    I lucked out in 2018 and got a loaded 2017 model at the dealership with 18,000 mi. on it and this is 100% the best car I have ever owned. I'm single, in my 70s, very active. I was driving it on rutted, hilly or snowy country roads year round for work, it handles perfectly, under all conditions. I keep up with the maintenance, 100% reliable (so far, 55,000+ miles in). Jump in and go. Very good cargo space, with fold-down rear seats. An amazing car, I can't speak highly enough of it.

    In july of 2019 I bought a 2017 escape, base model, certified pre-owned,2.5 liter,11000 miles, it does everything great.Paid $16000 plus tax ,tag +dealer fee so,a little over $18000 out the door,we love this vehicle , the only minor gripe I have is the location of the battery and the sound system is a little weak. It gets a little over 28 mpg, so, after 19 mpg in my F150, i'm happy with that. I am at 17000 miles now and love this vehicle more everyday.

    This car is pretty great. I'm still pleased that the rear seats recline, get a/c vents at the SE trim, and has more leg room than in the Focus which it is based on.

    I love this vehicle first because it's like driving on a carpet the road feels so smooth. I got used to the peddles. The 0 to 60 is a beauty and the coasting is magnificent. Speed is a factor when trasitioning into a U turn and it does it fine. I've been recommending this vehicle to everyone.

    In my opinion the Escape is the best in the segment in terms of overall styling, comfort, performance, and utility.; I’ve looked at all of them.

    I have a 2017 Ford Escape! I absolutely love the thing! I have a name for her and everything. I go 80+ (when late) and don’t really have road noise. My Escape was 33,000 and it has everything I wanted! I literally have ZERO complaints!

    You know I have noticed in multiple fords that the pedals are spaced weird. I always find myself pressing on the gas pedal rather than the brake when starting our new expedition my coworkers have noticed the same.

  • @jamjop

    I had a 2014 Ford Escape Titanium with the 2.0 Ecoboost and I loved that car. A few years later I traded it for a 2015 Mustang GT. I have never had the same car for more than two years but I really want the Escape back. Nothing wrong with the Mustang. It's a ton of fun, fast and I love that I got it in orange. But I miss being higher off the ground and the space. Looking to buy a refreshed model, 2017 and up. I like the new design of the center console, the slight boost in power and the suspension in the rear was slightly redesigned to help it drive more smoothly. I'm not sure if the pedal design changed from when I had my 2014 Escape but I never had a problem and I have size 13 feet. I know some other cars may do some things better, but the Escape to me, is the best over all package. If you get the 2.0 Ecoboost (which I recommend, its great!) you have power, it handles well, is comfortable, has a good amount of space and if you don't drive like a bat out of hell all the time it can get decent fuel mileage. Buying used can save a ton of money and makes it a great value. I was really happy with mine and I can't wait to go back to one!

  • @yankee1770
    @yankee1770 Před 6 lety +6

    I test drove one yesterday (titanium) and I really liked the 2017/18 escape for the most part. The build quality felt very good and it had loads of good features. The 2.0 engine w/ turbo was quite powerful and the handling was very good for what it is. I agree with this review in that the pedals are far, too spaced apart and it would take some getting used to. That irritated me the most seeing as I noticed it immediately so why didn't the engineers adjust it? Also the back seats spaciousness is very subjective with me being 6"2 when I adjusted the seat to where I liked (awesome power adjustment capabilities) I could just squeeze in the seat behind me. My current 2012 Toyota Prius C seemingly has more back seat room than this. Also the trunk area was very generous (wish they gave the back seats a bit of it instead) and the seats do in fact fold completely flat which, needless to say, is super useful. The price tag is steep and the fuel recommendation is premium but can get away with regular they say. What makes this SUV worth it to me is the fact that the RAV4, CX 5, CR-V, etc. are all below 200 hp and torque and their fuel economy (barring the RAV4 Hybrid) is pretty much the same as the 243 hp Escape. I'll most likely get an Escape out of all the choices (wish Mazda CX 5 offered a 2.0 ltr turbo). The EDGE had way more room but at well over $40,000 with top model, etc. I might as well look at buying a Lexus instead.

    I just test drove a Escape today, and wow, it has been the best small SUV, I have every driven. I am glad I did my home work. The base model offers a great ride at a great price, but it doesn't offer any toys. If they put that Sync sound system I would have bought it today. But now I will have to upgrade my model just to get that system. As far as the ride was,, quite and comfortable and smooth. I driven other suvs this one I like the best.

    The new Escape gen has resulted in the previous gen values dropping like a rock. You can pick these up coming off of leases with ~35K miles for $12,000 on used car lots. What's great is that there are so many of them due to fleet sales, so they are everywhere. Just get the base model, less stuff to break

Amazing in the snow (with snow tires of course)

    My family has a 2014 Ford Escape S that hasn't been driven in a year. It's a nice little car that actually drives pretty nice. DO NOT BUY THE BASE MODEL though, the SE comes with many more small features that you'll appreciate like a center arm rest in the rear and rear air vents and auto lights. But the S does come with some decent things like Bluetooth audio+calling, backup camera, cruise, multifunction middle display with digital speed readout (that's nice to use) USB, and a surprisingly good sounding 6 speaker sound system. Pretty tight and loud bass, distortion towards the higher volumes but what do you expect. The SE is the lowest trim to consider imo and it's not too much more than the S. Good review KBB (as always. )

    I have driven a ford escape se 2017 1.5 L turbo for 3 years now. they are very comfortable, but the only problem that I have is the gas consumption. They consume way much more than what they advertise. Mixed is around 19mpg which is crazy. the best you can get is on the highway at 30 mpg but if you drive in the city is crazy. that was the reason why I am trying to sell it at the gas price these days.

      M.A. Medina your comment is on point. I just got the Subaru Forester and while it's not the prettiest and is a bit bland inside there is no denying the value. I got AWD, Pano Sunroof, and cold weather package and it was $27k. With those options on the Ford it's over $30k. It's also not the only one. The rav4 is also quite pricey and so is the Honda with the Honda being the only one worthy of that price tag. I actually think I dislike the Toyota most followed by the Ford.

      Have you driven it personally? Unless you have clown shoes on, you're not going to have any issues with the pedals. The only possible situation where you would "snag your foot" between the pedals is if you were flooring the gas then slamming on the break for some odd reason. You're not gonna be trying to beat other cars in the quarter mile in this type of car, so save the fancy footwork for something with three pedals. The criticisms he found were exaggerated just so he had something to point his finger at. Oh my god, there's no button in the trunk to fold down the second row seats so you're gonna have to walk 3 feet to lift a lever. I'm 6'2 and I can reach the nav screen perfectly. If you're driving you shouldn't necessarily messing with the screen anyways. Driver visibility is amazing, and this guy found something wrong with the fucking A-pillar. Let's say Ford adjusts it and makes it an inch or two smaller, what how would the driver benefit? Cars are massive pieces of machinery that you can see in the lane next to you that an A-pillar can't block when you're on the road. If you're in residential neighborhoods you shouldn't be driving fast, and if a kid kicks a ball in the street, you should have no problem seeing it cross your field of view. And since you're not messing with the nav screen or driving with clown shoes on, you're going to be able to get on the brakes without getting caught between pedals. The "meaty" A-pillars more likely than not provide for more structural rigidity, keeping the driver safe at the end of the day. Who the fuck drives 70mph+ on the highway in silence now a days. Road noise is not going to be noticeable unless you look for it like this guy. He then moves on to knock on the engine options. If you're in America, and you might actually tow something; the 2.0 turbo is the only option a reasonably educated person is going to buy. Why spend that kind of money on a car to sell yourself short on the engine. He didn't mention that this is the first year that Ford bumped down their 1.6L to a 1.5 turbo. The reason they did this was because of the massive growth in the Chinese market. Where buyers receives tax breaks when the engine is 1.5L and below because air pollution and shit. And if you're the person who buys the 2.5 naturally aspirated, god help you. Turbos improve efficiency and make engines last longer.

      gross? the Ford Escape has Intelligent 4WD which means; when the suv detects your just driving on a normal road, it uses just the front wheels, but when it detects any type of rough terrain, it will automatically go to 4WD mode for better traction. Unlike other suvs that do offer 4wd or AWD that is always active, this Escape gives the option of using both front and 4WD any given time, and it does it by itself...no buttons to push, no having to choose between a 4WD or a FWD suv and compromising in what type of suv to get..you need to do your homework. Also this offers an app that lets people start/stop their car, set timers when the SUV starts, maps of where it is down to the street level, updates on getting it serviced, finding parking spots, managing car payments and much more. and its the only brand (Ford) that has the number code on the door so it can be unlocked...come on...this is way more advanced than the Mazda
