    Just before their ad break at 10.09 you'll notice the little black n white striped rectangle appear on the top corner of the screen. This is a nod to UK television, back in the day this would appear just before a commercial break, presumably to give warning of when to put the kettle on and stop recording on VHS. Lovely detail.

      It was a signal in the centrally broadcast ITV programme to regional stations that an ad break was coming, because regional stations each ran their own ad break, and in the olden days it had to be run manually.

      @garethm3242 I thought NI's flag was the red/orange hand on the cross point of a red 'x' against a white background. I know there's not a flag emoji for N Ireland. Am I right or is that flag controversial? I'm thinking maybe the latter as, if I'm not very mistaken, it looks like the red hand of Ulster put in the middle of an English St George's cross...

    • @garethm3242
      @garethm3242 Před 27 dny

      @@titanium_di2402 Yeah there's no official flag. That one was based on the flag of the ancient Irish province of Ulster (which was the "red hand" with the ancient De Burgh cross, from Norman times - same root as the Irish surname Burke). It's often misappropriated here by loyalists though. The Map Men have it about right in this case. (Edit: Loyalists here use ancient Irish symbols and language every day [most of the place names here are directly Gaelic] without realising it, which is kind of funny.)

    England, unlike Scotland and Cymru, does not have a parliament. It is not a country by UN definition.

      Who cares what the clowns in the UN think, England, is a Country, and is the largest Country in the UK. the UN is a dinosaur that serves no purpose, just political clowns like the EU parliament, and the WEF, and the warmongering NATO, they're all as useful as a blind man in a firing squad.
