I never got why it wasn't even explained why Ben never attended his dad's wedding ... the writers were a little clumsy during this time. All the friends attended Carol and Susan's wedding and was on good terms with them ... it makes no sense.

When you look back on friends 20 years later, there were tons of plot holes and editing gaffes. It’s telling that it still runs on tv but it really was a terribly edited show
This was the only episode in Season 4 that made me feel sorry for Rachel. She had been in a relationship with Ross, they had a history and it had not actually been that long ago since they had broken up. It's totally understandable why she would not want to sit there and watch him get married.
Yes. And the writers making Ross moved on so quickly from Rachel, the love of his life, to marry a woman he had known only for 6 weeks is ridiculous. God. I can't stand this Emily storyline.

Rachel always wanted Ross when he was with another person. She had been in a very tumultuous relationship with Ross and is understandable why she is hurt and sad. But she always yearned for him when he was ready to move on with another woman..
Still it was not her fault that Ross chose her, sometimes human beings are like that, they want what they can't have, BUT Rachel never put a gun in Ross's head to make him chose her, the love Ross felt for Rachel was more deeper than anything he felt for anyone else so there's nothing he could do, he simply didn't have the strength to be away from her.
Their relationship was completely toxic! Ross was infatuated with Rachel because he remembered her as the 'it' girl in high school. The popular cheerleader a nerd like him could only dream of. From the moment she reenters their lives in season 1 he's madly in love with her. But really he's madly infatuated with the memory of her. We don't see his love ever mature or develop over time. It's always just that teenaged crush/idolization from high school. When Chandler has him make the list of pros and cons for dating Rachel/Julie there are all sorts of solid, real reasons for dating Julie, but for Rachel it's just "she's Rachel". The show (Hollywood narcissist) think this is romantic, but actually it shows his feelings for her are shallow and a matter of infatuation. As for Rachel's feelings for Ross...she never had any that I could see. She'd never even considered him until she found out her worshipped her from high school. I think that with her striking out on her own, and all the fear that produced, that it was an ego boost to have someone there who worshipped her and still saw her as the cool/popular kid from high school. And yes, he was her safe bet, her back up plan. She couldn't really stand him. Their relationship always fell apart in reality, but when she saw he might find someone else she always set out to pull him back to be there in case she decided she needed him. I never understood why so many people celebrated their relationship. I thought it was sick and twisted. Truly toxic.
She ws also attracted to Barry when he ws with Mindy....it's just her thing

And the road to the cringiest wedding is paved. Such haste. Too rushed. Their marriage was based more on loneliness, and on Ross's part, his denial of his love for Rachel.
Ross should've never married Emily because he never really loved her, and was never really ready to move on from Rachel. He thought he was ready, but saying Rachel's name in his wedding vow demonstrated otherwise. I think whether Rachel came to his wedding or not, Ross might have still said her name anyway. She's deep in his head and heart all the time.
Not really. Ross actually really liked Emily, he was the one who proposed, he was the one who wanted her to move in with her. Granted he never actually moved on from Rachel, but Emily really loved Ross and Ross knew that. He really had feelings for her too. But when Rachel showed up all "I just realized I'm in love with Ross and maybe if I show up to his wedding, maybe the wedding won't take place" they were both really toxic for one another, If Rachel hadn't shown up he might have really gotten married with Emily. It was their fault and they ruined many people's lives because of their toxic relationship. Plus Rachel only wanted Ross when he was with another woman. She acted like a jealous brat when Ross was happy with someone else.

When Emily said she loved Ross, he replied saying "thank you" Emily was in love with Ross, but I think after a while Ross started liking her more and more, she was mature, funny, likeable and had many things in common with her. And getting married even though they only knew each other for a short period of time was the reasonable thing to do. They would have been married, had the actress who played Emily wasn't pregnant in real life. But I think if Rachel wouldn't have showed up Ross would have married Rachel.

I could blame her EASILY. That kind of behavior is toxic and wrong. If you don't trust your partner then get a divorce, if you have to make him do things like moving and leave his work and friend, then divorce. What she did was awful, Rachel didn't do anything to her, it was ROSS the one that said the wrong name because he couldn't forget Rachel, his feelings for Rachel were waaaay deeper than anything else and if Emily had had a little self respect she must had understood and leave Ross for good since day one, no matter how much he begged.
I feel if ross Didn't defend his cheating through a fucking technicality which was 'just a break' Not a breakup , it was his fault he assumed that and decided to let loose , rachel wouldn't go through all this , she still loved him but could never forgive him . Ross infact was the reason they broke up and confused rachel further. Even if he did apologize ,that apology would mean nothing coz Cheating can never be forgiven with an apology. No, she wouldn't bc she realised her true feelings for him (Ross). She didn't even care when Joshua ran away from her (I mean, not exactly ran away but I don't know how to put that into words but I'm sure you know what I'm talking about) she was trying to convince Joshua to marry her which she knew all too well that it'd not happen. I think in this case, Rachel was not wrong, she just realised that she's still in love with Ross & that's okay bc they broke up not a long time ago so it's okay to realise this at some point. I love Rachel but I dont understand her. She was fine with Ross and Emily when she was with Joshua but as soon as it didnt work out with Joshua she gets jealous of Ross and Emily. Its like because shes not happy Ross cant be happy with another woman.
I'm not saying that you're wrong but I've a different theory for this. Yes, Rachel liked Joshua a lot & was moving on. She also told Ross to go to Emily & tell her about his feelings but after a while she realised her true feelings that she's still in love with Ross & she never really cared or liked Joshua that much & I think, it's okay. We all realise things at some point of time & that was her time, I don't know why people hate Rachel for this! It happened a lot in the following seasons where she wasn't happy when Ross was with other woman but in this case, it was okay. They broke up not a long time ago, so it's okay to still have feelings for them. In this case, I don't think so Rachel was wrong.
@@Nandini764 Rachel had repressed love for Ross throughout season 4. When she told Ross on “TOW Joeys dirty day” that she thought they have moved on, they clearly haven’t. When she heard Ross and Emily were having a blast in Vermont she was pissed and clearly wasn’t over Ross. In TOW with Emily’s fake party she was acting crazy because Joshua wasn’t giving her attention and Ross was happy with Emily. She tanked her relationship with Joshua and even didn’t care about it because she was so hurt by the Ross and Emily engagement. In short, she saw Joshua as a crush only until she saw how close Emily and Ross got. From then on, Joshua was the only thing that made her even slightly happy.
Emily wasn’t just a rebound for Ross. Ross and Emily was depicted as being in loving relationship for 10 weeks until the actress got pregnant so they had to write her off.
I dont think she was jealous until she found out they were getting married. Kind of jarring after only a month.
