Drumming Lesser Spotted and Great Spotted Woodpeckers in the New Forest National Park

A short video featuring drumming Lesser Spotted Woodpecker (LSW) and Great Spotted Woodpecker (GSW), taken at a private site in the northern New Forest on 27 Feb 2023. The LSW can be heard at approx 5, 11, 22, and 31 secs, and the GSW at approx 12, 20, 25, and 30 secs. The comparison between the two at 30-31 secs is particularly useful. To my ear, LSW drums more softly and rapidly than GSW, and for longer, often with a shorter interval between drums (although not in the example provided here).
