- This is the Met Office UK Weather forecast for the next 10 days, dated 06/09/2023.
Many parts of the UK have already had some very high temperatures for September, and the heat looks set to continue into the weekend, peaking on Saturday. There is the risk of some heavy, thunderstorms as the heat eventually subsides next week. Bringing you this 10 day trend is Met Office meteorologist Alex Burkill.

It's about time we had some Summer weather!
I'm looking forward to the cold and frost I don't like heat
I think 34 is exceptionally hot for any time of year.
In the uk - yeh. Valletta in Malta - is often that hot. I just cringe at these muppets making out the worlds on fire with their bright orange & red scare graphics. Shameful woke wef agenda pushing.
It was really nice to see Alex present the ten day trend for the first time, his forecast was absolutely brilliant and loving the weather too, especially hot sunshine and possible thunderstorms! Thanks Alex and the Met Office! Jason
Thank you Alex, such wonderful detail. As a gardener of food, primarily, I'm fortunate to get these details. Marvellous 1st 10 day trend - thanks again
Hi Alex, like the rest of your Met team you really speak with such expertise and clarity. Thank you for making the forecast interesting and informative. I could not imagine going about my week without knowing what is happening in the bigger weather picture. Living in eastern central Scotland, many events race past us and fizzle out after passing Ireland and Glasgow. Glad of that! Our only bugbear is an easterly wind bringing in Haar. Keep up with your metrological endeavours!
Whilst I much prefer the cooler weather after such a dismal summer I can’t really begrudge the sun lovers a late stretch of warmth, I just really wish the evenings were cool, it’s that bit of summer I really hate.
Give me 20-25 during the day by all means but I need the cold at night.
I’ll still be grudge them 😂
A great team at the met office
Hi from the Scottish Highlands... Its nice and warm here aye but it's no heat wave.
Lucky sods 😂
Very well presented, thank you Alex hope to see much more of your work.
Very well presented, thank you.
I didn't realise this was your first video until I read the comments, well done! The heat is getting to me, can't wait for it to cool down
Super 10 day forecast. Great presentation and detail
Thank you
Hi Alex, well done on your first time. Just relax and enjoy yourself as Aiden and Alex seem to do x
Judy Shaw
Bring on mighty electrical storms and cooler air.
I’ll take the cooler air thanks
Very well presented and informative. Well done young man! 👍
This summer has been bonkers. Scorching May/June, awful July/Aug, scorching Sept.
@@johnlawrence2757 August, not much rain? There was loads of rain!
@@johnlawrence2757load of rubbish 40 years ago it was similar weather ..Nothing changed much..
@@Gooner184 From what I can see, August rainfall was around average and the first half of the month was wetter than the second half. But people talk as if it rained non stop every day.
Thanks Alex! We've got the next couple of weeks off - so quite happy with the glorious weather. Nicely done sir.
Cheers Alex, great presentation
It's very nice weather but the term heatwave is not accurate.
Heatwave definition
" Requires at least 5 consecutive days reaching temperatures of 85f (29) or higher"
@@rogersinclair2772 just checked now and the heatwave definition was changed in 2022.
They have changed it but I think your thinking of the world meteorological society's definition not the met office.
September in the UK usually sees the highest water temperatures so when a high pressure system develops and winds come from a southerly direction you can get very hot weather. In October about 8 years ago we had similar temperatures to now and that was in mid October.
In regards to heatwaves I would think 1976 is the only severe heatwave the UK has had. This caused massive crop failures and during that heatwave London (my city) had 16 consecutive days over 33c which is 90f. And in the UK with the humidity 30c feels much hotter than 30c in places like Spain.
Really looking forward to it cooling down. London and its public transport has been absolutely vile, and the office is awful 🥵
Thanks Alex. Really helpful and I think this is your first deep dive, so brilliantly done. Love the shirt too!
Errrr 10 day trend not deep dive!
The shirt looks like Jackson Pollock has thrown up on it!
Like Alex's style let's see more of you on the flagship videos like DD and this.
Thank You Alex.
Excellent detailed presentation!
Thanks Alex, hope to see more of you 👍👍
Thank you, Alex
3:43 not sure that kind of magnitude is associated with 500-1000hPa thickness. Shouldn't it be 850-1000hPa thickness...?
Welcome: nice to see you're keeping the team's sartorial standards!
Nice job Alex! Surely not an easy one to do, but you managed it with aplomb!
Excellently done again
Great presentation Alex, nice to see someone else doing the 10 day trend for a change!
Many thanks for a great forecast Alex. It seems to get hotter as the days go on, mind you I really don’t like this sort of heat 🥵 way too hot. I really do hope we get some rain, though from your chart I doubt it where we live. So look out when Lee comes! Thanks a lot😊
Brilliant forecast🎉
So glad it's ending soon, thanks
Thanks Alex. Loving this hot weather.
Nice job Alex. 🎉 Thank you
Thanks Alex,
Well done Alex. Great 10 day trend. Same style and top quality as the other guys 😊
Thank you for the informations.
Have a nice day🙂everyone.
rain that doesn't reach the ground would be no rain then.
Great job Alex, very well presented!
An excellent presentation, Alex. Well done and thank you for such an informative presentation!
nice one fella! top man!
Very well explained forecast clear and easy to understand well done
Excellent presentation, Thanks Alex.
Fantastic presentation, thank you. What's thickness? Very enjoyable.
Looks like everyone buys their shirts from the same place
Thanks Alex great to see someone different doing the 10 day trend.
Excellently presented .
Mother England does as she pleases and is scorching in the winter if she wants to be, (especially so down here in these parts).
talk sense
I was in Greece in July, 45 in the evening. The week after it felt cool at 34
Excellent weather presentation.
Excellent news & great weather. Lovely to get some Sunshine & heat after a dreary cold miserable July & August
Can you please pop the date in alongside or instead of the day on the top right.
Thankyou Alex ❤
Well presented 6 day forecast. But no 10 day trend to speak of apart from reduced temperatures and average precipitation. Will it rain next week in the south and what is the wind direction. Planning a sailing trip and this is key information but without a trend of pressure patterns it is hard to discern anything
Scotland and the rest of the UK isn't really built for these kind of temperatures but it's as much about the poor air quality and not really getting a decent amount of sleep that's very frustrating.
Thank you.
Thanks How's everyone cooling down
According to my phone it’s going to be 31 degrees in Cardiff, on Saturday
Finally summer!!!
Hello Alex. Thank you for great forecast. Nice to see a new handsome young man! (like your shirt!) x x x
Not the hottest September on record the hottest September on record was 1906 where temperatures reached 36.6 c..Its the old saying is called an Indian summer in the UK
I lived in Andalusia for 15 years so this is a normal warm day for me.
See all you saying we love the sun are the type to moan at night when its super uncomfortable to sleep in. Yes day sun is nice but when night falls it’s horrible
Cheers Alex
I like this weatherman.
Welcome Alex nice have you.
Alex has clearly stolen (other) Alex and Aidan's snazzy shirt wardrobe.
Loving that shirt :)
Am I the only one who thinks Roy Castle when they talk about breaking records!
The hot weather has come in
time to Acclimatise us for are holiday in Jamaica in a few days time but you do get air conditioning in your hotel room and a big Ceiling fan which I don’t have in my home
Why was the sky soo milky today? (Norfolk) was sunny but the sky was almost white!
Well for those who enjoy this heat your a sadist and need help summer doesn't have to be so hot you cannot move let alone sleep
Brilliant job Alex welcome to the 10 day trend 😊
Full ppe absolute killer
Oooooh goody.
Moved mattress down stairs….. blugh
Hi Alex
In my country this very very 🔥 hot
Can we have some heat up in the Highlands please ! Second year of no summer ! No climate change in the Scottish Highlands !
No way am I getting hotter just so you guys can have a heat wave 😂 my life’s worth more
It's the climate casino. As predicted by climate scientist Paul Beckwith.
Thickness of what? 🤔
It's funny to view weather forecasts a few days (or in this case one day) later. Promises of unbroken sunshine? That aged well.
THANK YOU SO MUCH ALEX BURKILL YOU DID SO AMAZING TELLING US THE 10 DAY TREND FOR THE FIRST TIME 😁👍🏼 + I REALLY CAN'T BELIEVE THE TEMPERATURES FOR SEPTEMBER TOO ME IT'S SO GREAT ☀️😁👍🏼.
are floral shirts mandatory at the met office? Not that I am complaining!
why is lighting considered an issue
I thought the highest temperature this year broke the previous record of like 40C back in June, not 32.5C? Could be wrong but just wondering
That was 2022
Met office is so muddled my 7 day on the official app ( updated regularly ) is different birmingham not above 28 and Monday drops significantly. I think I will use the old system, look out the window on the day.
Normally aiden or Alex do our 10 day trend this is a changed
As this is a 10-day forecast on CZcams, the narrative becomes confusing if only using relative terms to indicate time. Days of the week are not useful because three of them are repeated in a ten-day forecast. Specifying the date in the title helps, but specifying the day as well would help a little more. CZcams seem to avoid publishing the actual date that videos were published, presumably to avoid videos appearing to be "stale". And although you have provided the date in the title, it doesn't help much. It is difficult to keep doing date maths in your head, especially as the presenter seems to be in a rush for some reason. And, although this is UK weather, it is of interest to people from North America, where they would interpret this as a forecast for 10 days commencing June 9th. Fortunately, there is a very simple solution to all of these problems that will make your forecasts much easier to understand. The presenter just needs to refer to the dates as Wednesday the 6th, Thursday the 7th, Friday the 8th, etc. It would also help to specify the month when the forecast timespan covers days of two months. Otherwise, this just becomes a rather short, dull weather documentary covering some recent or upcoming period of time.
What is Hot for the uk is á mild day in most off the USA
yes but you have air con everywhere we don't!
You guys don’t get to complain
Loving the omega block ❤
🎉 thanks Alex 🎉
Precipitation anomaly
uncertainty word again
10 day trend. Forget all the charts and graphs, and just tell us your best opinion of the Weather, each day, for ten days... It shouldn't be that difficult....
