last of the jedi. Agree or disagree?
I liked it but I've seen Filoni use this fan service trick so many times now: just when the audience is about to get bored, throw in a familiar thing to wake them up
CP3O is the best character.
as long as the Mandoverse takes place in a time period where the Legends characters are still around and young and in the prime of their life.. you CAN'T avoid cameos... it makes NO sense to leave the OG's out if they are still young in this time line... get over your self righteous way of thinking and let the people see what they are waiting for and deserve
Great to see 3-PO, but sad to hear him sounding 3-P-Old. 😕
Leia needs to just be recast. And it's very unfortunate that Carrie Fisher is no longer with us but even if she was at this point in the timeline she would be too old to even play Leia. Her daughter is the best option I can see
This. In the beginning I understood their descision not to recast Leia, but it's been *years* since Carrie died now. They have to move on eventually.
Exactly
Recasts should only happen if the character needs to be there. Luke shokld have been recast for his extended appearance in Boba Fett, but something as small as this doesn't warrant a recast.
@@matti.8465 I'm saying to build to those extended appearances.
I honestly thought Leia being off screen has something to do with being pregnant with Ben

I agree that it makes complete narrative sense, and was really believable, but it did unfortunately fall under that “look! It’s your favourite legacy character! Let’s give u a second to woop and cheer” category that undermines cool character appearances, purely by the way the scene was shot. Might not be a problem for most people, just personally puts me a little off. It’s sort of like when Toby and Andrew showed up in No way home. Makes complete sense, but very obvious the creators wanted u to lose your mind at their appearance rather than just let the scene play out? Idk if that makes sense
To be fair, "No Way Home" had more blank and quiet moments where it was specifically designed to give the audience time to react to cameos and meme references.
But isn’t this still seeing the same thing that’s been in almost every Star Wars project 3 movies more then leia still better choice but c 3po is still a old character cameo at least jack was a new character
Nah almost all cameos are good. Just like fanservice is good. If you're a fan and you don't want to be serviced, then you're doing it wrong...
We can talk about the writing or effects or production design/quality of these Disney+ shows all day long but without a doubt the most grating and annoying thing is the constant cameo and fan service. So much of the time it just feels like someone jingling keys in my face hoping I clap and make a face like a react CZcamsr.
“😱 omg Luke skywalker showed up in the boba fett show for no reason other to have Luke skywalker and I saw him and I clapped”
It’s too much too often and it’s very obvious WHY that’s the case and it’s annoying. This episode we also got a second glimpse of Anakin in the form of a prerecorded training video. THATS a good cameo.
Yeah good cameo but..i never thought c3po had a belly I actually saw behind the suit wires of his waist the belly was very visible.. not even a CGI wire waist... A BELLY ... if you saw this you cannot unsee now sorry...
It was sooooo gay.
I don't know...I feel like Hera should have faced repercussions for going on an unsanctioned mission AND getting 3 of the pilots killed. Instead of it just being a minor inconvenience that was excused by getting approval from a legacy character. Just another interesting plot thread thrown away.
Not necessarily thrown away, it’s very clear that multiple council members straight up know that Leia was covering Hera’s rear. There is still a great level of distrust and the consequences may not be immediate court marshal, but they may come in the future. She’s not scot free.
@@WalkinStereotype Maybe. But given how the recent SW shows brushed away many great interesting dramas with simple plot conveniences I'm not too optimistic.
Wait, there are people that agree with Senator Xiono?
@andycalmes4201 no but if the good guys get away with everything they become the evil oppressor, so....
@@andycalmes4201You're missing the point. I'm saying the whole "Hera is in trouble" subplot is meaningless if she can easily get a get-out-of-jail card just by calling up a legacy character.
Also now that you brought it up, it's honestly funny that they could have chosen a responsible strict military person to oppose Hera; but they instead went with the most snivelling worm character so at no point we would ever question the actions of our heroes. "Hera should face consequences for her actions? You're siding with Xiono!"
Totally unnecessary scene, full of clichés, bad acting, and C3PO appearance is just plain fan-service. Another nail in Star Wars' coffin, thank you for nothing, Filoni.
I feel like Hello Greedo is falling for all the fan service, feels very out of character
No it wasn’t it was a literal deus ex machina in the worst way possible.
😂
