  • Black Diamond Spot Headlamp: amzn.to/2jo2Ulu
    The Black Diamond Spot Headlamp is an excellent value, with several usable modes and extreme versatility. The highest mode offers 90 lumens which is a great compromise between spot and flood. The cool feature about this headlamp is that you can dim the modes from high to low, and select any brightness that you want. There are also flood modes in both white and red, which prove to be useful in several different situations. The blinking mode can be used for signaling in the event that you needed it to. You can also lock out the light so that it does not turn on at all, which is handy if you are afraid of the light accidentally activating. The headband is very comfortable, and offers good durability as it will stay in place once adjusted. The headlamp can be angled by using a sturdy mechanism that locks the light into place very well. It is also water resistant to splashing water (IPX4 Standard). It uses 3 triple AAA batteries, which surprisingly offers great runtime with the various output modes. Overall a great headlamp! The pricepoint is between $34-$40 depending on which color housing you want and where you buy it. Thanks for watching, be safe, and PEACE!

    I can't find the user manual anywhere online. Great overview of the various modes. Thanks for keeping this video up for so long.

    I think what I like best about this HL is the strap. It is long and wide enough, easy enough to adjust, to be comfortable around your waist, which is wear I prefer to have it for running.

    Thanks for the vid. Ours wants to skip between beam and red but after the video I was able to trick into going flood, hahaha. Thanks! the white flood is nice for trails and working. The red is actually extremely helpful when your the last one up or the first one awake.

    I saw one in REI today. I wanted to get it. For $40 seems a little more than what I would like, but other than that, its an awesome looking light. Great review. Thanks. :)

  • @echardcore
    @echardcore Před 11 lety

    Unfortunately they don't usually have samples of all models in stores like REI and EMS and that's what makes CZcams great, along with constructive criticism. I said you did a great simple review unlike others that could be over 15 minutes long unnecessarily. And as for your comment about the hairs on your hand, etc, I hardly think the quality, ease of use, and possible weaknesses in regards to water resistance of the battery compartment is something that compares to ".. petting it like a dog"

    I unscrewed the big bolt for opening the battery compartment. I removed the bolt. But the little door will not open there’s no gap in the … seam? What am I missing, is there a second step to removing batteries?

    You forgot to demonstrate how the battery compartment opens. This is a crucial part of my decision to equip my loved ones with headlamps for Christmas after hurricane Sandy. Great simple review otherwise.

    I got one after I lost my Princeton Tec EOS. Not impressed. The two little "tapes" that hold the halves of the shell together when you open it to but batteries in came adrift. Water proofing failed after a light shower of rain. The light became unreliable and stopped working. Talks the talk, doesn't walk the walk. Now I use a headband with a good small regular flashlight in it.

      ***** Thanx Man, I got it out last night, played around with it and finally I just watched a couple vids and ascertained that the feature just doesn't work. Time for a trip to REI. I really like it but it is probably time for an upgrade to waterproof. Keep the dirty side down!

    I purchased a few of these for family after hurricane Sandy. I returned them because the battery door latch was difficult to open. It required something to pry it open. In the cold and darkness of an extended power outage, I don't see this as being desirable. The latch itself seemed brittle and possibly prone to breaking from using a screwdriver or butterknife to pry it open. This is a great company but a bad design. I returned all 4 and got Petzl Tikkas instead. The latch opens nicely.

    • @condor5635
      @condor5635 Před 8 lety +2

      Yes I just got mine and literally could not figure out how to open the battery case. After 10 minutes of trying to decipher their single picture of how to open it with no text I gave up and went to CZcams where I was able to find a video that showed how to open the case. I think it's pretty ridiculous that companies make products like this that I guarantee the vast majority of people have issues or problems opening up the battery cases using provided instructions. They should spend more time making the more prominent languages clearer than offering it in 10 different languages and those silly pictures without text
