I gotta tell you, I'm really enjoying these short videos about all the little odd dials and features within these protocols. I wholeheartedly agree 100% that we should familiarize ourselves with these in preparation for the Lab Exam. I'm a bit more earlier in my journey than you are. I just finished up mastering Layer 2, (mainly trying to know ALL of the ins and outs of STP) and now I'm moving on to Layer 3, so I'll definitely be labbing these up soon. OSPF Transit Capability and TE are new concepts to me. Thanks for sharing these!

Good videos mate. Guessing your going to give the lab ago soon? I'm looking at doing it in December in Belgium interested to see what will be thrown at us from the syllabus.
Also I'm concerned at how indepth python will be.

I'd love to give it a go this year, but I'm not sure if the labs will be available in the US. I'm gonna prepare for it though.

to which area does The link between R3 -R6 belong to?

Area 123, that is the only way the path can go R7-R6-R3-R4 in the first place.
Both ABRs have VLs to area 0 via R1, and "by default" should be routing inter-area traffic through the backbone. In this case, that means they should route through R1. However, with capability transit on (which it is by default), the routers can use the transit area (area 123 here) as a shortcut to get to the backbone. So R6 will use the area 123 path to R3 because it is a lower cost than going through R1.
If the R3-R6 link was any area other than area 123, this wouldn't work, because the transit area for the VL is the only area that can be used as the shortcut path.
