  • This is a review of the ‪@underarmour‬ Velociti Elite. This is a race day shoe and Under Armour's first entry into the Super Shoe market.
    In this review, I share my honest and fair opinion of this shoe but I still remain unsure of whether I will be keeping this shoe.

    I wear the Flow Velocity Wind V1 with a rubberised outsole. The outsole has been fine throughout after about 300 miles so far. The midsole will likely fail before the outsole does. In inclement weather the grip on smoother tarmac isn't good and gradually got worse as the patterns on the outsole wore away. Although some of my full on rubberised shoes don't perform much better in those conditions either. For me, UAs foam is a little on the firm side. Great for distances up to a half marathon but best for tempo or track days. What I love most about this shoe is how low to the ground and nimble it feels despite its relatively high stack height.

      I love it when viewers take time to fully engage with the videos and provide feedback that I wouldn’t have considered or known.
      Thank you so much for taking time Mohamed it means a lot and as for the ending of your comment, I want to personally thank you for the support. The progress I’m making on the channel is purely down to people such as yourself, I know it sounds cheesy to say, but I mean.
      Thank you very much Mohamed.

    Outstanding review of this UA super shoe and definitely one to get but at £225!? No. Just wait a while and they’ll be discounted somewhere. 👏👍

      Yeah, sadly I returned mine due to the outsole issue I highlighted. An update on that coming up soon!

    I picked up a pair of these for £100 on SportsShoes. Well worth it at half price. Fully recommend. I am using it for my interval sessions so as to save my Vaporflys for race day. I’ve done 155km in them so far and the foam sole has held up really well, and that includes running on gravel trails.

    Great review and congrats on the 2k subs!
    I just picked up this shoe with a pretty good discount making the price where it probably should be. The list price is just too much, IMO. It's so comfortable though and even fits my wide feet pretty well. I especially agree with the points you and Run Testers made about the distances this shoe is for. UA sells it as a marathon shoe, but unless you're a sub-3 marathoner, they probably should have positioned it against shoes like the Adidas Takumi Sen or NB Pacer. It feels like a very comfortable racing flat with a carbon plate despite that full stack. I'm planning on using it as my speed workout and race day shoe for some 5 and 10k races this year.
    How do you find the stability at slower paces?
    As for the durability, I'm wondering how it'll do, too. So I guess we'll see!

    • @AubreyRunning
      @AubreyRunning  Před rokem +1

      I would absolutely love to hear from you regarding the durability. It’s a serious concern for me but even if it does hold up, how much more would it do so if it had a more resilient outsole?
      As for the stability, I can’t fault this shoe at all! I think it’s a great shoe.

    Yay! Congrats on 2k! Keep working on it and keep showing that infectious smile of yours!
    I think UA is kinda overpriced to be honest. For the same level of tech, I can often find other brands which are 10-20 quid cheaper.
    As for the outsole, UA does the same with some of their bball shoes as well and it erodes very fast... which is a big no-no for and outdoor player like me. 😢

      I actually and genuinely think this is an amazing shoe. Seriously, it’s a comfortable fit, the return of energy is great but the 2 things I listed are the issue for for me.
      And also… I love Steph curry so I had to give it a go

    Damnnnn… this is the most mf honest review 😂 I ❤ u bro! Greetings from Malaysia 🇲🇾! Im considering to buy this shoes because I ❤ the brand itself & this is the 1st UA CP shoes! I ran 5k for 19minutes & 10k for 43 minutes.. my leg getting weaker for HM thus make it to 1:50hrs 😅

    • @AubreyRunning
      @AubreyRunning  Před rokem

      I find that’s the only way to be. I did initially feel bad because I thought I may have been harsh but the comments I’ve received and even chats with UA people… I’m assured that they will address these issues in their next version. I’m glad you found it useful though! Thanks for the feedback!

  • @uyi2g4eva
    @uyi2g4eva Před rokem +1

    The outsole is rubberised foam though. Same as the Hoka carbon series. Think it’s the durability you should be comparing and not the execution. The flow velocity wind and Hoka carbon x do not have any durability issues

    • @AubreyRunning
      @AubreyRunning  Před rokem

      Maybe so in some experiences but I have seen some signs of early wear on some shoes and also a few review that are talking about it. For me… regardless of how durable this foam is, it could be made more so with the suggestions I’ve made. Just my thoughts… but I always welcome others to share options so thank you so much 😊 for sharing yours. I truly appreciate it

  • @brianwj5
    @brianwj5 Před rokem +2

    I'm curious how the FLOW would hold up against those rubber outsoles? Which outsole would wear out first? All rubber is not created equal and doesn't automatically mean there is durability on the road.
    Also, Congratulations on 2K, well done!

    • @AubreyRunning
      @AubreyRunning  Před rokem

      I hear you 100% sincerely I do. But my point I guess is that regardless of durable the supercritical foam is, it would be even more durable if it was then protected by an outer layer. I love the shoe as it is but worry that it won’t hold up for as long as £225 needs it to,

    • @brianwj5
      @brianwj5 Před rokem +1

      @@AubreyRunning Totally understand the point. I personally like the trade off and the weight savings for this first effort. Correct me if i'm wrong but most shoes in the super shoe category are not known for their durability and longevity from what I have heard. They may be better now that brands are on second and third additions but from my understanding, the super shoe is hear for a good time, not long time.
      Cheers.

    Sure the shoe isnt perfect, but that is the outsole rubber. I have the velociti wind 1,2 and its what is in the curry shoes. They last and very durable. They are very grippy shoes. Its a hughlight feature of that sole....
    The only downfall is when it is wet and the surface is like stone or slate its then very slippery.
    Did you run in these? And to your last point i believe the last NYC marathon was won in these shoes.

    • @AubreyRunning
      @AubreyRunning  Před rokem

      I’m going to have to publish a video just to clarify my concerns. Having followed Steph Curry for so long I understand the origins of FLOW, and I love the material. I think it was so innovative. I just think… if someone is paying for that shoe at that amount, under armour should do more.
      Doug (the mind behind the shoe) literally said they did away with the glue and the rubber to save on weight and stack, but there are other shoes that weigh less and are within the stack height limits.
      Don’t get me wrong, I actually love this shoe and I think it’s a great shoe… just that one concern for me was reason enough to return it.

  • @ballgameshoes8583
    @ballgameshoes8583 Před rokem +2

    Why do you reviewers keep posting negative titles on Under Armour? I don't think you even heard of FLOW foam to say it needs rubber. It replaces rubber treads and this model has dual foam.

    • @AubreyRunning
      @AubreyRunning  Před rokem

      Ball Game Shoes… I absolutely respect and understand your view, sincerely I do. My views come from…
      1) Doug the creator specifically mentions the intention of Supercritical flow as being to minimise the stack height but the shoe currently sits at 36mm and they can take it to 40mm.And secondly…
      2) doing away with the rubber helps with weight reduction. But this shoe still weights a whole 30g more than Nike Vaporfly 3. It weighs the same as most super shoes with a full rubber outsole. Some of these shoes have full coverage as well and are actually lighter than this shoe.
      The other reason is that I actually returned my pair because candidly speaking, it’s much firmer than I had hoped and the cushioning is not what I want on my race day shoe.
      Lastly, I understand FLOW to have originated in a Steph curry shoe which you will know is initially design for a whole different surface. I’m not saying it won’t withstand these terrains, I’m simply saying it could do much more and be tougher with a more resilient rubber in key landing zones.
      People are paying £225 after all so why not help them keep the shoe for as long as possible.
      Just my thoughts but please know I can’t and won’t disregard your opinion.

  • @mthuthuzelimsobantu5546

    I don't think outsole rubber is a must for longevity, my Hoka Carbon X Esp has nearly 250km on them with some wear but no worse than seen on my other traditional rubber soled shoes. Other reviewers (written or YT) on the non-Elite Velociti Wind with the rubberized EVA/olefin midsole/outsole seem to be happy with durability or lack of wear, granted over short test mileages. Seems like a good shoe- good pedigree with Sharon Lokedi's NYC win last year! great review

    • @AubreyRunning
      @AubreyRunning  Před rokem

      I guess my reasoning is simply driven by the price. Paying that price would mean people want to keep the shoe for as long as possible. Therefore… logic follows that with the same outsole, an additional layer of an intentional rubber would make it more resilient. Other brands have done this and made their shoes lighter and stayed within the stack heights requirements
