Hank feels like a super villain doing a monologue in this video "It didn't have to be this way..." I LOVE IT
yup, and the bg music makes his voice even more menacing. Straight out of a video game.
Well the Green brothers are mind bogglingly influential.
He could become a super villain if he wanted to
🙃
@@rubyred186 it totally sounds like boss music, you're so right
This line gave me chills without even trying
The beginning made me think I was about to get in a boss fight with Hank Green
It activated my fight or flight instinct a little bit! Like "Is Hank about to infect me with a suctorian what is happening."
yesterday, if you'd said to me the phrase "Suctorian Parasite" I'd assume it was one of the less-subtle monsters of the week from classic Star Trek
I’d honestly assume you’re calling me by the most badass possible insult
I love when Andrew was clearly having fun for an episode
"a colorful casualty of consumption" is a delightful alliteration that might describe something far less delightful as well, nice line Deboki.
1:09 for anyone else wondering :)
The bgm makes this video something else. Gives a different type of feeling...
It's not bad but it's also not chill like the past ones.
Love the change, giving a story to the microcosmos, the artistic flare and drama in the tone of delivery. Love the way the music shifted with the mood as the parasite went from small and swimming to menacing. Had a bit of trouble with my sensory processing disorder though, as the ticking tapping quality of the background music made it hard to filter and understand what was being said, mostly in the beginning of the video. Love the vibe of the music though! Nice variety from the normal chill tracks. May have just been an audio mixing thing? Keep exploring the creative side! It's delightful.
Respectfully, the music in the beginning threw me off, but then the sudden drop OMG that was such a “worth the wait” moment . I got literal chills
I don't like it, the music is too much in the foreground and taking the attention.
It was horrible in the beginning
i like nassulid
@2:42 I used to have a hairless suctorian as my sales manager
Have we considered the possibility that the Suctorian is simply acting out in response to being given such a crappy name?
*SUCC* torians 😏
Men gave it that name , lol
I'd give it like a 6.7/10, it's not that bad.
Haha.
This channel quickly became one of my favorites and I'm so glad content like this exists on this platform.
Keep the background music 50% audio level from the speech please
*Moral of the story... Never trust a Sucktorian.*
lol
Chiming in that the creepy vibe and music totally fit the video content for me - another great video! Thank you for educating and entertaining us again and again.
i love the higher stakes episode where hanks voice is so monotone. so much more creepy.
Love your Videos. This time I found the music a bit to loud or potent.
I disagree. The music fit the high drama on the slide rather well to my ears. But I could not have let the excellent use of the word "potent" pass without saying anything.
Clearly my current *Ovid 19 infection has me behaving oddly. My sick son and I have been watching the Patreon monthly videos 24\7 since the virus kicked in.
I love how this feels like I'm viewing this as an aquarium with the amount of detail
I miss the calmer background music.
The clicking/tapping part was a bit too loud at the beginning. It was hard to filter out enough to understand what was being said.
Yes
I think it was just meant to be unnerving for this episode?
Lucky y'all that it was for only one episode.
Love the new more 'menacing' sound track for this episode. Deserves some sort of award.
You are the 69th commenter! Congratulations!
Nice
Absolutely incredible footage! I dream of having a set up of this quality.
Damn you folks are good. Great microscopy, great writing and great narration!!
That's what happens when you have one person who does the microscopy, one editor, one writer, and one narrator who only works on narration. Everyone has one job that they're best at, and it comes together in a great video. This project must cost a lot of money, I'm not sure how they do it with the amount of views they get.
this channel is one reason i got a 4k display on my new laptop
This sounds like an episode of the Magnus Archives
there are some really cool dynamic shots in this video. around 6:05 theres a really good look at the bent and dying and that reminded me that these creatures live in a 3d space. sometimes I forget bc they often look so flat.
Could we have a future video about nassula and pigments in the microcosmos?
This would have been the perfect Halloween episode 🎃💀💀
This tardigrade is too extravagant for my taste. Make a color print of one frame from your awesome videos with a small logo or just a T-shirt with the logo of the channel.
Great video! Thank you for sharing!
I Love the mistery around the video and the music is perfect with the beautiful voice of Hank, impressive and need to be more appreciate.
Incredible editing on this video! Fantastic!
it is amazing to think.. how vast and expansive the universe is (and stars and planet sizes).. and then we go the opposite.. equally interesting, equally alive and yet so tiny and minute (heteronym)... i try to wonder where we fit.. are we in the "middle" of these vast differences... yet we are locked into a position that only lets us "glimpse" these two extremes..
The confetti-bedek't organism looks too delicious. I'd eat it too.
You got very poetic at the end, brilliant video, thank you!
Love your vids, super interesting. Music I weren't so keen on. Like hearing your calming voice
Congratulations and thanks to Hank for judging the Nikon Small World in Motion contest too!
This video was cool! Can we see more parasatizing/symbiotic/mutual microbial interactions?
I love that I can feel good about watching these informative videos for their quality and curiosity.... But I'm kinda just here to hear the way Hanks voice sounds on this channel.
The opening sounds like Green doing his best impression of the NoSleep Podcast host - absolutely fantastic
This video about teeny creatures is somehow a Bop
So, at what point does the nassulid cease to _be?_ I would think the parasite wouldn't want to kill its host, right?
Parasites don't do sustainability.
Lovee this!
These videos are excellent.
The sound engineer took me on an acid trip
love the dramatic narration in this one! 😂
Best journey yet !!!!!!
I love the T-shirt 😂😂 and your channel is fantastic ! Much love from México 💜😍
these are such good videos i've been watching since the beginning....i think its hilarious that when there is a speck on one of the lenses or camera i always reach up to make sure it isn't on my monitor....lol for two years....i still don't trust my monitor is clean enough XD
This is so good
3:38 At some points the suctorian looked like a miniature death star.
I am so surprised that this channel has such a small fallowing. Sure it’s not sensational content. To me, it’s super interesting to see the scale of life and what goes on in the unseen world all around us. I’m proud to be a supporter however, I really wish this content could reach a greater audience. Thank you so much JTMC crew and most notably, thank you James. Please do carry on… =]
I enjoy the tone of this video.
Love the ambient vibes in this one... Andrew Huang (high five)!
Just want to say how much I enjoy the poetic language you bring to the beautiful, bizarre microcosmos.
Stunningly good
Watching this video felt like playing SPORE
This is really cool! Got introduced not too long ago by a video about viruses and soap, and I'm loving this content
man, the music in the start of the video was crazy. andrew huang is amazing
Swimming so close against all that debris, It seems almost like it is trying to rub Suctorian parasite of itself.
Well, that was very dramatic. And kinda poetic......
in such quiet waters even a subtle change of pace is dramatic....
Oh, the soothing voice of Hank Green 😌
That poor _tardigrade_ had the equivalent of a zombie encounter.
I really like the choice of music with this one. and yes, i agree with RJferret, the choice of wording this episode is great. Hank, i have been DFTBA for a decade now, and it took me two episodes to realise it was your voice (I did not know it was one of your channels at first but your very clearly recognisable dulcet tones shone through). I like this direction. My regards to your team and the Wiz kid james.
James, no one, save Morgan Freeman, could ever be the voice of this journey to the microcosmos!
Masterful. You ARE a gentleman and a scholar.
This guys has a horrible voice. It almost ruins the videos
just watching it makes my skin crawl but then these things are for real.
"Somewhere else in the micro cosmos is this" 2:00
Ahh an Immodium
Oof I usually adore the music in these but this one is making my touch/sound synesthesia really weird and feels like a bubble in my throat.
These guys can be surprisingly beautiful creatures
Glad Hank is back narrating 👍
They alternate so that Hank can do his other projects. Are you going to say that every time?
Masterful
A single bacteria to kill me painlessly at once
Patiently outstretched tentacles.
Very Lovecraftian, this (eek)
Really interesting music choice this time! Gave the whole video a kind of punk feel in a way, a nice change
Yes, that end part sounded like something from the script of Welcome to Nightvale. Very much Lovecraft vibes with a modern delivery.
great job and some amazing footage - can you comment quickly on what you used to do the dark field and phase contrast stuff, camera included please?
I've been doing this stuff for a long time with basic equipment (used to be a naturalist at a local Baylands nature center), and it would be nice to up my game
the terraria music was interesting to say the least
Thanks, and I just got done eating too.
Man, Sci Show got bizzare as hell 😂
Did they hire Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross?
Creepy, yet extremely fascinating💚🦠🦠🔬
Science is amazing
I didn't know Hank Green narrated this!
What an amazing world we live in
*boss music*
Hank [ENEMY]: You know, it didn’t have to be this way
Hank on a serious note
Please make the background music much quieter relative to the commentary voice.
I can see a whole crowd of cyanobacteria mocking the Nassula and cheering for the Suctorian. :p
The drama of this episode!
I’m afraid I’m going to be one of those people. My high school Latin teacher is in my head and she cringed twice when you used “larvae” as a singular noun. It’s larva. Larvae is plural. Hate me if you must, but it bothers me.
Next time on JTTM: did Nassulid broke his promise and kissed Mitochondrium behind cytoplasm's back?
What type of microscope do you guys use?
I like the white shirt :D
Wow, the vibe from this video was... chilling, honestly. Amazing nonetheless. Can't wait to see what see Season 5 will bring!
Nice business model.
This randomly made me think of something for speculative evolution; what if Suctorians and Nassulids went into a sort of symbiotic relationship, like how Eukaryotes did with Mitochondria? It's a ridiculous idea, but with multiple Nassulids fusing together, it could potentially lead up to a different form of tissue development?
Wait is this the same Hank Green from SciShow? I can recognize the voice a bit, but boy did it get *deeeep*
Cool
I always thought a suctorian was someone who graduated last in class.
This might be how viruses evolved.
Why is some of the footage titled "nassulid" while the narration keeps referring to the organism as "nassula"?
The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Microverse
What if everyone bought both shirts. Then you will have to keep them both up for sale
Not sure how I missed this one, but now I leave you a like and comment for the Almighty Algorithm!
